ABS Low Rider is $819 option. ABS on Chief is $900 option. If you move up to the Chief Dark Horse ABS included in that model. Dark Horse in Black is $17,499 with ABS with all the Tech vs. $17,530 for Vivid Black Low Rider S without ABS..

I'm glad someone did a Chief Dark Horse Low Rider S video in depth. I lost my bike (HD 883) during IDA. After getting my life back together I had a choice and it was between the Low Rider S and the Chief Dark Horse. I picked the Chief. I like the technology and the cheaper price point. I was on the fence with availability of after market parts, but there is a lot of people buying Chief's right now and putting in orders to be made. The after market companies are going to start making parts soon because it is going to be way more profitable with more Indians on the road. At least that is what I am betting on.

Awesome!! Thanks for doing this one. I am in exactly that predicament: LRs or Chief. Chief was winning, until this new 2022 LRS. What swung me back: the upgraded suspension which will be better for a pillion, and that Harley relocated the gauges from the tank to a more ergonomic position.
One thing you missed: the mirrors. They are useless on the LRS. Indian has better and more useable mirrors on the Chief.
So hard to decide. I’d actually be stoked with either of these bikes. 😎

A comparison between the low rider s and chief is not really a fair comparison, next to a street bob it stacks up and makes for a really difficult choice with the chief maybe edging out the win but with the lowrider s is just another step up in every way. Personally though I just wish they would drop that 117 in a fat bob with some decent tank graphics.

The different modes on the Indian and their digital speedo ...couldn't care less about. I like analog clocks. I do care that the Indian engine is a pure air cooled engine without an ugly ass oil cooling radiator...I hate rads on bikes...rads are for cars...that said Harley does a good job of keeping their oil cooler low profile. The Harley mono shock and inverted forks are way better suspension design than the Indian. Indian should have made theirs a mono shock with a mininum of 3 1/2 inch travel, it's a kidney buster with those short dual shocks which means I'd pick the Low Rider just on superior ride alone. The Indian's almost gooseneck frame is cool though.

This is a very comprehensive video. Very well done. As an Indian Roadmaster owner. I can see features of each bike that are hard to pass up. For example, the suspension on the HD is a bit better. But the Indian has ride modes. I like the front wheel on the Indian. It’s more visible. As a cruiser, it would be tough to value the dual front disc of the HD unless you’re racing. But it does have a bit more braking power overall. Compared to the Indian. Yet, the HD has a bikini fairing. I’m a tech junkie. So the Indian has cruise control and the RIDE COMMAND touch screen speedometer cluster. Again, a well done video.

But when it comes to these bigger cruisers I gotta give it to Harley-Davidson, I would take a LRS or Street Bob over any of the Chiefs. But I do like the tech they integrated into the Chief Dark Horse, I'd like to see that in more cruisers.

    • @LARGO125
      @LARGO125 Před 2 lety

What the sport mode does is similar to the old days when we put short throw throttle tubes on our bikes. It goes from 0-100% throttle much quicker. Then standard and rain mode lengthen the time it takes for full throttle to kick in, making it a lazier and more controllable throttle progression.

You should have commented the Chief Dark Horse Bobber model instead of the chief dark horse model because aesthetically it is a thousand times fatter and more complete than the one you show.
Here in Europe things are different and the low rider is more expensive than the Chief Bobber 3200 dollars and 5000 dollars expensive than the Chief model you showed!!! Yes 5000$.
I have a Harley and i was looking to buy a bigger one,
I was deciding between the low rider and the Chief dark bobber but :
1-How excessive the Low rider costs (overpriced only for the look and the inverted fork...)
2- The disappointment that Harley has caused me these years as a brand with its decaffeinated and sports models for millennials
3- The arrogant and unconcerned service of Harlry dealers in my country where they don't care about selling or not and they don't make you feel comfortable or special for buying a luxury product like these motorcycles
On the other hand, Indian gave me another feeling and not only to punish Harley I finally decided on Indian but because my new second motorcycle (Indian Dark horse Bobber motorcycle) costs every penny I have spent on it( it´s beatyfull and the perfomance is awesome) and
I don't feel cheated just by paying JUST for a look or a brand, not anymore.
PD: I love my Harley and I don't regret having bought it 10 years ago, it's a tough motorcycle with personality. I made a good purchase but currently it didn't make up for me to buy another Harley. Not with these prices or models.

I’d choose low rider s as well. I feel like the Indian is a better comparison for the street bob..
