This is the leadership GRMS users needed. I've been trying to figure out how to organize RV'ers to use a standard GMRS/FRS channel for road travel for some time. I full-time RV and we're always on the road. I've wanted a way to communicate with other RV'ers or folks in traffic during our travels for a long time. I'm going to implement this as a standard around my circle of fellow RV'ers and ask my RV YT friends to spread the word.

We must be back in the old days. I drive an an 18 wheeler and we still use channel 19 to inform, argue, complain, and share road conditions.

I like it. 18 Wheeler with a spare tire = 19. I was going to second this motion but since it's a decree, there's no need to. Signed JKSD (No that's not a HAM call sign, I just have more initials in my name than most folks.

I never thought that it wasn’t 19…just makes sense to me coming from CB.

Back in the days when everyone had a CB in their car, the truckers used channel 19 east of the Mississippi River, and some truckers actually used a different channel west of the river. I think that eventually changed, and the truckers just said the hell with it, and everybody started using 19 for travel info, etc.

My CB days go way back to 1975 in Texas and everyone was on channel 19. Last time I checked a map, Texas was West of the Mississippi River. (not to be confused with Judge Roy Bean who was 'the law west of the pecos') I was 14 years old and my trucker uncle brought me a Cobra 29 which is a 23 channel CB radio.

Get a cb for road-trips, gmrs for off-road, all the truckers still using cb, fun to listen too

Since I have ventured into GMRS radio after most of my radio life involving CB, I have often thought that a GMRS community channel will be needed when most people eventually gravitate to GMRS so I naturally agree with using GMRS 19 as the travel channel.
Also, I have used CB channel 16 for my off-road communications in the past because of the obvious 4X4 but I thought I had invented that!
It must be true that great minds do think alike.
