      For the illumination try the regulator on the right side og the steering wheel ;)

  • @jinger9980
    @jinger9980 Před 5 měsíci +228

    For the illumination: Check all the ground contacts! It is possibel that a contact has been ripped off due to the massive impact.
    Just check by giving an easy to reach bulb an extra ground contact while it is switched on. If it lights up you have a ground problem in the circut. Good luck and continue the work. It is fun to watch!

      I think you are right @jinger9980 a ground for the circuit(s) is likely the culprit

    • @questioner1596
      @questioner1596 Před 4 měsíci +5

      One possibility is once you unscrew a ground it never makes as good contact on reassembly unless it's scraped clear of corrosion.

      Every French car should be taken directly from the production lines at the factory to a recycle center. Avoiding the customer bit in the middle.
      Any German car is useless and ugly. I do drive a BMW but I don’t like it. They are awful.
      Any Italian car will rust before you can drive it off the dealership.
      Realistically, the only cars left that could be Ok, are japonese. Also very ugly (all of them!), also very unpleasant to drive, but at least they last the first 4 years without much pain.
      Still, after 5 or 6 years of ownership, I'd let them run out of oil and drive them until the engines throw a rod bearing through a new hole in the bonet. Cars are hateful machines.

Regarding the dash backlights not working I had the same issue on my Discovery 3 as well as the horn not working - some research later it appeared to be the clock spring on the steering wheel, however when I removed the steering wheel to replace the clock spring there was two broken wires on the steering wheel harness. Ordered a new cable from Rimmer bros and presto fixed the horn and the dash lights

    Wow well done on not buying anything in Halfords it’s not easy, it’s the sane with the middle aisles in Aldi and Lidl when they’ve got the place stocked with tools and car bits,
    Super foresight on buying the range rover that dash would of turned me off it big time, it cane together well,
    I bet the wife will love wofting round in it

    Hi Nino,
    I have watched through some of your earlier content and you have developed a great philosophy and working style with these cars. I have enjoyed the Fiat 500 again but notice this Range Rover is a good buy as it has clearly been well looked after before the accident, judging by the condition of the engine bay's cleanliness. I once had a 1986 RR when I lived in the middle east and yours seems a peach. Thank you for providing such good content and seeing you work through problems is a good lesson to everyone. If any of your cars came up for sale I would not hesitate in buying one.

    You're incredibly patient. I think I'd have been in tears and just desperate to get shut and cut my losses after some of these issues. For the scuttle, could you not have repaired with epoxy putty?

    I admire your enthusiasm, your wife's patience and your lack of expletives when working on the cars. Good luck with your plan to go full time with CZcams.

    At last a new repair video. I hope this is gonna be similar to your mini or fiat and not a 2 video wonder. Love your channel when fixing cars in depth.

    I guess this is the third or so solace for the RR and the way it turned out for you was really nice, but Christmas is coming up and I guess you need every possible contribution! Stay safe and keep them excellent vids coming! 🎉

      Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with the result so far. Hoping to get some good miles on it over the Christmas break and see if these things are as unreliable as everyone always says 😂 Thank you so much for the contribution 🙏

    Have a look behind the left-hand inner A post in case you have trapped some wire that feeds the interior lights. This would cause your issue. The headlight switch illumination lights are fed by another circuit.

    Brilliant upload. How on earth did you remember how to refit all the stuff to the replacement dash? I always thought the airbag systems made refitting complicated. You must be pretty satisfied with what you achieved 🙂
