- Today we will be removing this Keihin CV carb from this 2003, 100 year anniversary Dyna Twincam. This task will be conducted with the tank on, though generally other maintenance tasks would be done when the carb would be removed so its generally done with the tank off. However, this demonstrates the technique with the tank on.
The de-installation starts with the fuel valve closed and air filter, opened with a 5/16in hex bolt. Then, the 3 7/16in bolts holding on the air filter. This is followed by the 3 posts with the 1/2in socket. A 3/4in wrench will loosen the two bolts into the head, these have 3 washers in each bolt.
With the air filter backing removed, the gasket on the front of the carb is removed, and the fuel hose clamp is loosened. This is followed by the choke mount bolt with a 11/16in wrench. After this the throttle cables will need to be shortened at the adjusters. The carb is unseated from the manifold gasket and the fuel hose is removed.
This all allows enough room to work on the throttle cables, removing them from the track. Bringing the choke line through provides enough room to see the last connection, the vacuum line which is then removed.
With this the carb is released and ready to go over to the bench for cleaning. That's for another video.

No problem
Thank you. Helped a lot!👍
Great video
Can you sometimes get away without having to create slack in the throttle cables without messing with the handlebar part of the grips?
Awesome job
Thanks!
Can you do a video on compensator removal/replacement please.

Compliment from italy.

Ty so much
You're welcome.
Is there 2 throttle cables cuase of cruise control
Will this apply to a 2001 harley softail?
Perfect timing! The carb on my 2004 Low Rider is leaking all over the place. How often should these rebuilds be done? 🤔
Only as needed
6:26 what are those two rubber lines coming off the mounting plate? I noticed mine today have a black greasy substance sorta like oil/gas smell but it doesnt appear those line actually go anywhere are they just breathing lines for the carb?
They connect to the breathers of the respective heads.
