- Aussie comedian Nikki Osbourne has lashed out at her son’s school after it wrote a demand saying he needs a haircut, with just a seven-day deadline to take action. So, did she cave in? Nikki Osbourne joins us.

She is absolutely right. And gorgeous.
Thats bush barbie. Its not real
Show them a picture of Isaac Newton or Albert Einstein. Hair is just hair.
I went to a selective school in the 70s when long hair and Beatles moptops we're all the rage, yet school policy was short back and sides. We basically had to have a hair revolution to be allowed to wear long hair. And 50 years later, I can't believe we're still having the same debate.
Beatles moptops all the rage in the 1970s? Don't you mean Led Zeppelin?
@@lyndoncmp5751 No, The Beatles. See, there's this thing about popular stuff- it sort of lingers for a while. Notice the _"long hair and..."_ part? There's your Zeppelin/Sabbath hair.
When has the length of ones hair ever affected their IQ?? and how much time do these schools employees waste on measuring every students hair length?? Shouldn't they be teaching children instead of measuring their hair?? and then to have the nerve to actually deny children who want to learn an education, just because of a couple of cm's difference in their hair length!?
What a pointless and wasteful thing for a bunch of apparently educated adults to obsess over instead of doing, you know, their actual job..
Firstly I'd like to see where in law it states how long a child's hair can be. Or this is a laugh and walk away thing.
@@geoffroberts1126it’s not a law, it’s a private schools policy. If you lower standards you end up with American schools. You can say it’s just hair, but one standard at a time and soon you have none.
@@Freediver_72 Oh private school? Law unto themselves. Public schools encourage uniforms and such, but can't impose limits on things like hair length. From what I've seen, biggest issue with American schools is that they seem to be run by individual school boards who decide curriculum, what books the library's allowed to have and so on, instead of a uniform state or national curriculum. South Australian public schools are all run by the State - they have some local governance, but not where curriculum/books etc are concerned. It's set by the state and (largely) now by the National Curriculum, they're going for more uniformity. We just changed (couple of years ago) from a 7 years Primary school/5 years High school format to a 6 Primary/6 High like most other states have.
If were teaching our kids there are no rules no winners no losers don’t strive for excellence what we are really doing is condemning them to a pleasant school life and thereafter to being the subjects to others in thus world who were taught competition.
If not from australia certainly from the world. Those kids arent going to be leading they are going to be lead. Do you think thats kind?
It seems to affect IQ on certain people, the shorter the hair, the more right wing and lower IQ they seem to have.
70s Catholic High school hair inspection every week. If your hair touched your collar, stay home until it doesn't 😂
💯 % 👍🏼👌 👋👋👋👋👋
In high school my hair was halfway down my back. I'm guessing they wouldn't have ever let me through the front door. \m/
and a pack of Marlboro reds in the shirt sleeve @@N1RKW
I went to a Catholic High School in the seventies too, but at my school I don't remember hair length ever being an issue. This was 76 to 79 so maybe it was different earlier in the decade. If you watch the movie Dazed and Confused, that's pretty much what the people I went to school with looked like, how they talked and how they behaved.
Problem is , no one watches the project
Flinders Christian College threatened to suspend my son for having hair touching his collar. Meanwhile, another student gave him a black eye and that student was given lunchtime detention. These private schools have it all wrong.
He came from a rich or connected family, no doubt.
We need to abolish private schools and implement the Nordic system.
Sounds like your son is a troublemaker
@@darkhorseman8263 politics of envy
@@theysprey7777 sounds like mum knows and that’s why the sent him there in the first place
@@poinky8 The Nordic model produces the best educational and student psychological health outcomes in the world, without creating a Psychopathic / Narcissistic caste system.
Politics of envy? Nice sock puppet propaganda. Copy and Paste response of the Dark Triad, because there is nothing you can actually say to defend your system.
Justice is coming, and it might come in the form of a cure. Science is at the point we can identify and cure you all.
If you take a look at my high school yearbooks from 1975-1977, you’ll see guys with longer hair than that. I find it odd that people are getting less tolerant as time goes on, rather than becoming more accepting of differences.
And the people in the yearbook are in-charge now.
Great Niki on your side 😎
She touched on why my kids go to public school. In life you need to deal with all kinds of people, relating to and understanding their POV in a whole range of issues, both socially and in a workplace. I have always told them you get out what you put in, and they are both aiming for 85+ ATAR in the next 2 years because they work hard. Dont buy your way through life folks.
When I was in high school, the vice principal told me to cut my hair too. Mom wrote a note explaining that I always kept it clean and to back off. Not sure if my father being a former congressman played any part of not, but I got to keep my hair. That was 1967... hippies, anti-Vietnam war protests, Joan Baez, etc. Basically, the, what would now be called the "woke" crowd, had superseded the football players in popularity. Mine was a lot longer than that kid's.
Good on you Nikki Osbourne!
Just say he identifies with someone with longer hair.
"Leave me alone, mom, leave me alone!". Brilliant.
I feel for him. Same happened to me only my hair was in the middle of my back.
Just tell them that my son now identifies as a girl!
It used to be like that at my school. Mind you that was back in the 60’s at a grammar school, in the U.K. and they were always pretty strict on such regulations.
Mind you when those of my mates went to uni, they all got their revenge when it came to returning to collect their prizes at speech day.
This is a regression to my days of the 60s when I was likened to Jesus b/c my hair touched my ears! I thought we had progressed to a point where the Beatles hairdos were the NORM, not an aberration. We have come full circle!
Our local Cathlic school allows anything so long as it's well kept. Dreadlocks? No problem. And the kids are polite and well behaved.
Weird… this happened to me at my school in America back in the 70s
Schools responsibility is other side of scalp. If they must enforce standards than issue school sized bowl with acceptance letter and scissors they can run with.
Wonderful Mum
This issue became obsolete over 50 years ago. That's how long it's been since I cut mine.
Harper Valley 😊
The school has a lot of nerve writing a letter to Nikki Osbourne. Don't they know who she is.
Who is she?
Two things stand out about this:
1) Why the hell does the school think they can pick his haircut?
2) Seven days is plenty of time: barbers are walk -in, no appointments needed.
😂😂😂😂😂 they must have done it as a publicity stunt and to get loads of laughs 😃
Just looked at the schools website and there's a photo of a male pupil with shoulder length hair.. 😆
The news guy with the glasses looks like Geraldo Rivera's half-brother.
Sweet lady.
It's a private school
Same thing happened at my school in the late 1960s. So the kid got his hair cut.
Same happened at my school.Deputy headmaster ended up decked after trying to physically remove a first fifteen front row forward from a school dance.
Whats it got to do with the school
Oh man Bush Barbie is pissed!
I haven't checked her older videos, but I wonder if she made one where she somehow brought this problem a moment.
Tell em their dreamin😊🇦🇺
Why not just tell the school that he identifies as a she? They would not take the matter any further.
Private school rules.
I love nikky 😊 shes so funny ❤❤❤
She's right tho.... what about all the kids with big ears?
How can this be happening in 2024?
That hair style was awesome - criminal to cut it
Is this Bush Barbie that’s always talking about the dingers?
Nikki Osborne is the funniest Australian since Crocodile Dundee and Steve The Crocodile Hunter dude.
Take a moment, in the moment to put on a Moment dinger on your donger mate.
At the moment.
Most funny karen to speak to the manager
Free the kids...
Schools are places of learning. Treating students as walking advertising for the school is completely counter-productive. Schools should be fined for making these unreasonable demands on how students dress, haircuts included.
From grade 7 - 10 hair down to the middle of my back and if someone touched my hair well I can’t say what would happen.
Military Hair cut sounds like to me huh? Somebody wants to be General Of the Schools!
You chose the school.
Does his school think it's the 1950s?
What aouut the girls ... their hair !!??
Good. We need to bring standards back to schools.
no one will tell me to cut my hair or my kids hair
When the brown brothers wore off? As I'm not well versed in Aussie slang, I really wanna know what she meant by that.
Versicco? A hurried Google has yet to enlighten me.
It would be interesting to see the haircuts of the principal and others on the staff. What sort of role models do they make? Any balding old farts?
And colourful artwork
Listen it could be worse they could of asked him to wear a dress. In gym class. Hahahahahaha
Nicki send your boy to school in a shirt without a collar
If I was paying for school, my kid can wear his hair any way he wants or you don't get anymore money.
We don't need soldiers, we need creative people, can't believe how little progress we've made in 60 years.
Is she The Outback Barbie?
Tell school f...off... Hair doesnt affect learning.
It's not a big deal. Hair grows out. Just get it cut and follow the simple rules. It's like when the lady say's wear a Moment or no access to the bush or the outback. It's the rules. Simple.
Do what they and wait for the next directive they deem necessary .NO !
Robyn can sure wear a dress!
Why can’t boys have long hair? I went to school in the 1970s and we had long hair. Only the one year I lived in the south were boys required to have short hair. That didn’t seem very freedom of expression to me.
It is fairly simple abide by the schools rules or do not.
Please the vice principal at st Patricks Sutherland marched me to a barber.. and made me cut it there on the spot....
His hair is not long if it's down to his knees it be a different story
If it's part of the schools belief that your son looks like a scruff. And needs a haircut. Get a haircut.
Next they will be protesting that one bath a week is to much.
Private school... read your contract, silly person
So just send him to private school if you don't like the rules
Does the school think it’s in Texas?
Texas private school maybe, not public school.
Leave the kid alone. He looks just himself.
Is Australia in another era than the rest of the world? Look respectable? What the heck does hair length have to to do with their education? Is it still 1950 there? Sad she caved.
how about school focus on education and not on 50s dress code
Show them any Girl in the School with long hair and then have them Explain why Girls can have it long?
Might be a boys school.
@@lewisgreen6722 Is it a Nazi Concentration Camp? What does the Length of hair have to do with Learning or your place in Society? I am a Veteran of the US Military, I have long Hair. Way longer than his, I make over $150,000 A Year and care less what people think. Basically It is None of their Business how long his hair is nor what his Religion is. You do not have to conform to any such "Standard" Doesn't matter what it is.
Hair will grow back, cut it for now to show respect, something our kids do not get today,
Their school, their rules. You would have been informed of all the rules before you signed up. You have the option to go to another school.
Pick on a hair style but let kids identify as a furry. Really
Good on you Nicky
doesnt look that bad --------------- in seventies in UK my school banned pony tails for boys ---- but not girls ...... traumatised me for life .... /// have a skinhead now .... brackets going bald ...... doh
A dress code is a dress code, and she knew full well going in what that dress code was, can't decide after the fact that you're not going to follow the dress code...
Next time, pick a more liberal public school, they don't care much about anything, including education...
Thier full of it
If you go to private school, you can afford a private hairdresser or buy a set of clippers and DIY.
It is a private school, remind them who's paying the bills.
Most private schools are NOT funded by tuitions. In general, private schools are funded by one or two wealthy individuals. The tuition is the price you pay to have your children be able to play with the really rich kids.
The government, then, given how much funding the get from that source.
Get a burr cut and shave in a protest slogan?
Tell them he identifies as a girl…and the letter did not contain his preferred pronoun
thats a JOKE...but she should get it ..
I left school after 2nd year in high-school, to get away from dopey teachers and all their silly rules. Best decision I ever made. Teachers said I shouldn't leave and will never achieve anything in life. But when a couple of my school friends finally left school after 5 years in high and got a job, they found me there, experienced, in charge of the workshop, and earning lots more money than they.
Do you know how school teachers and members of parliament are kin? They both think they can improve society and solve all problems by continually making up new laws. The real world doesn't work that way.
NOTHING wrong with enforcing a clean haircut for males....it teaches pride, organization and proper dress etiquette. It's the same reason why they do it in the military. And if you don't like it then move your kid to another private school but I think it's great that the private schools are enforcing this, it maintains quality participants for those enrolled so EVERYONE can have a better experience!
It is wrong
If the kid is in a 'PRIVATE' school and the rules are written AND you have agreed to them. Then SHUT IT❗️⬅️ AND I'M NOT JOKING.
what, you can be a cat or a dog but not a boy with long hair...
Its a private school, though. A private school has the freedom to set their own rules. She has the freedom to disenroll her son or work within that system for change. (Or, evidently, use the whole thing as a giant publicity stunt.)
First world problems.
They make you have a hair cut but allow you to identify yourself as a cat/dog/trans and all that bollox.
Get a hair cut and get a real job?
rubbish.
He doesn't need to go to your hairdresser. Barber will do. Them's the rules. If you don't like it send him elsewhere. Nothing special about you or your kid.
The edge that most private schools have over public schools is discipline. Having conservative hair cuts is part of this in a lot of cases. If mum didn’t like this she can just send him to public school where they don’t care about appearance and often about educational outcomes
It's truly a "butt-hurt" world anymore, isn't it! Nikki, we love you! Maybe if he wore a trump wig ... 🤔 lol. Jk!❤
Private schools have rules, you cannot expect to come to school with messy hair and a dirty uniform. You are representing your school, this will apply in the future as well. I got educated in a private school and I loved it. They were rules, all boys and girls had to have uniform cleaned, boys had to have a standard haircut, girls hair had to be neatly tied. If you don't want to follow the rules, enrol your son in a government school. So stop complaining, you are nothing.
You know the rules! If you don’t like it, change schools!
It’s a Private School with a Dress Code that she agreed too before he enrolled. This is why she caved. The school should expel her son over the fact she went on national television to mock them.
I feel dumber for watching this!
She is an embarrassment for her son
You are an embarrassment to humankind
