Some of the best flying i've had on MSFS is flying your routes. It's just stunning. You guys certainly earn your money.
Thank you Ryan for the opportunity to give back to the people of PNG. We take a great deal of joy from flying these same skies, albeit virtually. Hopefully we can help out again in the near future.
Love Bush Drivers, wish they were around when I was messing around on flight sim 👍👍
Classy.........
@@PaddyPilot Thanks Paddy! You guys should meet up sometime (even if virtually)! Bet you both could tell some stories haha.
@@milesdee1806 All for the love of aviation and our fellow man, cheers!
I bet we could
The Simworks Studio Kodiak is scheduled for release in November following any corrections enforced by the Oct 19th SU6. Hopefully we will be getting the NTE and Z liveries
It looks like I will not get rid of my severe aviophobia just watching this type of videos. And those few seconds of flying through the clouds... Wow...
Always a pleasure .... Thx Ryan
Always enjoy your flights.
I just got the Kodiak for MSFS and was looking for instructions from a real pilot. Loved the video and will definitely check out more. 🗺️🛩️
Thank you Ryan for all you do for these people and thanks for the content :)
Excellent flight Ryan!!
Hi Las Vegas Craig here again Ryan your content just gets better and better
I watch at least 5 pilot channels on you tube you are my favorite I watch every one of your videos I find. Where you fly how you fly and all the extras you do for the communities of Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 show us what aviation can do to help people in remote areas where they’re not many roads if at all.
I know each time I’m going to enjoy your videos
Best wishes and bravo 👏🏻 to you and your family
Thanks
Another awesome flight back to Goroka. Thanks Ryan.
Thanks again Ryan
Outstanding!
love it when pilots set up cameras like this- nice wide view of the cockpit controls
Super video. Thanks for all the work involved to bring us this amazing content.
Another beautiful flight. Clouds are gorgeous. Saved this for future training. 🙏
Appreciate your work views. xx
great video mate awesome
Thank you for these videos, sir. I got the Simworks Kodiak and these videos are perfect! awesome plane!
Thank you Ryan for all the excellent content! I’ve started flying the SWS Kodiak in MSFS and am looking forward to working through your online course.
your videos are so chill, thanks so much for doing these. the cameras were particularly well place on this. the wide angle of the interior was great. thanks!
This was amazing. Very helpful. Thank you very much!
loved it
At 10:50 to 11:02, I can see the coast of Sialum, Kanzarua..❤️💯🙌🏾 And thank you Ryan for this, will definitely check out this flight sim for the Kodiak..And very true, every flight is unique in its own way..
Just bought the course,
You are awesome!
So glad i get such a well made sim model of the kodiak and having your course on it.
Nice video, interesting, as always👍
Thanks Ryan for this great flight starting with the awesome coastline south of Madang through the clouds and holes over the Ramu valley and a cool landing at Goroka. God bless and stay safe!
Thanks for these videos. I’m currently waiting on my medical clearance so I can start training. Been waiting over a year all together. Watching you fly keeps me going.
Love it ❤❤
Pratt & Whitney Dependable Engines. Love it!
Just purchased the Simworks Studio Kodiak 100 and it's AMAZING! I am getting your training for sure.
I have the Kodiak 100 for FS2020. It's awesome! I also ordered your backlit checklist box to use with my flightsim setup.
Beautiful landing & a cool video, with great camera angles. Slainte, Captain
The Simworks Kodiak for Microsoft flight simulator is amazing I highly recommend it. Easily one of the best planes for the sim or maybe even the best in my opinion. When I add up what I have spent for this sim it is quite interesting to say the least 😂 Simworks Kodiak is around 30 pounds in the UK (at least currently) not the cheapest or the most expensive but money well spent.
I haven't used flight sims in forever but your PNG flights have inspired me to learn more about operating aircraft!
Nice to hear a South African Working in PNG 🇿🇦🇿🇦👍👍
Love the channel. Picked up MS Flight sim and flew out of Goroka twice in a Cessna 152. Lots of bad weather last couple of days it seems. Had a a couple of gnarly mud runway landings but was able to make it. Someday would love to see the place in person.
So nice
Hi Ryan,if I was a pilot in training I would certainly listen to you,you come across very clear and full of sound knowledge, but I,m retired and watch your vids for entertainment and they are always so well done, thankyou for taking the time to help others, take care and stay safe until next time
You're an incredible teacher, I look forward to signing up for your training during holiday vacation time. Thanks for doing this!
Enjoy
The "Taws System Test, OK" lady sounds super excited about her job of informing you The System Test was ok. :) That always humors me. Thanks for the great video's.
Great video. I picked up the plane in mfs yesterday. Great so far.
It's good you're staying clear of the cumuliogranite clouds
love your vids u must love your job.............
Just bought the infamous Kodiak today! 😃
Thanks.....
Great advice on picking a "spot" to aim for your turn to final on regular routes to a regular airport. I heard that years back from a wise 'ol check pilot and never forgot it. I was AMAZED how much easier my VRF approaches became.......
For sure
Love it so much! Bush Divers also approached me and are doing a Porter 👌
Very cool
Thanks for the ride-along. Didn't feel any of those bumps; must be my special seat 😁
Am not a pilot. But watching your Vlog with detailed explanation of the instrument procedures of the bird "NTK" is awesome. I feel enlightened to learn alot..thumps up Ryan.
You should probably be getting alot more views now that the Kodiak has been released for MSFS 2020. Great video.
Mike Alpha Kilo sounds like a SAFFA to me... glad to know he trained you well!
You replied to my comment about Sim works should be sponsoring you for a mention. I am pleased to hear you have done this. For us. For yourself. For the mission.
They said they were going to make my livery, but I haven't heard back in a few months from them.
I flew the Lionheart Creations' Kodiak in FSX back in the day and am looking forward to Simworks Studios release of the Kodiak for MSFS 2020 right after up date 6. Thanks for the course Ryan, I am looking forward to it.
Thanks to these Videos, I've started flying the Lionheart Kodiak again, for FS9!
It's a great airplane, and I've found PNG Scenery out there that works great!
Thanks for making these Videos! 👍😄
Good job 👍 👍 👍 great ‼️ thanks for sharing 👍 👍 👍 👍 I really enjoyed your flight always 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Great video. Just bought the kodiak for msfs. Trying to work out how to set the torque (and what it is 😂) . Excellent content
It's so amazing that you're offering this course. I wish I could afford it but I live in SA where the exchange rate is 15:1. Excellent video as usual! :)
Maybe I'll run some discounts in the future
@@MissionaryBushPilot that will be good as stands your cours is 1.67 times the price of the plane. The release date on the plane is planned to be announced nov26
Nice.............so then, have a very good day.........................
Would honestly watch if you streamed these flights.
That would be hard to do, but pretty cool too
Hey Ryan I'm Andrew. I live in Milwaukee, WI. I'm new to your channel. I started the process a few months ago, but I lost interest in getting my private pilot license. Since I've been watching your videos, I have started that process again. What I really love and what really captured me was the way you walk me through all the little details about how to operate the aircraft. What is that black disk next to your right knee and what does it do? Thanks so much for the awesome content!
You have my dream job. Oh well. Next life. :)
If was fun to see NTE's shadow on the ground from the left wing camera as you turned final. For the "1,000th time" going into Goroka, it was still a fun flight.
I agree -- it's always fun to watch the airplane and its shadow mating up, as it were.
I'm going to get proper flight sim equipment next month (been using the xbox controller for years), I'll be using your affiliate links! You are by far the best pilot vlog, and it's not just PNG, it's the stories you tell and explaining everything, such great content!
Glad you enjoy them
hey Ryan!
Hi, Im "TCAS System Ok" Ryan! Good morning...
👍 Thanks once again.
Started flying in the early 70s through Civil Air Patrol. Actually had my pilot's license before my driver's license. lol
Anyway what a coincidence after Decades of flying I finally decided to get a simulator. Mostly so I could fly places I'll never get to go, like PNG. Staying current isn't a priority with it since I fly all time. Mostly hopscotching between our ranch in the Ozarks, family in Colorado, and then the ranch in Arizona. I will be getting X-Plane since it uses a disc and doesn't need a full-time connection to the internet, just to call home, which I can do with the phone. Perhaps I'll finally break down and put The Tower up needed to get high-speed data. But I'm resisting, although the tower could double as a ham radio setup.
500 ft is respectable for that size plane. I'm sure the turboprop helps. How long is that Runway? Noticed it ended in the water LOL.
How long is Goroka? The Kong runway about 5000', the short around 3000'
The Kodiak is remarkably close to being launched for MSFS2020. I am following the dev team and they were expected to launch late august. Hopefully, they will launch the plane before December.
November is the plan once SU6 has settled. PNG in MSFS is going to be rammed 😂
I think that I will just try using a couple language learning techniques, for learning the Kodiak 100 better. I mean this, as long as it works.
Maybe you can feature a video why you prefer to fly a Kodiak compared to other competitors of the same plane category.
I have both MSFS but give X-plane 11 a go and 12 is on the way. In my opinion one is eye candy then the other is has the better dynamics.
That's what I've heard from others too
If you go X plane route you may want to check Thranda Quest Kodiak G1000 and Ortho4XP (for satellite terrain). Latter one significantly improves graphics (IMO not all the way to level of MSFS but it certainly helps).
Yup, visual way-points are so important and necessary. LaGuardia in NYC has the twin tanks and the Long Island Expressway. Miss those and you've just pissed off a lot of people. 😤
the latest flight sims give you an excellent view of what the inside of a line of thunderstorms looks like, something like the dark, roiling, unforgiving land of Mordor which is best avoided by both hobbits and flyers in real world
Thought I saw “how to fly the Kodiak” training manual yesterday. Got home after midnight, couldn’t find it. Is this still available? Thanks, really enjoy your videos.
I need a job like that, I have the PPL, I guess you need to be "connected"
Good timing as there's a Kodiak coming to msfs before the end of the year.
There is!?!! :) Who's releasing it?
@@jester55 Simworks Studios
yes hopefully in a couple of weeks
@@jester55 They’re just waiting for sim update 6, in case there’s anything that needs fixing post update.
@@MissionaryBushPilot I hope they’ve done a MBP livery. You are the world’s most famous Kodiak pilot after all 😉
Love your content that remind me of my turbine days in the Caribbean and Portugal in the 1980’s….flew Convair 580 after the Merlin then to the Beech 1900D before Airbus in 2001…what WX Radar are you using?
I don't remember the name of the radar. It's good for about 40-60 miles
Thanks for the extra explanations, your videos are always interesting and informative (and really show off the beauty of PNG).
QUESTION: would you describe how the planes are configured different than might be common in, say the US, for additional redundancy and low-tech field ops safety? IE: two batteries mentioned at 1:06) Thanks!
About the only differences between Ryan's Kodiak and mine (flown in the USA) is mine has air conditioning, radar, and no V2 tracker.
yup, there is also a nicer interior version with less seats, but ours holds 8 pax
TAMBU Long Kapupu. Are you kidding me? No farting in the aircraft? 😂😂😂😂😂 I'm in the aircraft in the sim and looking at this sign on the dash. Dead. 😅
Ryan, just a wierd thing, I show NTZ on the ground now at Hoskins... Pacific time 1646 Sunday
That's because it's Monday here
Interesting comment about your first flight through cloud being a bit disconcerting even after all your IFR training. So many pilots still crashing when having to unexpectantly hand fly through clouds/IMC, especially VFR-only rated pilots, but also IFR-rated pilots. Seems like more ongoing/regular training/practice is required for this. Liked your use of lights too when departing - not just about hi-tech stuff. Tricky bouncy approach! Cheers.
Yes, with IFR flying, you don't ever "loose" it, bit you can definitely become less proficient if you don't practice
One thing stands out in his video's: his ah shit alternatives stated up front. AWESOME. thank you...
👍🏴
This would definitely be my dream (family) airplane, if it was autothrottle. But I wonder if this is compatible with STOL capacity.
This would definitely be my dream (family) airplane, if it was autothrottle. But I wonder if this is compatible with STOL ability?
The only time I ever heard a chime like this was flying in a chartered plane and with my coworker... told me it's the traffic warning system if you get close to another aircraft :D
One question though: How does the kodiak compare to the Turbo Porter in terms of the short runways and insane reverse thrust needed for the papua region? Also is there something comparable to the beta mode on the porter? I'm so regularily using beta that I would turn sad if I can't loose altitude like that :D
Hi Ryan, whats up with the standby attitude indicator ?
First of all, thank you, I've been following your videos for a while. One question: Is the red lever for enriching the rich and lean mixture used the same as in a Cessna 172? That is to say, according to height do we impoverish or enrich the mixture? If so, from what height I am surprised that you took off with a lean mixture. Another question in the simulator I have stalled twice with this plane, it has never happened to me before in any sim and I always play in realism mode both in xplane and in mfs. Does it happen to me on takeoff, it turns very hard at times uncontrollably? And in flight it also happened to me, not being at maximum power, what could cause it?
PNG land of the unexpected, I like that. Any story on UFO or UAP Ryan? :)
Nope, never seen one
@@MissionaryBushPilot Please excuse me. I’m just kinda curios. Thx Ryan 😊👍
Ah yes, the first time you climb up to 10k and you see the curvature of the earth and deep blue beyond if it's CAVOK. A once in a lifetime experience.
For sure
are these go pro cams your using.
In the video, your checklist box items change colors, each being highlighted in green as you go. Is this a video feature only (eg, to show what's going on) or does each item actually light up according to the checklist sequence?
Where did you do all your training PPL and CPL?
at 4:25 u dont use the back up adi?
I have a question regarding the harness and inertial reels, why is the Kodiak equiped with this? Is it in case of an emergency landing?
The most difficult part about this flight has to be trying to make any sense of what the heck ATC is saying. I’ve been flying for 15 years (fixed wing PPL and Helicopter Instrument commercial) but lucky for me it has all been in the U.S. so I’ve never had to try a decipher someone talking at 100 miles an hour with a thick accent. That’s got to take some getting used to.
Most of the Papua New Guinea air fields aren't equipped with VOR nor NDB, how do you navigate to these airports?
Random question, but what wrist watch are you wearing in this video?
Curious: In my home flight sim I tend to use FLC for climbing and VS on decent because it feels safer. Is there a reason you stay with VS. I'm not a pilot so my question be foolish, but, I was wondering why?
because the autopilot we have on the Kodiak is not very sophisticated. If you pick an altitude, it will not hold the VS, eventually bleeding it off until the airplane stalls if you let it go that far, so you have to manually adjust it every 5oo ft
@@MissionaryBushPilot Thank you for the reply. I think I understand, you've made calculations to reach a certain altitude and position at a specific time. Its probably a home flight sim problem. I set up VS to 500 and stepped away to use the restroom. When I got back I found the plane had stalled. If I set the FLC to max climb at 74 knots it would've eventually leveled off at where it couldn't climb anymore.
I suppose its another example of why real world aviation in a commercial environment includes much more than just flying a plane.
Again, I've learned much, about flying, from your channel Mr. Ryan. Thank you.
P2NTE...is that phonetic for a night time problem? 🌙
I've always wanted to know what watch you're wearing Ryan?
It's a Ginault watch
