      Because Dubai is Monarchy, there's little to no bureaucracy, if the King wants something built it gets built. With some African countries you have to contend with corruption which is why Akon wants to go to cryptocurrency so money goes to where it's supposed to go and not into a special interests pockets. Corruption, bribery, instability is usually what holds a lot of African nations back from developing but Nations like Rwanda & Botswana are doing really well.

So how do you think we travel to USA and Europe?...... most tickets to most african countries dont even get to $1000. I don't think the problem is the grind. I think the problem is the lack of capacity of the locals to take up the opportunity. Look at a Las Vegas. No one who was a local their 80 years ago, is now part of the the cities wealthy. Africans have not the skill sets to learn and take the skills and go and build their own... $3Bil is a huge bill that you are contracting back to your creditors...

      He's got a good idea to build solid infrastructure in an area that it is needed; but his vision of it being a hyper futuristic city is why people don't like it. This its remarkably similar to the failed futuristic cities in dubai that failed. I hope this guy rethinks the architecture and technology aspect and instead uses modern cities like new york and tokyo and combine it with africas culture to give its own identity.

Honestly said, he's the only renowned Black-American singers which I came across so far that visualize a step ahead of building a properous future for Black American community in The USA to guarantee them a bright assurance in their life. Something that has been foresaw by Akon for such a long time and he knows how to secure the next generation of the American Black community's fate by any means necessary.

    I have heard a lot of criticism but projects like this are so exciting! I absolutely love the idea of modernizing but leveraging technologies to contribute to lowering the cost of maintaining life. This motivates me more to work on my own tiny, tiny project in comparison to this. Maybe once I have the foundation of my project complete, I can draw inspiration to create a futuristic, tiny community. I would love to have luxury, minimalistic living spaces that collect rain water, hydroponic farming and maybe even raise fish, clean energy, innovative ways to recycle and/or remove waste etc. I would want to create a situation where people can invest in a living situation that will result in a very low debt free living. I wish him success and to be an inspiration to others.

    Ambitious project. Big respect. How will it sustain itself though?
    I'm assuming foreign experts are being paid to construct it and the difficult job positions won't be filled by indigenous people if they're not educated or qualified enough to work expert jobs.

    • @ShyanTheLegend
      @ShyanTheLegend Před 3 lety +8

      @@marcioluis3829 well many investment projects over the decades never truly helped out the indigenous populations. Their governments took loans from the IMF or World Bank with extortionate interest rates and then contracted western corporations to construct infrastructure. Seems good on the surface until you realise the government cannot pay back their debts and that the ordinary people still live in poverty. To settle debts, governments sell their national assets and/or privatise industries for western companies to purchase and profit from. The Chinese have adopted this strategy in more recent years. I'm worried we'll see more of the same problem with Akon City.
      Look up John Perkins, his job in the 70s was to persuade/force/coerce governments into taking loans from the IMF and to invest the money into western companies. His book is The Confessions of an Economic Hitman. An eye opening read.
      In the context of Akon City, no ordinary Senegal citizen will be able to afford the extremely high cost of accommodation. Perhaps opportunities will be made for Senegal citizens to work as labourers and construction workers but I am concerned about whether they'll be treated fairly. The construction of Dubai was almost done entirely by the hands of cheap labour borderlining modern slavery of Bengalis, Indians, Filipinos, etc. I'd be very disappointed if we see more of the same thing with Senegal.
      Additionally, let's discuss the economic implications of Akon City. What is Akon City's economy based on? What are they producing? What is their source of income? There is so much spending involved in the creation of the city alone. How can they sustainably increase their GDP when it will take around 2 generations for the Senegal population to become educated enough to fill high paying roles (assuming Americans haven't filled it out already.) Their economy revolves around the cryptocurrency Akoin. But as we know, decentralised fiat currencies have no intrinsic value except for what we artificially perceive their value to be which can lead to extreme fluctuations in the value of the currency, making it unstable.
      It seems the Senegal population won't gain much from this massive project but Americans may benefit. Which is unfair in my opinion because this is Africa, not America.
