That’s pretty awesome. I’m trying to get mine organized. I love your set up. You’re able to just look around at them as you build. My wife is finally accepting my model buying. And she’s going to let me build some shelves in the bedroom so I can display and interchange them.

I'm primarily an annual kit collector. The current collection is at about 2,550 items (which includes a lot of promos). I've often toyed with the idea of sorting like you do -- all the Chevies together, and within Chevies, all the Camaros together, etc. I like to compare models from one year to another so an arrangement like that would make a lot of sense. But instead I sort my kits by model company -- AMT, MPC, Jo-han, etc. -- and within those sections, the kits are sorted chronologically by year of release. One thing this does is keeps same-sized boxes together, which stack more neatly and with more stability. One nice thing is the visual impact of, say, all the MPC 1972 annual kits in one place. Really grabs the eye, I think.

Awesome kits..
Awesome stash! I use a few large computer boxes and some computer paper boxes. These have labels showing what's in the box. Then I have some shoe boxes for all my parts and kit bash pieces, they are labeled too. In my shoe boxes I have all my parts in individual 3"X4" bags (also labeled) according to kit or take off parts. Plus my shoe boxes are divided per engines, tires, and etc. Some have projects or triples if kits that I have.
Alot of my kit boxes have two kits in each, Ford with Ford, Chevy with Chevy, and etc,,, .
One thing I am careful with is keeping any pressure of a kit,,, especially the bodies. That way they don't warp or get tweeked.
So nothing is packed super tight in their boxes, I let the kit box take the weight. I had a couple kits get tweeked bad and learned my lesson, especially on a 1/12 Tamiya kit (not cheap).
Massive stash! I love it. You're kind of motivating me to add more to mine.
I see some kits I used to have but don't anymore but would like to get again, if they ever reissue them. Looks kinda like my collection, a big old mess. An idea for another video, where/how do you display your built models??
Felix was having none of that ! LOL ! It would seem that my clothes are also in my hobby room ...... my lovely wife has a dresser with it's own zipcode in our bedroom so my dresser is in the hobby room ..... that's ok though....I don't like conventional living anyway ! 🍻
From what i could gather i counted approximately 530 kits. Very impressive.

Was there TWO Alan Kulwicki NASCAR kits? I have the Monogram Zerex kit because I was a huge Kulwicki fan back in the day.
The closet is a smaller disaster like you had in the hobby room in the old house when you started CZcams.

Do you have an additional insurance policy for your collection?
Actually. I have discussed it with my insurance agent. And it is in my home owners insurance and also my Guitar collection is included. I did look into doing individual insurance. But found that is was not needed.
