The Saw franchise is very near and dear to my heart for many reasons, one of which is the fact that many of you likely found me on the web through my constant updates on the latest Saw movies almost a decade ago. Although this series went completely off the rails, and there are fewer good movies than there are bad, it was wonderful to jump back in and watch them all again, so I hope you enjoy this just as much as I did.
Plus, Jacob has never seen a single Saw movie, and he hates scary movies almost as much as he hates gore, so LETS DO THIS!!
(Because they appear to be the easiest to find, we are watching the UNRATED versions! Jacob is elated.)

That straw thing in the throat seems ridiculous but it's actually one of the most impressive pieces of intelligence from any character in the series, that throat-puncture-to-breathe thing does work in real life
Mark Finnegan yep and it wasn’t a straw it was a pen. Tracheotomy’s work really well and they use it for people who can’t breathe properly through their wind pipe.

Miracle Of Life? I had to watch that in Health class. I saw a *HAIRY COOCHIE.* Plus, it was from the 80’s, which made it much better.
All you haters out there saying just drinking the water are wrong. Those jugs are 5 gallons of water each. That’s 10 gallons of water. The world record for the fastest gallon of water chug is 33 seconds and the guy threw up right afterwards cause it can make you sick drinking that fast. The average male head is about 9 inches tall. That box is only an inch or two above his head. I’d say he’d have to drink about 4 or so gallons to have the water at a safe enough level to breathe. If we go buy the length of the clip for how fast it filled up that’s about 3 minutes. He’d have to drink that much water in 45 seconds, only slightly faster than the world record for drinking 1 gallon which the average person can’t and shouldn’t do (remember the throwing up). Let’s be generous and say the editing sped this process up and it actually takes about 10 minutes to fill up. He’d still have to drink 4 gallons in 2 and a half minutes all while not throwing it back up or suffering any other symptoms that come with chugging water that quickly. And the cherry on the top is he would have to do it before the water went past his nose cause you HAVE to breathe while drinking.

Fun fact: the directors of the movie were two film students who graduated and wanted to film a movie that would take place in one room the entire time.

It still pisses me off that the wife in saw 7 legit gets her skin baked off because she believed her husband, who lied to her.
The other 3 had been involved in the lie, and knew he was lying, but she got punished for doing nothing wrong. It makes me so mad.
She realizes he lied to her right before she’s cooked alive, which is probably the most fucked up part, beyond the fact that the actual guy that lied is the only one who lives through the thing, everyone else dies.

To be fair thats quite consistent, there are many times throughout the films that "innocent" people die in order to "teach" the main victim a lesson. The insurance guy with the teen and the old woman having to choose who lives and who dies is one that comes to mind.
Also, she was quite annoying and super naive so I don't feel that sad about it tbh :L

I can't remember specifically, but i think some traps are made by either Amanda or Hoffman. I remember Amandas never being beatable which is why Hoffman kills her. And I think Hoffman also had contradictions with actual jigsaws "ideology."

The character he plays in the 100 is literally a major character in 4 seasons w major development who went from the happy comic relief to the broken boy who wanted an escape... Devon bostick literally shone in that role. He played silver in okja, adam in being charlie, he's playing the lead role in a movie w natalia dyer coming next year and he has like 5 more movies coming. His career has expanded and gotten much better, not "dove." Yes, he was great in doawk, but that wasn't a highlight for his acting. He was in a comedy, its the serious roles like in the 100 where he gets to show himself, and in my opinion, he's one of the best modern actors on television today. He was the only one in the 100 besides lindsey morgan (raven) who i felt every emotion they acted through the entire show and never felt like they were just acting. The whole cast is great, but he is 1/2 of the only ones who i genuinely found perfect on it.

I would totally read “saw: the lost traps” on ao3, a bunch of urban explorers who know nothing about saw go into one of his buildings. Or it could be a building inspector going in to see if it’s structurally sound. They find the traps meant for other people and they have to escape, maybe the explorers go in groups when only one person was meant for the trap so they are all solving the puzzle like a team
I like the explorers plot, wish we could somehow make that happen
I'm really, really not a fan of gore, but I absolutely love the batshit crazy story of Saw. All the bamboozlement and shenanigans going on is just really entertaining.

That "straw in the neck" was an improvised trache with a pen. I actually had a trache as a kid and breathed through that due to cancer. He basically gave himself an extra hole to breathe through that wasn't under water.

A more medically sound version is pretty common in emergency medicine or surgery when people have an allergic reaction or something that closes up their airway and they need to establish a new route for air to enter the lungs.
If you want to know more it's actually called a Tracheotomy and it's basically no more complex than what you _SAW_ in the video. Basically you jam a tube or hose into the windpipe and breathe. Done. Lol

Absolutely true. I was in denial about it back when it came out. Tried to convince myself that it was somehow good, but now... I can't even really think of anything in the movie I liked except for a few things here and there.
Can we expect a review of Jigsaw like we got back when all of the Saw movies came out Eric?
Tyler 7 years later.. I still think its reputation is undeserved. The acting was bland, yes, and the visuals suffered because of the whole 3D gimmick. However, I did find the whole false survivor game a neat way to "end" the series. I did like Hoffman's spiral into madness in this movie. You see him as Jigsaw's true accomplice in part V, then in part VI he starts losing his shit when he finally got discovered, and now he's a complete psycopath that abandoned Jigsaw's ideals and only wants to get rid of every loose end. It made the ending much more satisfying. Speaking about it, some may've seen it coming, but I still think the way the twist played out made the entire film worth at least one viewing. Before Jigsaw was announced, I thought Saw 3D did its job as a solid ending, and I still consider it better paced and more interesting than Saw V, and less contrived than Saw IV. Not as good as VI or the first 3, but still good enough.
Tyler I really like the concept that they went with, with the false game survivor actually being tested. They might not have executed it very well but it's a smart plot and i don't think anyone can dispute the great ending
I hated how they made the blood pink... Pretty good ending though.

18:17 This actually works and it's called a tracheostomy. Basically he created a new direct line of airflow straight into his throat instead of having to breath through his mouth or nose. You would have a tracheostomy if there was so much damage to your face or throat that you can't breathe how you normally would; a doctor would also use a tracheostomy as a form of ventilator for someone with damage to their airways.

I can't stop laughing. That was so fucking good. Like we're watching one of the bloodiest, goriest & hard to watch franchises of All-Time, and in the middle of the chaos Jacob finds a way to get a laugh. That's like if you were watching "Death Note," and said "Okay now, I'm going to the bathroom. I'm gonna leave the Death Note Book and my pen right here while I'm gone.
