Few large Railroads got more use out of their EMD GP7/GP9 engines than the B&M/Guil did, some 60+ years !!! 👍

Hi Jack, Thanks for uploading the video. That is the Boston & Maine Railroad I remember. Always liked the B&M, Maine Central and Bangor and Aroostook. Such a shame Guilford happened. It looks like you got one of the Bicentennial Geeps in the first consist. As for the film quality, I'm glad you were able to capture on film what we can no longer see today. Back in those days, I had a 35mm camera taking still photos and never once thought of buying a video camera. I'm thankful folks like you did purchase a video camera and capture the action on film. Thanks Rich. When I look back now, I wish I did much more. There was so much I passed up as movie film and processing was so expensive. Each cassette of film only ran 3-1/2 minutes. Always ran out of film at the most inopportune times, like the last clip. The film ran out when he opened it up coming out of the siding. .

Thank you for the memories. I grew up in Phillipston about a mile and a half from mile post 355 located in South Royalston. So many nice memories of Boston and Maine trains lugging up Royalston Hill.

I seldom do go to South Royalston, MA nowadays, unlike in my past, when the B&M actually ran more trains! Today, usually after my 2nd shift work, I may check out the interlocking so to see if the signals are lit (and to also determine if they are lit because there is a cut of freight cars left out in the passing track for the P&W to pick up).
If ALL six lights on any of the wayside interlocking signals are RED, with no other color lit, I will simply head for home in Winchendon.

All of their units on the B&M Roster sporting Blue.Known commonly as "Bluebirds"

According to most B&M employees especially prior to sewer Guilford the 1700s were the bluebirds. The gp7s were unofficial referred to as Redbirds mainly before painted blue and they were the geeps on the B&M.... The RS3s were unofficially referred to as donkeys. Among sometimes other names which I wont mention...

Home territory for me, Easthampton, MA was where Mt. Tom Jct. Was located, Easthampton branch went off to the left. Mt. Tom power plant in the background, now gone sadly.
