Also is it good to give them like but we take supplements especially like for vitamin D?

    I’m thinking about getting a sun conure and dont have room for his cage to be inside. The cage will be outside but under shade. I will bring him inside for a couple hours than but him back.I want to teach him to fly to me and stuff but idk whether to trim it or not bc i’m scared while i’m taking it inside he will just fly.

    • @PoodlesandParrots
      @PoodlesandParrots  Před 2 lety

      Personally, I would not keep our conures outside on a regular basis - hopefully you live in a place that’s warm all year round (like Thailand). I would worry about weather, temperature, predators, etc. I also do not recommend ever clipping a birds weeks this can cause lots of issues like muscles not developing and psychological issues. I think it’s important to have the right environment for a pet bird and doing a lot of research first. Hope this helps!

      There are various parrot UV lamps as well as different light kits you can purchase. I would recommend asking your avian vet which one they recommend or taking a look on Amazon or Arcadia ☀️

      @PoodlesandParrots  Před 3 lety

      Thanks & welcome ❤️ ... fruit and seeds should be treats in your conures diet, you can ease them into veggies by starting with pellets, birdie bread and offering a variety to find out which veggies they like in terms of textures, colours and flavours. You can also try steaming veggies so that they are soft you might be able to get veggies in that way. For example, Mango won't eat pumpkin unless it's cooked along with some others haha

    • @PoodlesandParrots
      @PoodlesandParrots  Před 3 lety +1

      As mentioned in the video most modern windows will block the UV from the sun that supplies the vitamin D. Ourdoor time in the sun is great for their feathers, getting fresh air and vitamin D. We put Mango outside on nice sunny warms days by rolling his aviary outside and letting him enjoy the weather :) highly recommend!

    • @PoodlesandParrots
      @PoodlesandParrots  Před rokem

      I haven't heard of a sun conure turning solid a yellow but I saw a picture doing a google search! If you aren't able to care for your conure and meet it's needs you may want to consider finding a new home for your bird, I know this can be hard to consider but it's also important to care for your health while ensuring your pet bird isn't being neglected. Even if it's with a good friend or family who have experience and the time to care for your beautiful bird. Juvenile Sun Conures have predominantly green feathers with patches of yellow and orange on their undersides and wings. As they grow older, their green feathers gradually transition to bright yellow. This transformation typically occurs over the course of several months to a few years, depending on the individual bird. The change in coloration is a natural occurrence and is influenced by hormonal changes and genetic factors. It is important to note that the intensity of yellow coloration can vary among individual birds. Factors such as diet, health, and environmental conditions can also affect the overall vibrancy of their plumage. If you notice a sudden and drastic change in the coloration in a Sun Conure, it may be a cause for concern. In such cases, it is advisable to consult an avian vet to rule out any underlying health issues or nutritional deficiencies that could be affecting the bird's plumage. Diet is really important and veggies and fresh foods should make up the majority of their diet, I also have a video on how to get your bird to eat more veggies: czcams.com/video/MGyN4F8sY1s/video.html and for dry food I recommend Harrison's bird foods lifetime fine nuggets.
