Usually from the US but the first two from Canada too during the pandemic (WHAT was going on in Edmonton to send vulnerable types over the edge???). Anyway- it’s SO important to learn about the culture of other countries and respect the differences. Rather than projecting or else imposing one’s own (usually quite different) values. Australia is screwed? No. Sounds like you’re living somewhere less socially coherent and the anxiety/ fear, understandable though it may be, is leading you to project. Australian is not your tabula rasa.

Australia can legally prevent Australian users from watching the video, not users from other countries, who have no say on Australian laws, have not elected these people to make laws in their name. Therefore, any injunction on X by Australian authorities to ban the video for all X users is illegal power grab. X can only be compelled by Australia to deny access to the video for users connecting from Autralia.
And even that is totalitarian and disgusting.

To the best of my knowledge,the Christchurch video was de-platformed from all internet platforms, inclunding Twitter, now X. They all complied with a NZ gag order, apparently. Therefore, I don't know how the NZ man could even share this material if not through private emails or mails...

My comment is logical rather than focused on Elon. Of course, the Australian government can ban content within Australian territory, but how can the Australian government request a global ban on the same content? If this logic holds, then Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela could also ask for a global ban. Is this the right approach?

In Australia, the people elect the government, which may impose its policies either within the constitutional framework or beyond it. At least, the courts have jurisdiction to impose bans within Australia, but not on a global level. If I understand your point correctly-that banning within Australia is incorrect-then the people can wait until the next election to change the government. Regarding the global aspect, Australia can request other countries to implement bans, and 'X' might be compelled to adhere to these bans in those countries.
