    Why was it all about him? Carlton wasn't on the bottom, if anything Stewart Dew should have been talked about as well but he paled in comparison to the talk about Teague. He was hung drawn and quartered by the media, and then when it looked like he might go they became his biggest supporters. That's not to say Carlton havn't handled it terribly they have, to leave him hanging for three weeks after a review is handed down, effectively as an insurance policy in the hope they'd get Clarkson, is just a disgrace. But to me the media have got a lot to answer for in this, as I suppose they do with anything, if they want to witch hunt they witch hunt. To me it's a lot more than just the coach, the fact that this board has now sacked four coaches in fairly ordinary fashion tells me it's administration so they should all go too. As Gerard said same old Carlton from the John Elliott and Ian Collins days of 30 years ago, only without the star stutted team. I tell you this much, with a culture like this there's no way they're making finals next year and Sayers will regret saying that. They may as well sack the next coach as soon as they appoint him at this rate, and they'll need to do another 20 year rebuild before they see any success. Absolutely disgraceful, feel really sorry for Teague and I'm not even a Carlton supporter.

    • @jornavyr2459

    • @helencostas350
      @helencostas350 Před 3 lety

      @@jornavyr2459 so you're happy with sacking coaches as soon as it becomes clear that they won't win a premiership in their 1st or 2nd year? You clearly love John Elliott then because that was literally his way of running it, except back then you had the money to buy players were able to play at Princes Park and didn't have the draft to worry about. It's amazing, despite him being gone since what 2002 you all still admire him so much that to this day that culture of literally sacking coaches as soon as they don't reach your magical fantasies and trying to buy the best in the hope that they'll automatically guarantee success overnight hasn't been broken. It takes a lot to win a premiership, the game is long past the days of it being all about the senior coach. I don't mean to be disrespectful to Teague because I genuinely do feel sorry for him, but you went and appointed an assistant coach because you clearly couldn't be stuffed going through a process and just said 'ah stuff it he's got some wins'. That literally mirrors Elliott and Collins appointing Alex Jesaulenko in 1989, saying 'we're back' because he got some wins but as soon as he fell off the cliff sacking him in favour of David Parkin. Again, nothing's changed. And so long as you keep this attitude up, nothing will change. But in the mean time, keep saying you're disadvantaged because you don't get to play at Princes Park anymore or because of the draft, and that the salary cap saga got you into this mess. Carlton still think they're the arrogant club they were in the 80's and 90's but they're not.

      @@helencostas350 Did you listen to maclure say we've had 5+ goals kicked on us in a row in a single quarter, 23 times? Have you watched every Carlton game this year? Considering you are not a Carlton fan, im going to assume you have not. We get absolutely destroyed defensively every single game. We had 19 goals i think it was, kicked against us when we played port adelaide a few weeks ago, on murphys 300th game too!
      How can you seriously expect Carlton to keep a coach on that clearly cannot coach?
      Ive watched him make some seriously awful decisions this year, such as bringing old/injured players in, instead of the young kids, ive seen him put players in positions they weren't meant to play, for example, he put Walsh in defence a few weeks ago, and Weitering, our best defender, in the forward line....
      Am i glad we sacked him? No, i would rather one of our own take us to the promised land, but this man is not the guy to do it, all i care about is our team winning premierships, and if Teague isnt the one to do it, then he has to go.

    Carlton board has been putting too much pressure on coaches. I feel it since they have sacked Brett Ratten. Teague was the third-year coach and didn’t have a bad record.
