      sometimes they cite actual case law, but if you look up the case, it has nothing to do with what they're saying. so they don't know what those words mean. they think they're reading an incantation that dispels the evil magic of repercussions.

      I worked in a courthouse for a few years. One thing is they absolutely have to get through this crap. A vast majority of the people in court are criminals, psychos, idiots, drunks, and self absorbed losers. Yes there is point to hold them in contempt or whatever, but part of it is just they need to get through the massive backlog of this crap.

      Sometimes ignoring craziness and not arguing point by point with defendant…keeps defendant from “winning” in their minds.
      Plus, Due process and protecting the record for appeal. Every judge has a different threshold. She has been on the bench long enough to not let it get under her skin.

      1. To prevent a mistrial.

      The last time he kept referring to the judge as, "my honor" instead of "your honor" in typical sovcit word game nonsense.       Another thing is, even a cursory Google search shows that there is plenty of guidance for people representing themselves pro se, from the courts themselves, bar associations, etc. (i.e. non-crackpot sources.) From what I've seen, they're quite comprehsible by non-lawyers and would greatly benefit these defendants, letting them make their stupid arguments without drawing contempt charges.

      And perhaps, who knows, one day he will realize that whether he acknowledges the laws of Kansas they are going to be applied to him and he needs a different strategy. I'm actually fine either way. I think when he's convicted she should give him a week in jail to demonstrate the sovereign power Kansas has over him. This can factor into his future legal exploits; he can prepare himself mentally for more, or decide that a different legal strategy might be more useful to him. But we live in a free society so he gets to choose the actions and bear the consequences.

      Yup. You know, I have a very similar viewpoint to his: I don't want the laws of the State of Kansas to apply to me either. But I achieve that result by *staying outside of the borders of the State of Kansas.* I find that works much better than yammering about jurisdiction to a Kansas judge.

      I agree completely. It's more than time wasting though, and very dangerous. SovCits are sometimes turning up at the homes of people involved in the process and creating fear and anxiety. That's not on. I like Webster, but she's not holding the defendant to account - yet.

      Or at the very least referred to a Probate judge for 72-hour involuntary psych hold to evaluate what's wrong with their wittle noggins....but, YES, either way, bound over to in-person appearance at the first indication of delusional thinking. Send a policeman to their residence and EMTs to the Courthouse. If they're remotely smart, they'll take a Psych Unit over a Detention Center.

    Part of the strategy is to waste the system's time. This guys need to be forced to appear in person with knowledge that if they show contempt in any way they will be taken into custody until conclusion of the matter. And, judges need to do what they always say they're going to do, but seldom actually do, and hold the self representing person to the same standards of litigation as an attorney. In this case, that would mean setting the case for a bench trial because the defendant has not made a proper, written request for a jury trial.

      Welcome to The Real Court. No really, this is how it actually works in the 99% of cases that don't get on YT, judges never mess about, they just don't have time. They study this crap, and call it OPCA, and the people who try it (pardon the pun) as vexatious litigants; and it's basically the equivalent of a bad credit rating, but in court. They get nowhere, as this 'kid' is about to find out unless he studies his ass off as the judge suggested. If he was actually listening, which I think he was despite all his objections, then he will very soon realize he's in really deep doodoo and lawyer up, especially considering it's free if need be.
