    While the Air Force Stadium does look cool its a pain in the ass to get in and out of. Since it’s on a military base, you have to go through a security check and there’s only 2 entrances on the base. This was shown in 2020 when the Colorado Avalanche played a hockey game at the stadium. The line to get into the parking lot was 3 hours long, it snowed the week before so it was muddy in the parking lot and it took 3 hours to get out of the stadium after the game ended. Also someone jumped off a bridge after the game, so everyone had to go out one entrance. A lot of people didn’t get back to Denver until 1am.

    War Memorial stadium has great atmosphere. They have a large student section and many people make the drive to Laramie from Cheyenne and other parts. UW is the only four-year college in the state, so you never know where people are from within Wyoming. Canvas Stadium is a great venue, too. I saw a game at the CSU stadium before Canvas, Hughes Stadium. We had to park way out in a field after driving to the boonies, and walk in about .75 miles to get to the grounds. I’m glad the Rams chose on campus for their new digs.

      I traveled to a CSU game against San Diego State at Hughes Stadium for Halloween in 1986. It was in the 30s when my plane loaded. It snowed right up to the Nov.1 kickoff and I remember the snowball fights from the people in the stands there the whole game. When SDSU earned the win 27-26 that day, I was atop the press box which had 100 rows of seats on that side of that stadium. Next, SDSU has won games against Boise on the blue turf.

    Even though I’m a Washington Huskies fan and a pac 12 guy when it comes to college football. But I always have a lot of respect for the mountain west conference. Especially because that’s a conference that doesn’t get a whole lot of attention and doesn’t get a whole lot of love or respect from the college football. And it’s like if you think the Pac 12 doesn’t get any respect or doesn’t get taken as seriously, The Mountain West conference gets even more less. Especially because of the SEC and ACC separatists in college football. And the people that control the college football playoff. Also I’m sure some of their teams haven’t even won a national championship at all. And also conferences like the mountain west or one of the big reasons why the college football playoff needs to expanded to 12 or 18 teams. Give more teams an opportunity to compete for a championship.

      Or a whole lot of money. It's way too easy for fans of P5 schools to look down their noses at MWC teams, without even taking into consideration, the HUGE wealth gap that P5 schools and fans have enjoyed for decades!
      One need only look at what having more money has done for former G5 schools, now in P5 conferences, to see what money can do for an athletic program. Schools like mine HAVE TO play money/bodybag games, on the road, to help fund their programs. Props to G5 schools that have done so much with so little!

    • @grondhero
      @grondhero Před rokem

      As a TCU fan, I understand what you're talking about. A Mountain West team has to pretty much go undefeated to even get a nod of recognition from the P5 base. The P5 teams, especially Big 10 / Wisconsin didn't like having to acknowledge a "little sister of the poor" competing in the Rose Bowl. But TCU proved that a good Mountain West team could compete with, and win against, P5 schools. It's the 2022 Bowl Season and I still find myself rooting for Mountain West teams (and very much enjoyed the pleasure of watching Air Force dominate Baylor at the Armed Forces Bowl, which takes place in TCU's stadium). 😁 🐸

    the old UNLV stadium was in a really scenic location. Nice mix of desert and mountains. SJSU is basically a really large high school stadium. and Fresno State's is the best. I am an alumni, so I'm a bit biased, of course.

    UNLV getting to play in Allegiant Stadium was likely a condition of the Raiders receiving public funding to help build the stadium, as UNLV is one of Nevada's 2 main public universities and the stadium was funded with a statewide hotel tax

    New Mexico student here. The touchdown clubs are put up in pagoda tents in the south end zone. The school is thinking about installing permanent fixtures there along with more stands and a new scoreboard, but the team needs to start generating revenue first.
    On a side note, the Space Force won't get their own stadium due to Air Force Academy graduates choosing to serve either in the Air Force or Space Force, so they're stuck with this one.

    I tried out for the Wyoming American Football team, since I was a pretty good soccer player. But they wanted to pick my classes and since I was changing majors, going from Engineering and changing to Pre-Med, and they wanted me to move into the Jock Dorm, I said no thanks. It was great kicking at such altitude. And I would have loved to try kickoff attempts with wide receivers since I was a good passer, at soccer that is. I think this is a little developed tactic in American Football. But most coaches had too much experience playing without a helmet.

      @@teller1290 I agree that's it's not as bad as say Boise or EWU, but they all come off as tacky. Then again, I feel the same about the fields that alternate shades of green every 5 yards. Grass in real life doesn't look like that.

    • @loboman59
      @loboman59 Před rokem +1

      It'll never happen. We actually need a NEW stadium, but there just isn't any interest in college football here. During the Rocky Long years, we use to get 30-35k a game, and even 40k a couple times. But with the program in shambles for quite a few years now, due to bad hires and player issues too, I'm praying that Danny G. and the return of Rocky, can at least bring the program back to bowl eligibility again.
      It's not a bad area to live actually, but its proven very tuff to bring in top recruits here.

    rip Jack Murphy Stadium. Great place to catch Aztecs and, at one time, Chargers and Padres games. Best tailgating experience on the west coast, along with our bros in Oakland and Candlestick. Wish there was some way they could have kept and fixed it up, it was a San Diego icon. Nothing a little investment, a reconfiguration of the field level stands for better football sightlines, and maybe a downsizing after the Chargers left couldn't have fixed.
