Today my wife and I are in Cincinnati, Ohio and we start this video off at Krohn Conservatory in the east end of Cincinnati. All the trees and plant were beautiful to see. After that we headed to Queen City Radio Bar to try out a German food truck based inside the bar called The The Lübecker. We ordered a Schnitzel Sandwich, Currywurst, a giant pretzel and The Lübecker Käsespätzle.

It's funny because they picked "Lübeck" very obviously just for the name. Pretty much all the dishes were from the South (as well as Austria/Switzerland) and then you go with Lübeck for the name, one of the northernmost cities in Germany. It's a bit like opening a Texmex restaurant and calling it "The Milwaukee". To be fair, the food all looked pretty good and you could certainly call it "inspired by German cuisine", but aside from the Currywurst (where it's difficult to judge just from looking at it), it didn't exactly seem authentic.
It's funny Carol basically ordered mac n' cheese with cheese on the side. 😂
As a german: Those are not Käsespätzle. And it wouldn't be possible to have the cheese aside of german Käsespätzle.

Don't get me wrong, I love QCR, I lived next to it when they opened. But it is not the best German food in the city, not even close.
Lived in Cincinnati my whole life. Went on many field trips to Krohn’s when I was in school. Thank you for showing how beautiful our city is to your viewers. Krombacher is not the best beer from Germany, but I am from Cologne and we are drinking Kölsch beer here, but if I would like to drink a Pilsener beer, I prefer Becks beer 😊 by the way, Lübeck is a wonderful town ❤ so sad to see the Kässpätzle on your table, the cheese needs to be with the noodles, melted all together, cheese bulbs all over and roasted onions, but all together, hot in one bite.
The best Currywust you can get is from Dönninghaus in Bochum. The Käsespätzle look very wired, normally the nudels are much smaller. As beer I have to recommend Veltins, im living 5 miles away from the brewery, but Krombacher and also Warsteiner are from the same region.

If you come to Buffalo I can tell you a great small breakfast joint that the bills players are known to eat at every weekend in the off season. Great food and either way and a bonus of being able to fan it up
That restaurant looks incredible, as a Cincinnati native I’m going to have to check it out. Also, in the future I’d love for you to come back to Cincinnati for Oktoberfest. We have the second largest Oktoberfest in the world in zinzinnati.

Lübeck is a town in the North of Germany. It's famous for sweet Marzipan. Currywurst is eaten in Berlin. Käsepätzle is a typical Southern German dish. They seem to throw meals from the whole of Germany "in their pots". 😉
I once went to a "Bavarian Steakhouse" in Australia, but they also had typical meals from Austria and Switzerland and the rest of Germany on their menu. 😉😄😂

Ooooo, Ken, if you are ever passing through Michigan, there is a very good German restaurant in Gaylord. Mary's Stein Haus. The pork schnitzel is fork-tender and very flavorful! Don't even get me started on the veal schnitzel! 😅 They have beef rouladen, sauerbraten, and even schweinshaxe! Schweinshaxe is like bacon on a bone! Quite authentic to Germany. The potato salad is not to be missed.

I was thinking he'd go to Hofbrau too. They're good, but they're outrageously expensive. Couldn't have gotten half the food for what he paid here.

Also, Ken, should you find yourself traversing mid Michigan, right outside Frankenmuth, and the world's largest Christmas store, is Birch Run. There, you will find Tony's I75 restaurant. Their claim to fame is one full pound BLT sandwiches. A full pound of crispy bacon, between 2 slices of bread, with lettuce and tomato.

Krombacher is one of the beers that have a huge advertising budget in Germany. Most of them probably haven't drunk it yet, but they know the commercial by heart. Typical industrial beer. Krombacher causes headache :) I do not like it. One of the worst German big beer brands. Try Radeberger or Becks (similar to Heineken)...food is not very authentic, maybe the Currywurst. It comes normally with a roll or french fries (Pommes) on the side. Schnitzel rarely comes in a roll. Kind regards from Hamburg/ Germany.

Krombacher is a standard German pilsner beer. Pils is the most popular kind of beer in Germany and I think Krombacher is the most sold one. I personally love Pils, it's more on the bitter side but easy to drink or "süffig" as we say in Germany. Wouldn't get Krombacher if any other Pils was available though. It's a little bland and Nestlé is behind it.

must be an american thing to eat a ,, Brezel ,, with mustard or cheese .... in germany we eat them plain or with Butter 😊

There's alot good German food in "THE CINCINNATI AREA, WHICH INCLUDES NORTHERN KENTUCKY.!!!!!!" right across the bridge is the hofbrea house German outdoor food and beer. 30 diffrent German beers, best German food on this side of the pond.

Krombacher is okay I guess, although I prefer beers from Bavaria, in the south of Germany. Go look for Augustiner or Erdinger beers, they're really great. Or, if you wanna get something really special, hunt for Tegernseer or Traunsteiner beers. You might be able to get them in stores that specialize on imported beers, or you take a trip to Bavaria & check out these beers in their home country.

As a German I might add that the sizes are not German at all. Especially for 2023, since the green party took over here, most people can only afford 10% of these sizes for food.

German beers are pretty good, but even then they still can’t hold a candle to Belgian beers.
