This is a really interesting take on HDR, so thank you for that! I've always viewed it as like, current sRGB photos are inherently limited in the color and brightness they can represent. So of course when we get a technology that allows phones to capture (and display) more colors, they should take those truer photos, and display them in that truer format. But it makes total sense that when Instagram doesn't support HDR in the same way then it's not great - and for content creation you'd at the very least want to easily able to view the HDR and non-HDR renditions side-by-side to make sure both look good (on devices that support viewing HDR, and those that don't, respectively). unrelated, idk about that TikTok issue. sounds like a TikTok bug to me a lot more than an OS issue - maybe the OS has some different configuration that has triggered the bug, but operating systems don't typically change the video being viewed like that, and video players are hell to write correctly for all cases.
the hdr thing you mentioned at 15:08 is due to new Ultra HDR which tries to capture more light information (i could be wrong about technicalities), if you don't like it you can turn it of by disabling "Rich color's in photos" setting
That's probably not it. I have the same effect (where the photos change when I scroll through them in the gallery), but I don't have "Rich color in photos" enabled.
Rich color is a different thing, rich color is for color profile of photos, so instead of srgb it uses whatever rich color provides, for ultra hdr there is a stand alone switch
That zoom issue in 3rd party apps is not an issue just with the Pixel 8 series. I have the Pixel 7 Pro currently, and the zoom in Snapchat is super sensitive just like you demonstrated.

The pixel makes my life easier. due to the small enhancements that you don't realize you need until you live without it.
How did it remind you? I used to get helpful stuff like that in a Google Now feed, but now is it just a widget that shows you those things one at a time and won't let you know what's coming up?
I think the call queue thing mentioned at around 3:40 should be a more solid feature that comes natively, like a hold button and the companies should be able to implement it easily. It takes way more time than it should in 2023.
You’re the GOAT for including a speaker test. My pixel 6 speaker quality is so poor. It’s nice to see that they have improved! Thanks so much. Every other review so far is just a re-hashing of the specs we’ve known for a week.
• Sharing HDR files on social media or on WhatsApp etc is still kinda messy on both Android and ios.... especially with videos. • Google Photos has been buggy lately, since the latest feature additions. • P8pro is kinda meh for gaming considering the combo performance of G3 + Mali isn't that great. • Thermal performance is okay but Samsungs 4nm processing generates more heat than the competition. • Also, Samsung's modem used with Tensor could be an issue for some, especially with signal strength and heat generation... depending on where you live. • You may or may not like the darker human shots from the Pixel as it's quite different from brighter and evenly lit Human pics you get from the Samsung or Iphone(wax skin effect). I prefer the Pixel output. • Selfies and low-light video noise neede improvement. • Portrait mode edge detection is a hit or a miss and the details aren't great in indoor lighting due to digital zoom. • Low-light capture times are higher than the current iphones. • Iphone still leads the pack with faster and continuous clicks...pixel's shutter speed is fast but it cannot maintain it in continuous shots. Cheers 🥂
One of the things I’ve noticed with the pixel camera, is that navigating around the camera functions it’s often somewhat jerky , it’s pretty awful, maybe it can be improved with an update.
The studdering of the photos in the app you showed is in the camera app, it's not the photos app. If you open the photos app, I have never had any studdering on any of my pixels, but the camera app does hesitate slightly if you have a large photo library and start trying to scroll through it.

Honestly, I doubt it will be of much use considering how loud concerts are. Maybe it will be some improvement still but it might affect the main audio too
The zoom issue, I believe, it's because it is switching between lenses. I noticed it the first time I used the 8 Pro to shoot a video & needed to zoom in & out. So it's not a 3rd party app thing. It is so even on their stock camera app.
Bro can you please do an independent review on the pixel 8 pro and I really trust the information you provide there has been some issues with the pixel so I wanted to know what all has been rectified
I have had my Pixel 8 Pro for about two weeks now and I love it! I have read many reviews and watched hundreds of CZcams videos about the phone before buying it. I previously owned the Pixel 3 XL, 4 XL, and 6 Pro. I have always enjoyed the Pixel experience even though the phones always had issues. This phone is probably the best Pixel phone and far exceeds the previous phones. I have not experienced some of the issues that other have mentioned such as over heating, lagging while scrolling, connectivity issues, apps shutting down, or any other issues. My experience as of now has been nothing but positive. Before this phone I had the Samsung S23 Ultra and that was a good phone but I am not a fan of Samsungs version of Android. I primarily use my Pixel for phone calls, a lot of texting, media consumption, and for social media, so for me this phone does everything I need it to do just fine. I really do not play games on my phone, so that is a non-issue for me. I do take pictures but I am not professional photographer so in my opinion picture quality can be subjective at times. So for me overall the Pixel 8 Pro is a much more enjoyable experience and I have always enjoyed what Pixels have had to offer.
I’ve hear about connectivity issues on Pixel 8 pro, like SIM cards not working properly, is that actually an issue or not? Cuz I’m seriously considering buying it. Also, what about heating on the device?
Just a note: the camera app having a toggle for photo / video is an Android 14 feature, not just a pixel 8 feature. Before I picked up my 8 pro in obsidian (🥰) my pixel 5a updated to Android 14, and it had the new photo / video toggle as well.
