    *Construction seemed sturdier than other units I considered **MyBest.Tools** Noise level was reasonable. Good pressure and cfm capacity for a small reasonably light compressor.*

    You should be able to wire your gauge light to the switch beside it. Just ground one wire, and connect the other to the switch. Depending on which switch terminal you connect it to, it will be on with the key, or only when you have the safety switch on, your choice. Never mind, you already figured that out. This is what I get for commenting before the end of the video

    Another way to have air is to plumb your compressor to your bumper and use them like a tank that way you could hide your pump behind the spare tire in the quarter panel and gain storage space in your cargo area

  • @Soulrider2012
    @Soulrider2012 Před 8 lety +5

    I thought initially it was going to power an air -ride system. However, hearing what you actually plan on using it for, I would be very surprised if that unit will power air tools with enough air continuously to make them run properly. Maybe with the twin compressors but I still doubt it. It would be fine for airing up your tires, basketball, football, beach ball, raft, etc and maybe run an air horn or two but air tools...I'm guessing no.
    Now that the video is a couple of years old I'd love to see a follow up comment as to how well it works (whether it works) with air tools as was the plan for it.

    • @AndrewBrowner
      @AndrewBrowner Před 6 lety

      i think itll do fine.. youll obviously be waiting fo rit to catch up but youre not running a tire shop so if you have to spend an extra few minutes waiting for the compressor when you need to swap tires or take one off for trail repairs not a big deal.. idk what the refill time is but id guess less than 2 minutes to go from 50psi to 120psi
      a die grinder with this would be pretty unbearable but in the woods in a pinch itll do the trick, the tank size is really the limiting factor not the pumps you could add a tank if you had room

    • @AndrewBrowner
      @AndrewBrowner Před 6 lety

    great installation job. it looks really good. i stumbled upon your channel while surfing for cherokee vids after purchasing my second xj.and had to subscribe. love your creativity and humor. I am curious about that unit. the rated cfm for your 380C compressor setup from Viair is only 1.84@90 psi. each. Twin mounted units, providing 3.64 cfm @ 90 psi, Most air tools for automotive repair will require a minimum of 5 to 6 cfm to operate adequately. Have you had an opportunity to use your 1/2" impact gun with this setup in the field?

  • @Dexter_Solid
    @Dexter_Solid Před 10 lety

    Stupid question, but if you're gonna do a self contained removable unit, why not just get a cheapy one from the local tractor store? Something like this is meant to be shoved up in some nook on your vehicle somewhere and just always be there when you need it, especially since like you said its just for air tool and tires etc..

    Hey Matt ! wouldn't you have been better to install it un-switched (ignition switch) since it is mostly for tools & inflation purpose when the jeep doesn't need to be running and you're out of the vehicle. And also for your purpose of taking it out sometimes It might have been better to use a quick disconnect for the power/ground cables no ?
    But I love the video and your set up.

    • @michelthebassplayer
      @michelthebassplayer Před 10 lety

      bleepinjeep I meant that you don't have to have the ignition switch on to power your compressor just it's own switch to turn it on. The same way that I have my winch set up on my Jeep. I can use it with the ignition on or off this way it can be use for pulling something without having everything else on that comes with the ignition being on depending on your vehicle... It's perfectly safe since it is fused and has it's own on/off switch but hooked straight to the battery.

    🔥🔥 I have 4 VIAIR air compressors and a 2 1/2 gallon tank. I’m looking for the best hose that does not leak air pressure when I’m running 200 psi. Also, I would like to know how accurate are the digital air pressure gauges with a pressure sensor that you screw into your air tank with a digital gauge in the vehicle to monitor the air pressure. I would love to know how accurate those gauges really are. I would really like to know what’s the best air pressure fittings as far as the fittings and the airlines to use to reduce air pressure leaks. I have pumped my system up to 250 psi. None of the hoses blew off but there’s small leaks that I am having a hard time finding. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

But it comes with a ring termnal. I heard you say "ignition hot" when hooking up switches too. What do you think is the best spot to hook up a ignition power wire?

    • @waynesanders1406
      @waynesanders1406 Před 2 lety

      I'm just now re-watching this. Considering the ground location and longevity.... (depending on where you live) amperage will travel through the body. If you live in a rust belt type area that can cause bodily corrosion in that path way given how many amps those things draw. I learned this from a guy that grounded a hydrogen generator in that manner, although the generator was basically on almost the entire time the car was on. I don't know how much of a problem it would be 15-20 years down the road. But if you live where they salt the highways I would just run a dedicated wire straight from the battery. XJ rarity increases every year and you don't want to be fixing body rust that's been accumulating for over 10 years beyond your awareness.

    Sorry, Bro, but this is the wrong tool for your particular job. They sell specific compressors for what you are going to try and use this one for. I understand people trying to get all creative, but when you do the math, this system is counter productive, and most-likely will not even propel the internal piston of an airtool, at a usable speed.
