This song was supposed to be played as our first dance at our wedding in Sept. She passed away 1/28/21... She stood by me through a 4 year incarceration, never missed a visit or phone call. This song moves me. Jason Isbell's story of struggle with addiction and redemption in this song is amazing. It reminds me to continue to stay sober for those I love. Morgan does a great cover. I am grateful for this art.
It’s funny because in “the rooms” they insist you can’t stay clean for other people. The only reason I’ve been off the junk for 5 years is because of the absolute exhaustion of hurting everyone you love. It’s all for them.

Funny you say that about Jason struggle with addiction and his redemption yet he is was being super critical of morgan for the video that came out about him last yr. Really sad that Jason had his own struggles and knows what it's like to struggle thru something and instead of reaching out to offer support, he puts out comments that were pretty much kicking morgan down even more during his own struggle. Just really sad to me. I think morgan did everything right by owning what he said, apologizing and trying to move forward. We, his fans, know his talent and that is what matters to us. At the end of the day, it's his music that ppl enjoy.

True - I kinda wonder if the original artist ( who undoubtedly did a super job ) both of the song and his own sobriety thought Morgan did too good a job 🤔. Perhaps a touch of green eyed sour grapes ? Substances lead to silly and embarrassing behaviour and in my eyes Morgan manned up, we've all done regrettable things, that's called life.
