You made it sound like Haruki develops this new personality irrespective of any other character, as if in a vacuum, when you even included a clip of Maru clearly demonstrating that Haruki would not be where is without their relationship. Without Maru's role Haruki would not have come to the same conclusion.

Yes, good point. There is no purely self-constructed identity that isn't utterly vapid. Intercommunion between persons is what produces identity. There is no self-relation.

Dang ill have to check this series out. Im glad people in japan are exploring some interesting concepts with gender despite the severe gender roles that still exist over there. Thanks for the video!

At its core it is a mystery series. I'm sorry you were introduced to it with a heap of spoilers. Some of the concepts revealed here are supposed to be slow burns you experience.
Also if you like it feel free to dive into the manga. The rate at which explanations comes strongly shifts right after the anime ends. As of now the manga has only core mysteries to keep it going

Just a personal rant of mine
Why did they had to make assault scene that long? not only that they also did told us that it wasnt hours, it was days. As someone who was really invested into wholesomeness of the character i genuienly felt disgusting. i may not understand the artistic view here but did it really did anything? like i get that haruki did lost his Will to keep going and had to look inside him for search for his true self as well as what he really wanted but man it really felt like weird way to do anything, and leaving him alive after that?
maybe this whole scene changed him into his "sister" by the end because of the way he acted and took decision.

because sexual assault is a very serious matter and the show/manga does not gloss over how horrifying it is. it is an issue that we need to address more clearly, not glossing over and speaking about in vague terms.
