      Star Trek needs to go into deep hybernation for ten, twenty years before anything genuinely novel or exciting could emerge. As it stands it's purely an exercise from seperating the movie-goer from his money.

  • @shaggycan

    What I find super puzzling with both star franchises is that the fans keep telling the producers exactly what they want and they keep making something completely unwanted. Like imagine a trailer close up of old Captain Riker strokes his greying beard, 'its good to be home' pan over to the view screen and boom HD CGI DS9 as the USS Titan goes into dock. Like fans would explode.

    They could drop Hemsworth (given he only had a cameo sized role in 09 Trek) and recast him with a cheaper actor which would then give Paramount more money to fulfill the deal Pine signed in 2016.

      I never cared for Anton, his Russian accent was unconvincing, and his meek neurotic unmanliness grated on my nerves. Getted pinned by a runaway SUV was the best great career move he could have made. Getting his arm lopped half-off in Green Room presaged his perfectly timely end. Yeah yeah edgy af, I know. This is just how I express that I emphatically was not an admirer of his work or his personality.

      I have to agree. If Chris Pine wants out of the deal, he should have talked to the producers about it before production began on STB, not wait until now, when ST4 is about to begin production. Unless Chris Pine have a contract to do one more Star Trek movie. In that case, he's shit out of luck.

    Good. Abrams' bastardization of Star Trek has completely destroyed Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future. Exploration, human relationships, current events. To state my opinion, I think Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth did a great job in the movies of Star Trek. Both were magnificent and I hope that Paramount reconsidets it's position. Besides, if movie Corporations want their movies to get out first they need to establish better relations with Actors. Better relations means better movies get.
    JJ Abrams did alright with Star Trek. Not with Star Wars but Star Trek yes. I am sorry if this offends people but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think it would be a shame not to see the real actors in the next movie. Besides in my movie opinion the next Star Trek movie is gonna be great. And I look forward to it, remember better relations better movies go smoothly. Sure there will be complications but if Star Trek dies, then the dreams they gave to us will die with it.

    Paramount is trying to stiff the actors in a successful franchise.
    If they decide to recast Kirk, the upside is that they could use this opportunity to recast Anton's part as Chekhov. As far as that goes, Paramount could just go cheap and recast the whole crew... Besides, if Tarantino directs it, everyone is going to die by the end of the movie anyway, true fact!
    Come on Paramount, Star Trek has loyal fans that will be upset if the crew gets jerked about. Replacing or at least dealing with the Chekhov issue will be hard enough, replacing Kirk also...? Not a good move!

      The Star Trek TV series debuted in 1966, unless you had some way of viewing the unaired first pilot for Star Trek which was completed in 1965, you did not become a fan until 1966 at the earliest.

    I don´t know what some people are talking about. I liked the last 3 entries with this cast. A lot. Effects were amazing on all of them too, and nominated for oscars. I remember Alonso liking even the very last one.

    • @cjwright79
      @cjwright79 Před 5 lety

      This is exactly what turns me off, talking about the effects rather than the ideas. Star Trek has power when it's presenting an alternate vision of the future where people aren't consumed by materialism, not just as a flashy lights show.

    • @sanyrub
      @sanyrub Před 5 lety

      The effects was secondary in my comment. I just pointed out that they were amazing. In general I liked the movies, not just the effects. I knew pretty much nothing about Star Tek before these 3 movies. I suppose it has to do with that. Hardcore older fanboys are always too much in all genres.

      Blame the retarded decisions made by Paramount and Viacom executive management. They rode the studio into financial ruin to the tune of a loss of way over 400M by making idiotic decisions like releasing Beyond in the middle of a competitive summer blockbuster month instead of releasing it on Star Trek's 50th Anniversary later in the year.

      Nah, the last one wasn't emotionally engaging. I didn't really care what happened to the characters in the movie because of this fact. Far preferred the two previous ones to that one. Star Trek Beyond was totally forgettable.

    • @WackyWOLVERINEE
      @WackyWOLVERINEE Před 5 lety

      Kerr Avon the first two movies have basically same out come. Kirk learns to become a leader and spock learns to feel emotions. I preferred the third one overall, they didn't have too many over the top action scenes and when they did. It felt like they were relevant to the story, not to show all the pretty explosions and destruction. I found it more emotionally engaging imo. It didn't have a pointless love story in it. And I feel like overall they progressed as characters. Out of all the 3 Star Trek movies the third one felt the most like Star Trek.

    • @DagmarSLNY
      @DagmarSLNY Před 5 lety

      It lost money. The studio doesn't get the entire box office and with post production, marketing and licensing royalty costs a Star Trek movie has to roughly make double its production budget to be profitable. The production budget for Beyond was ~$185M and the total Box Office gross was ~$344M.
