E-Bike Question of the Day ⚡🚴How important is the overall weight of the folding e-bike you’re interested in buying? What is the maximum weight you are willing to have on the folding e-bike? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

I think light weight is important for some bike uses but not for others. This Evelo seems like a good urban commuter bike. It is great that it doesn't weigh much and would be easy to take inside apartments or workplaces everyday. Nice and clean with the belt drive. But for campground use I think a heavier fat tire bike is better. Nothing wrong with having more than one ebike though 🙂

Great review! I’m researching folding e-bikes and planning to buy in the next few months. I’d never heard of Evelo but this bike just jumped to the top of my list over 3 well known others because of the mid-drive, weight, and internal geared hub. It is the first bike to check all the boxes.

Looks like a decent folding bike. Kept mentioning how light the bike was for a folder. Why not mention the specific weight? Per the website it is 49 pounds..not bad.

The trend has been for manufacturers to make fat tire folding bikes that offer utility for sure, but they are pretty heavy. The Lectric XP and the Rad Expand 5 are about average in this class at 65 lbs. The Heybike Tyson and the Wallke H6 are getting up to 80 to 90 lbs!
Just doing a little digging in CZcams reviews, reddit, etc. show that many people actually don't fold, lift and transport these folding ebikes very much, as they are just too heavy to do so.
I think the crossover point on folding ebike weight is around 50 to 55 lbs. If it's heavier than this, the folding feature is kind of wasted. Might as well get a full sized ebike.

We too are a bit surprised at the lack of lightweight folders on the market. Seems to be a bit of a void there, which is why we really liked what the Dash offered.
I think you hit the nail on the head about fat folders holding appeal for utility. But any time you can just toss an e-bike into the trunk of a sedan without much effort you have a bike with some appeal.

There are two different purpose when purchasing foldings... fold to carry it or fold to store it so weight not always so important those who live with cars where they just need to be able to fit inside the car unlike those who live in city using transportation w/ bunch of stairways

Solid review, I really wonder why they went internal geared hub and not a CVT hub like most of their other bikes on this one. That's really my main sticking point holding me back from buying one.

Looks like the best of all worlds for a folding E-BIKE.: Clean belt drive, Mid Drive w Torque Sensor, hydraulic brakes, light and rapid folding. Plus cargo capable. Would like to see cushion seat option w "hydraulic" stem and an option for ultra light expandable hand cart for handling onto mass transit. Eliminating lifting 49 lbs + "cargo".

Not only is the weight of a folder extremely important, but also the folded size. This one is slightly better than the usual suspects, but I just went with the Gocycle G4i. Nothing is close. The G4i rides behind the passenger seat in my Prius and is 38 pounds.
