Remember Justin Gaethje's UFC Takedown

  • UFC Lightweight Justin Gaethje is considered to be one of the most electrifying fighters in all of MMA because of his fight style. Although Gaethje has a decorated wrestling background, he choses to strike, relying on his boxing and powerful kicks. Some have wondered why he doesn't utilize his wrestling skill more in fights, but in interviews Gaethje has talked about how demanding wrestling is and how he has gravitated towards striking. This recipe has led him to an interim UFC Lightweight title in his career, but at UFC 286 Gaethje shocked many by securing his first takedown in the promotion en route to a victory. Gaethje was aware of the milestone and even joked about it during his postfight interview. #ufc #justingaethje #shorts

Bro wrestling is hard hard, like probably the most tired I ever have been in my life was wrestling and I was a boxer done many days sparring 8-10-12 rounds, 4 minute rounds also with 30 seconds off have double digit amateur fights which is way easier, I was a infantry Marine fought in Iraq twice did many long hard ruck marches, wrestling is so insanely draining dude. Much better to be upright throwing punches and kicks, easier to pace yourself. Wrestling might be the hardest sport in the world imo, if you are an NCAA champ, world medalist, hell even junior college national champ you are a monster. Hell high school State champs are no joke dude at least in PA where im from, not sure about other states

    • @ryanb8736

@@Mary-dc6js Exactly. I wrestled and boxed. Boxing was fun and easy. Wrestling was the hardest. I was champ in HS in 1999. Wrestling is an art. It takes the highest skill, determination, strength, movement, and stamina.
In every street fight I’ve gotten into, they always end up on the ground. I dominated every fight easy because of the skill I had on the ground.
Years later, I remember my coach asking me if I was still boxing, I said only on the ground. Ground and pound style.

I have no wrestling experience but was a very in shape athlete with a good gas tank (as far as basketball is concerned) and I wrestled one of my buddies who had just started wrestling that year. I was really happy because for the first 45 seconds I was doing good until I gassed lmao. I had never been more tired in my life then after those 3 mins. And I mean I could run suicides for and 400 repeats all day at that point I survived the round but went and puked and couldn’t mentally prepare myself for another round where he was ready to go again. There is something vastly different when talking about stamina and grappling stamina and until you really feel it you can’t really know. I learned a very humbling lesson that day.
