Dude, great video. The only critique I have is that it seems like everybody forgets you have to drop the oil pan in order to get the timing cover off and you have to pay attention to the oil pump pick up and that little wire that’s underneath inside the oil pan that goes to the oil pump. For some reason every LT/L83 L86 video everybody forgets that. However, if you figured out a way to do it without dropping the oil pan, please let the world know.

Nice 👍🏾 I swapped a L83 in my third gen it’s almost completed but seams like I keep having issues but I’m getting real close. It was hard to find someone to do my cam swap I have the exact same TSP KIT but I upgrade the trunnions too
I have a 2000 chevy 1500 z71 5.3 v8 lifted on 35 tires, fully built transmission with a perfect converter with a 2000 stall. I am thinking about going to a 6.0 v8 but idk if I need the bt2 stage 2 or the stage 3? I am wanting something reliable. I do some towing also. In your honest opinion what cam would do me the best. I do not race the truck.
Perfect timing. I’ve been looking for a shop to get this done to my 2017. Amazingly the few I spoke to about it don’t want to touch it. Makes no sense to me. Especially since I figured it would be easy to find a shop in Phoenix

@@josephcagiano3055 try New Ear performance in Agoura Hills California. I put tsp stage 4 truck cam on my 5.3 2003 Silverado 5 years ago and not a single problem with my truck not even linking oil. (158k miles on my truck)

Question? Fuel pump lifter, do you keep the stock lifter or do you switch it out with another one?

hey man i have a question i’m trying to cam my struck with a stage 2 and it’s a 14 5.3 they’re telling me i gotta change push rods and springs every year

So I know according to Texas speed website for a stage 2 cam you do not need to change the torque converter. But if i do stage 3 can you tune the transmission to where its not an issue..... Or perhaps a better question, will it be rougher on the stock torque converter making it fail early?

You honestly should change the torque converter regardless. They are prone to grenading the tranny around 110K miles even when stock. It's a problem... Anyway, I know I'm late, but be safe and don't let those torque converters on the 6L80 and 6L90 tranny ruin your day. OH, and don't replace it with a new GM/ACDELCO one... The problem has not been corrected from what I understand. Get a good aftermarket one.

Yo man I’ve been trying to find some more information on doing the AFM delete on a 5.3 l83 without pulling the entire engine. I’d like to know if you pulled the radiator and the ac condenser or just the radiator? Would it be easier to remove the grille as well? I definitely want to see more detailed walkthroughs of these types of installs, I’m in the market to do the same thing to my 5.3 and you’re the first person I’ve seen do the delete without pulling the engine, seeing that gives me some confidence to do it.

Hey man could u send me a link on all I need for my 2010 Silverado for a cam swap and also do I need to do something with the oil pressure release valve in the oil pan and do I need to change the front cover behind the water pump since it’s the vvt
LTs are easier to just pull the motor tbh but they take way longer

Just watch out for the driveshaft they like to shoot into orbit at higher speeds.
How is the BTR stage 4 for daily driving. I can’t decide to run those or TSP stage 3. What you think?

i daily a sierra with a btr stage 4 cam, it’s actually not bad and people love it in traffic.
hey bro i have 2010 chevy silverado ls 4.8 l20 . bad lifter and probably damage the cam couse it shakes, stabilitrak traction and check engine on. same problem as that cammed suburban you did . wanting to fix back to original around how much will that job cost. i stay in arlington
It’s best you do the dod delete, 2,500 with everything included (btr cam kit, dod delete kit, dyno tune and labor

You can run a stage two btr on a stock converter.

Been a long time since I did a cam swap in older gm 350s but don’t you gotta do a certain rpm hold for a break in period or anything?
On a flat tapped lifter yes but not on a roller lifter, there is no break in period

After cam swap on my LS I had my cam position sensor code come on. What can I do

Did you try replacing it? Could just be a bad sensor. Will it drive?
No. I got it tuned but when he finished tuning it light came back on. I told it back and he said it couldn’t be removed. But drives but not good needs retune I know.

You dont have to i ran a 228/232 on a 108lsa stock stall for a long time but once you get a converter you wont want to go back.

@@braylonwoodell5465 converter is just a recommendation never needed but it helps a lot even with the stock cam.

My 2014 5.3L does not have DOD it has VVT.
Really? I thought all 2014 and up came with dod
@@dinocoblue2709 that is what I thought too, but when I bought my used 2014 Silverado LTZ 4x4 5.3L it never went into V/4 mode at all so I was thinking cool, maybe someone turned it off in the computer with tune or something, but nope, upon further inspection it is a VVT engine.
Well that’s good cus DOD sucks lol, I had thought all the 2014 and up came with both dod and vvt
They come with the AFM (Active Fuel Management) or also referred to as DOD ( Displacement On Demand) and they also have VVT (Variable Valve Timing)
All LT motors from 14-18. L83s 5.3s and l86s 6.2s.
