“Best” goetta in Cincinnati depends on what you grew up with. Just like which Cincinnati chili parlor is the best depends what you grew up eating. Chili parlors are even broken down by neighborhood. Northern KY is all about Skyline and Gold Star, while suburbs in Ohio like Price Hill and Camp Washington have their own unique groove. It’s all “Cincinnati chili”, but it’s not all the same. 95% of the time, whatever goetta / brat / chili your grandpa turned you on to is the “best” in Cincinnati to you.
I’ve had both Goetta and Scrapple. Goetta tends to lean more sweet and creamy while Scrapple is more of a salty product. One thing is for sure, no one who has had both would ever confuse one for the other.
We've had something simalar in northern England for 100s of years its called haslet made with pork and seasonings then there Scots haggis made with pinhead oats lambs liver
Sorry..you'll never have the best goetta since my grandmother passed away 25 years ago and took the recipe with her to her grave. That stuff was the greatest thing since before sliced bread.. I live in South Carolina now and they act like you're asking for permission to piss on their shoes if you ask for goetta. I've been lobbying for goetta here, but no luck so far..

In my mind, I imagine this became of depression eras like 1929, take what you have (meat and feed) and make a meal so you can survive.

Try looking for the best scrapple in Pennsylvania. Probably Philadelphia or Lancaster county.

Scrapple can be found in the part of Ohio on the PA border. The Amish and Mennonites make Scrapple in Columbiana County😁

Pinhead oats are the key, the creamy carbyness balances the spices and fat of the pork.

The best goetta is my mom's homemade goetta😂 I'd guess many of the diners in Cincinnati serve Gliers.
That last "plate" was the saddest looking plate I've ever seen
