Sad fact - Jazz survived the movie and is in the first episode of season 3 G. However, the voice actor that played Jazz passed away before any additional episodes were made which is why he does not appear in any episodes past S3E1. And as a 10 year old when the movie came out, I was super traumatized by all the character deaths of my favorites . =(

I still have my Attack on Titan Deck-building game, and somehow this reminds me of that! In a good way of course, so now I'm tempted to get this as well!

The Decepticon stand alone expansion was indeed announced and the head of Renegade confirmed it will include rules for mixing the two together for some cool competitive play but if you just want to stomp autobots that will be an option in the near future lol.

Mistake you missed in set up. You forgot to add stack 4 into main deck. Which was just 5 random cards.

Just a note, while you were in your Bot form, all your Technology cards(Teletram One, Galactic Positioning System, and Energy Swords) were at +1 power.

45:23 During a confrontation you can hold back a card with block to play it if the encounter you draw has an Attack: that way you don’t have to resolve the bottom portion. If it doesn’t have Attack: it must be resolved.
I think is the first time that I pre-order before watching a full gameplay... I read the rules and check something but I didn't see a full video... glad to see that is also nice on the table :)

Thank you for the play through. Question.....when I defeat a decepticon and I'm playing co-op or solo I take the VP in energon cubes? But when playing in competitive I take the VP as VP? Asking because Thundercracker says gain 2 VP and 1 energon. So if playing solo or co-op is just take 3 energon?

I think it is better as a coop game or competitive game. That’s just my opinion. Solo is interesting but it becomes very move and buy move and fight no help from others which is cool.
Arcee I believe debuted in the movie. So they are definitely going with what I assume is a comics timeline (I’d guess idw, but I haven’t read it)

Not sure how you handled the Co-Op scheme, but contributed cards are destroyed (not discarded) as a result of defeating the scheme. See page 17 of rulebook under co-op/solo rules section 3. Makes thwarting co-op schemes in solo play difficult because of the high price in lost cards to get rid of the scheme.
im confused about the deck that you draw from. is it a combination of main deck and starter cards?
The starter deck is all starter cards. As the game develops, I start to draw cards that I acquired from the market. The main deck is all unique cards.
One mistake I noticed when you purchased Military Airstrike - Allies enter play in front of you immediately when purchased, they are not put in your discard pile. This potentially would have made your turn around 34:50 a lot stronger as you would have had a different 5th card.
Allies do get bounced to the discard pile quite often by card effects which clogs up your deck for a bit, but not when initially purchased.

Ok. So if you skip a confrontation after stumbling on a decepticon boss in your current square.... do you need to view an encounter card? ... if so... what is the meaning of resolving a encounter card?
Or is my premise false... can we skip encounters with cards weve discovered?
How did you figure this out? The example in the instructions are vague ....
Confront is a separate action that you can do once per turn. When you stumble onto an enemy, you trigger the bad thing on reveal but then can choose to skip and not use the Confront action. Figured it out because Confront is it’s own action.
@OneStopCoopShop but it seems like the encounter cards are capable of producing alot of invalid game states where you get "stuck" ......
1) for "undermined"..... How can I add to a cards cost ? Do I stack the encounter on top of the card or something? There's no marker for that. I assume you'd forget after a couple of turns wouldn't you?
2) another encounter "out of gas"...sais "lose 2 energon". What if you have only one energon? Do you have to lose energon even if you choose to avoid confrontation? If so do you borrow it from other players ?...
3) the outmaneuvered encounter card sais "lose 1 VP". What if you have 0 VP? Same question of.... can you avoid the penalty of a encounter if you choose not to confront ?
1) only the Decepticon/ Autobot bosses add anything to track. By design, there’s only 3 in any single whole game. Sometimes I forget because tracking is annoying. But it does have the effect of making me want to kill them, which is what the game wants me to do.
2&3) The game's combat system is too convoluted, so I can see how there are questions. Generally, EVERY regular enemy and EVERY boss triggers an encounter card when you land on them - the Ambush. There's no avoiding those. The Confront action is a separate thing - that's where the player initiates a combat and tries to kill the enemy. That generally does not trigger it's own Encounter card. Just play cards if its a regular enemy. If it's a Boss, flip the encounter card and read the Boss Attack section.
For your examples, if an Encounter card off an Ambush tells you to lose something you don’t have, nothing happens. That’s a good thing! Lose nothing and move on.
If I loved the theme maybe it would be great but not a fan of transformers.

Just FYI, you can continue your turn after a confrontation if you didn't play all of your cards (held them back in your hand).

@@OneStopCoopShop I had this happen with a friend recently and I spoiled some of Batman the animated movie. To be fair, I did know she hadn’t seen it and wanted to, but I also assumed if you haven’t seen it and it’s over 25 years old, maaaayybbe you don’t care lol. I still felt bad.

Maybe we should have some alternate rules that make it more approachable ....?
I wish it had a cleaner combat resolution system. That's the biggest thing. Dunno if that could be changed without a wholesale change to the system.
I like the art and the IP but the gameplay does absolutely nothing for me. Saddens me that yet another Transformers game is a hard pass (just like the CCG version from a couple of years ago).
Totally understand my kid likes transformers so we will play it but I wouldn’t play it with adults there are better deck builders out there in my opinion
