When diluting something 10-fold (for example, if we want dilute something that is 1 M to get something that is 0.1 M), we add 1 part of the substance we want to dilute to 9 parts water. In this example, we added 100uL of blue dye to 900uL water to make the blue dye 10x more dilute. Does that help?

why did you not take out the same Volume of solution/solvent from your first ml?? (Molarity step)
