Experience Chevelle's journey from their humble beginnings in Grayslake, Illinois, to becoming one of rock's most iconic bands. Brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler started playing music together, drawing inspiration from their musically adept family. They formed Chevelle with bassist Matt Scott, later joined by their younger brother Joe, whose talent quickly became undeniable.
Initially labeled as a Christian band due to their record label's affiliations, Chevelle pushed back against this stereotype, focusing instead on their unique sound. Their second album, "Wonder What's Next," propelled them to stardom with hits like "The Red" and "Send The Pain Below," solidifying their place in the rock scene.
Despite lineup changes and industry challenges, Chevelle continued to innovate, delivering albums like "Vena Sera" and "Sci-Fi Crimes," showcasing their raw, unapologetic sound. Their dedication to their craft and refusal to conform to industry norms set them apart, earning them a dedicated fan base.
With new music on the horizon and a legacy of powerful, introspective rock, Chevelle remains a force to be reckoned with. Stay tuned for updates on their upcoming album and join the journey of one of rock's most enduring bands. - Hudba
I can't believe there was no mention of "I get it" from the Vena Sera album, one of their best sings IMO.
God i hate it so much, when i want to write song, but it ends up being sing
Yeah, that was played on the radio a lot back then. Probably the last single of theirs that I've heard lol, but that's because the rock stations near me have died or changed.
One of their best songs from one of their best albums 👍🔥
Still jamming to "The Fad" and "Straight Jacket Fashion" more than a decade and a half later. Seriously, Vena Sera is so damn underrated.
Well Enough Alone has such a unique heavy energy to it and I don't think I've found a single person that didn't like it
Underrated band. I crank them at work often.
To magnify pain, is point number one.
Yeah they jammed. I got a free demo when I was buying one of system of a downs albums. I was a fan after that
Highly underrated!!!
played all day every day in Chicago area radio stations. over played even. probably cuz they are from there
I crank it at work too. ❤
About a year and a half ago on the way back from Chicago to Texas saw these guys on our flight. After the flight they were hanging out a bit by the gate so I thanked them for making awesome music and was gonna be on my way. They struck up an entire conversation with us and were asking lots of questions and even remembered the venue in our city! Really nice dudes.
Thanks for sharing
This is how they are. Really kind people and honest too. They still remembered me from a show when I was 14 or something, now I'm 26.
Chevelle is such a solid band overall. Thank you for this deep dive into them.
You’re welcome!
"hypocrisy of relgiion"
never understate the importance of them growing up in a conservative family
They were in fact HEAVILY influenced by christianity in high school and still to this day are deeply religious, though spiritually, not via the horrid catholic church
They didnt want to to be pigeonholed into that one genre
Sadly they were robbed by the "wesinteinepstein" labels and made very little money
Chevelle is one of my favorite bands. Love sooo many of their songs!!

Chevelle was really the first band I ever discovered on my own. Wish they got some more love they’re very underrated
Fan since the Point #1 days. Saw them open for Local H.
Chevelle is one of the better bands you'll ever see live. They are amazing. Still one of my top 5 favorite bands ever.
One of the most underrated bands ever
Pete looks like every 90's teenage rom-com actor fused into one.
Better looking Dane cook
He looks like Jimmy Fallon.
@@johnferrara5249I always say he looks like Jimmy Fallon lol, finally someone thinks the same 😂

I remember this guy in high school telling me Chevelle was nothing more than a Tool clone and I was like "Bro, WTF are you talking about?! Are you serious?" As a music nerd that plays multiple instruments, I was so offended for them, especially considering Chevelle's unique style and sound. Chevelle is nothing like Tool, musically, stylistically, or lyrically. In fact, Chevelle completely stood out compared to other rock bands at that time, as mentioned in the video.
Totally agree. Maybe a few "similar" guitar riffs, but 2 completely different bands.
@@jolenegall5545 It's more because of their voices
I've never understood the Chevelle and Tool comparisons. Two different entities entirely. I think Tool has their place, but they just depress me. I'll take Chevelle.
Chevelle is my favourite band since Wonder What's Next. After getting exhausted with the exposure Linkin Park had during the early 2000s, Chevelle came around and they became a breath of fresh air. Since then, I never missed out on a new Chevelle album.
Also, knowing that they are gearheads and naming the band after my favourite muscle car is so cool.

A 66 Chevelle was my first car in 1995. I also liked the band Chevelle from the start
Wow. Chevelle is one of my favorite bands but I actually knew very little about them. So awesome to hear they're still going strong and I hope to catch them live one day.
Currently on tour!
I met them once, when they were driving through my small town when i worked at safeway in highschool. Thier bus had "We're Lost" on the front of thw bus like where they were going.
I met thw stage manager, tour manager, 2 members and had the dopest hangout ever. Cliffs notes, i watched their little grill while the manager went to the hotel to get the band t p meet, and we drank red wine and coke, talked about music, and at one point i yanked a magazine insert from metal edge mag and the two signed it. Then we sang one the members girlfriend a song from the eagles into a cell phone. This would be in either 02 or o3
Chevelle is fantastic. One of the best live shows Ive ever been to. No pyro,no huge stage no frills, just killed it from start to finish. Hell,Pete played the show in a hoodie. Great vocalist,IMO.
Roswell's Spell is one of my favorite songs. Chevelle has been consistently good since Point #1. NIRATIAS (2021, I think) is one of their best albums and (i'd imagine, at least) wholly underrated. Great live band as well. Not much bad to say about these guys. They rock.
Jars is my favorite song 🎶
Same, Sci Fi crimes is a great album top to bottom. Same with HOTTB
It's pretty amazing that they put out an album like NIRIATAS this deep into their career!
I saw them open for breaking Benjamin in 2019. I’d never heard of them beforehand and by the time bb came on stage. I was more impressed with Chevelle. Unbelievable live band 25 years into their career too
Was that in Iowa? I was there.
Don't get me wrong, I love Breaking Benjamin and think they are underrated at as well, but no way in the world Chevelle should be opening for them. It should be the other way around. I agree about the longevity of Chevelle , such solid songs and consistency throughtout the years. I've had a Chevelle album in my car playing on repeat for years.
I was lucky enough to meet Pete and Joe, when he was in the band in 2002 and 2004. They stopped in to do an interview at 102.1 The Edge in Toronto and I met them in 2002, when they opened for Stone Sour and in 2004, when they were doing promo for This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In). When I met them in 2004, they remembered me from when I had met them in 2002 and Pete actually let me know the last 3 songs on This Type Of Thinking, as they weren't listed on the CD, when someone read the song titles out to me. Also, I had mentioned the Tool comparison to Pete in 2002 and he didn't seem to mind all that much. I even talked about the guitar tunings from album to album and I wonder if that may have made me stand out to them, besides the fact that I am blind and kinda small.
Pete's a pathological liar. I'm sorry you couldn't see it.
I’ve only recently discovered Chevelle. Last year, I heard First to Eleven cover The Red and decided to check out the original, then the album, and I loved it. I listened to La Gargola only days ago. Still got a lot to listen to but glad I discovered them, and had to watch this video when I came across it.
I really liked Chevelle until I saw them live.
Then they became one of my all time favorite bands. Huge fan to this day. They're also a big reason for my love of PRS guitars.
They are the reason I purchased a PRS. Just saw them live the other day and they were amazing
@@michaelhernandez5384 Who's playing bass for them now?
Pete switched to fender
I was impressed with their live sound!!
Chevelle is one of the best bands live
Chevelle is a damn good band I feel that never fully got over mainstream... Once I heard The Red for the first time back then I was hooked.
they are doing well. Lambos and Ferrari's in their garages.

My favorite band, saw them live twice
Thank you so much for covering one of my longest awaited suggestions of this channel. Very Underrated Band of the 2000s and when I heard their 2002 Album Wonder What's Next, I was Pumped!
Their Discography is really amazing! Even Point No. 1 has bangers like MIA.
Once Again, Thank you so much for covering the history of my favourite band.
Our pleasure!
One of the most underrated bands from that era! Absolutely love Chevelle since around 2001
One of the most consistent bands of the last 20 or so years. I've seen them about a half dozen times, and I really enjoy their no nonsense approach to shows.
i remember my friend first showed me chevelle in high school(class of 05) i didn’t like them at first. Then i caught them live at Ozzfest. Hearing and seeing them perform live was awesome and I quickly changed my attitude when they played “the red” omg I was blown! I still put them on today.❣️
I remember seeing them open up for Local H a few months before “The Red” started getting played on radio stations.
Saw them twice in concert- both shows f@cking rocked!
Chevelle Is one of the most underrated bands ever. Every album they have made has great songs
I was fortunate enough to watch Chevelle before they were anything but a bar band many years ago. I lived in the same county as them. I still remember seeing them the first time in a bar that didn’t hold more than 200 people and you could instantly tell that one day they would be signed. Just a whole Nother level above everyone else playing the bar scene.
Watched them live and they opened their set with grab thy hand.. i will never forget the energy in that venue when they played. Amazing band. Great dudes.
So glad I got to see them about a decade and a half ago. Such an epic band, love seeing them get a video finally!
I absolutely fucking LOVE Chevelle! Have since 2001. They are THEE most Underrated rock band, of ALL TIME!!!
Your videos keep getting better and better! Fantastic work!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
I meet them back in 2015 , Sam was very mello and genuinely stoked to talk to the fans! Criminally underrated band
Seen them live 3 times. Not gonna lie, they don’t have much stage presence but I just love how they make what sounds to me like laidback hard rock, if that makes sense lol. It’s soothing but heavy at the same time. Pete always has simple yet effective riffs. His vocal melody on Letter From A Thief is out of this world. But that’s just one example. I also like his lyrics, as they can be very mysterious which leaves it wide open for you to decide what you want the song to be about.
I saw them in California here at the Fresno Fair. It was 2012 around during the "Hats Off to the Bull" tour and Pete had a great quote for a fan in the front row: "That's a bad ass beard, bro." Right before jamming to a tune.
@@joeomalley2835 Haha 🤣 I seen them during the Sci-fi Crimes tour and that was probably my favorite concert from them. Sick Puppies opened (remember them?) and they had some insane energy. Seen them again around 2016 and then again last fall. All solid concerts but the Sci-fi album was my favorite so that tour takes the cake.
Please, Pete....Release that new album. I know it will kick ass. You guys have never made a bad album. Best band in your genre. Never sold out for commercial success. I listen to Chevelle every single day. Rock on....
Excellent research! Their name sounds like Leffler, the o is silent. The NIRATIAS album they put out in 2021 is really great. I’m looking forward to the next one. Thanks for posting this video!
Amazing and beautiful song. Did you ever attend any of their concert?
Interesting! Going by the spelling I always thought it was "L-off-ler".
Grew up in the same area and have always loved this band…
I saw them in April 2010 in Springfield MA opening for 3 Days Grace. They were so amazing. My child was born 1/08/11 so do the math. That was a great night.😊
I might be alone here, but I'd LOVE to hear about Fair to Midland. I just discovered them a couple years ago and they were already split. They put out 2 albums but we're unbelievably amazing!
This channel the best of it's kind... thank you for all the hard work and research you put in to it.
I’ve been a fan of theirs since 99 with the Point #1 album long before the were famous.
Great band.
Chevelle is a real rock band. The lyrics are on a different level
Every album is a banger. Easily in my top three bands of all time. So glad they're chugging along after so long. Excellent video, my friend!
This was excellently put together. Thanks for doing this!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Aww man the clincher, I still rock out to that
I worked at a Culver’s in Grayslake IL back in the early 2000’s before these guys blew up. They would come in to hang band posters for gigs they were playing. One of them had a white supercharged camero which was badass!! Super humble guys back then and probably still are. Was really stoked to hear them on the radio two years later!!
By far best band I’ve seen live, it was last year in Springfield IL
I bought their first album when it came out. The Springfield MO radio station used to play the song Mia
Seldom discussed but kickass version of Depeche Mode's "It's No Good"..... last track on "Wonder What's Next"... Strong finish to a great album! 🤘🏻
Chevelle is one of the few bands from that era of rock that I genuinely like they really stood out amongst the trash that was the whole nu-metal era
I agree
Excellent live band. I saw them 3 times during the TToT/Vena Sera/Sci Fi era. Absolutely worth it.
Brings me back to high school memories.
One of my fave bands. Got to see them in 2010 and they killed it. Looking forward to another album!
Seen them MANY times. One of the best bands in the last decade.😊
Dean was in a band as a drummer called Liftpoint, we use to play with them loads back in the day
I think u read my mind . Was listening to them yesterday and said I want to learn everything about this band and how he plays guitar
This has been my fav band since I first heard Point #1 when it came out. I love how they always keep to their core sound even when they try new stuff. They are so good. So glad I got to see them live a few years ago.
Pete and Joe’s harmonies were top tier
Back in early 2000 - I was a hardcore fan of these dudes. I went to see them at the HOB in Orlando. It was 30 seconds to Mars and taproot with chevelle being the headliner. Best show ever.
Thanks for this!! I saw Chevelle a couple years ago as one of the bands playing ahead of Breaking Ben up here in Scranton PA(near where Ben is from) and wish I had left after Chevelle. They were absolutely amazing and outplayed & outclassed BB by miles. I have an amazing silhouette picture of Pete that could be on a live album cover it’s so cool. I only have one of their t shirts after hearing how little they’ve made(zero) off of albums I’ll go ahead to their site and order another and check out where they’re playing this summer. If anywhere near NE Pennsylvania my wife will go. Great band. Very unique
You should cover THE NIXONS from Texas they weren’t huge but I would be interested.
Sister is a great song from them
Great band
I have been a HUGE fan of Chevelle right from the get go! I remember watching the video for "The Red" and thinking to myself - who's this, and they ROCK!
I have never seen them live and would absolutely love to see them someday. I keep checking in on their website from time to time to see if they have any new music.
I wish they could recapture that sound from Wonde What's New & This Type of Thinking (Could do us In)
Wonder What's Next has been my GO TO pump me up music in the gym... love it!!
Same here listen to them in the gym
They've played at Summerfest in Milwaukee a bunch of times, and always put on a great show. It's a rock band that attracts a fair share of ladies. Music with purpose. Can't go wrong seeing Chevelle live.
I loved this band, borrowed all their albums from my brother. As soon as I turned 18 my brother took me to see them live. It was at some club with a stage. Very close up and personal. I was amazed they weren't doing huge concerts with how successful they were at the time. To this day, still the best concert I've ever been to. I was so absorbed into the band and the music, felt like it was a personal show just for me
It's cool how we both saw Alice in Chains for the first time the same year! Around that time, they've had their fair share of interesting openers, and it's not surprising that Chevelle happened to be one of them. I first got into Chevelle back in 2004 when their song "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)" got big, and hearing that Steve Albini took a chance on them when they debuted made me appreciate their craft more. Glad they're still out there!
Yeah I had awesome seats for that show. Side stage section 134 or 136 from what I recall. Alice put on an amazing show!
Chevelle never disappoints.
This was done really well. Very interesting. Thank you!
Dude so this was a sleeper band I'd sat on for years with the only album I'd listened to was "this type of thinking." Then one day I heard "safer waters" and was blown away, I had to hear more. Awesome video dude 👍
This is so cool. I loved hearing about their origins and Pete's musical influences. I love the historical approach to the video. I was a tad late to the Chevelle scene, but heard a song named "The Clincher" on the radio maybe about 2006 or 2007 and thought " Wow, these guys are amazing." I went out and tried to listen to everything they produced. I consider Chevelle one of my favorite bands of all time right next to Foo Fighters or Queen or Soundgarden or Def Leppard. I've bought ever single album and try to find their hidden songs out there, too. Anyhow, love the deep dive into this band. Thanks!
A kid on my bus handed me a copy of this type of thinking probably in early 2005. I had heard the red a million times coming from my sisters room, but basically didn’t want to like anything she did like. This type of thinking is still in my top 10 favorite albums all these years later.
The north corridor is such an underrated album. Definitely one of my favorite albums of all time
Amazing and very detailed story. Thank you
Thank you for the post! 🤘🏻✌🏼😊

Great video.
Chevelle is one of my all time favorite bands. I never miss a show when they come to my town and have learned all the bass lines. Not all that difficult but fun to play.
I really wish Dean would have stayed with the band. The guy is amazing
Thanks!
I randomly got fed these guys in my feed a few years back. Now I listen to them all the time. Awesome sounding band. I love em. They remind me of the 90s club bar scene. Would fit right in with Filter or White Zombie. (Oh wow they brought a Filter member in cool.)
Chevelle is one of my favorite bands. I remember seeing the video for "Mia" on MTv's Flying Indie segment and it just grabbed me. I still have my original copy of Point #1 from high school.
I met them in Philly after a show with Local H. Great dudes
First time I heard The Clincher I was sold! Learned it on guitar and still jam it till this day!
This is one of my favorite bands of all time. I've seen them in concert a couple times, and met them at one. Cool guys!
Their discography from "Wonder What's Next" to "La Gargola" has banger after banger on the albums. I can listen to all of those albums from front to back, and with very few exceptions, never skip a song. They're just that good. I wish the reactor community would get on board and listen to some to help spread the word about the band, because they're quite talented, and know how to craft a very catchy, and groovy song.
Love Chevelle.. saw them with Thirty Seconds to Mars back in ‘05..
great show.
Love the channel. Keep it up!
I saw them at Birch Hill in Old Bridge, NJ when I was picking up tickets for an upcoming show my band was playing. Mike from Concerts East let me stay to watch them. They were really tight.
Have yet to put out a dud. Niratias album is amazing. Keep it goin boys!
Solid band!!!! They definitely have their own sound and that has carried them through the years.
I saw these guys live at a club in Jacksonville Florida . They tore it up , one of the best bands live I have seen . Just 3 guys on a stage playing music that punches you straight on the face . Highly recommend them if you like their music .
Sci-fi Crimes was their masterpiece
Agree.
I seen Chevelle at a smaller venue in NY years ago and it was the best concert I've ever been to.
Dang I didn’t know they had a new album ready to go. Very excited. The last one felt like a breath of fresh air.
love Chevelle-this was a great story Thanks🤘
Glad you enjoyed it
Chevelle is a band that was just so consistent throughout all these years
Saw them at the NORVA. It was awesome.
I did too! Small world
Opening Wonder What’s Next with Family System was a statement that this band doesn’t mess around.
I saw them open for Stone Sour in 2002 a week before Wonder What's Next came out and they were just ok. I saw them again in 2010 when Sci Fi Crimes came out and it was like night and day! They sounded so good and had such a strong presence. Great band and their last album was fantastic!
Vena Sera might be one of the best albums of this century
I looked chevelle! I think they're still criminally underrated
Man what a great band I miss those days!
I thought the Red was a Tool song for several years. I then got into Chevelle a little deeper and really enjoyed their albums.
Super underrated band.
I always liked Chevelle. A Letter from a Theif is one of my favs by them. Same with Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin. They were cool too.
