Great video and I agree with most of what you have here. The one thing that I feel should have been noted is that the Glowforge is a CO2 laser and the xTool is a diode laser. So while the xTool does have a 40w version a 40w diode is not exactly the same as a 40w CO2. To get to 40w on with a diode they have to use several smaller (5w-7w)diodes together that they focus through a single lens giving the combined 40w output; where the CO2 is still a single laser that is reflected from the laser tube to the cutting head with mirrors. The end result is that the diode ends up having a larger laser spot (due to the mechanical difficulties of focusing 8 separate diodes through the single lens) which will mean it will not have quite as fine of details in engravings. Also because the diode laser is blue and CO2 laser is red materials react differently to the laser. For example a CO2 laser can cut and engrave clear acrylic where a diode cannot cut clear acrylic at all (you can get some semblance of engraving on clear acrylic but it takes some work). All in all, I totally agree the xTool is a much better value for most people and your video clear shows why.

You had me at paper weight, 40 year contractor here and I have a lot of those, some I love so much I buy them used when I can find them and they cry when they fail.

What are your thoughts on the x tool p2 that’s about to launch? I was literally about to purchase the glowforge when I came across the ad. Im so conflicted!

Good to know. I’m probably gonna try tweaking things here and there to try to get better on video, but now I know to try to keep my cadence consistent. Thanks for the input!
