Bugatti and Koenigsegg are two hypercar manufacturers with a storied history. The top speed clash of the Veryon and the CCXR is only matched by the Agera RS and the Chiron Super Sport. From the Nurburgring, to Spa Francorchamps, to the Nardo ring, to the Autobahn, the Volkswagen owned Bugattis and Sweedish Koenigseggs are still competing.
Versus put two automotive giants toe to toe and Joey Rassool tallies up points to see who is the victor. Anything from heritage, performance, and even availability are taken into consideration.

Air-headed Aviator don’t see why it matters. The people who care about exclusivity and can actually afford these type of cars absolutely know about the brand. Hence why they will buy them (if they have a chance to) over Bugatti 100x over, because of their exclusivity / investment factor.

The Bugatti didn't break it's own record. At the time of the Super Sports' run, the record was held by the SSC Ultimate Areo at 256 mph.
Also Koenigsegg has been the holder of several acceleration records that it's been beating with nearly every car they bring out.

True. But tbh I hate the ssc. Don't know why. Probably bias against it as an American company even though I'm American myself. But I also Haye the venom. I have to blame koenigsegg. That car when I first saw it was so different looking compared to other hyper cars. Where as the SSC looks way to much like other car company's. And the vemon. . . I'm good. Not a fan of a porsche meets a lotus meets a Pagani. I rather just look at a Pagani or lotus by themselves. I know dumb opion. And dumb reason. But I have no idea why I dislike those cars. Then the whole SSC issues in 2020 kinda sealed it.
One thing you missed for Koenigsegg on the future round... Christian has been working on Freevalve technology which eliminates the need for camshafts to operate the valves. This tech is used in the Gemeras 3 cylinder engine. Because of freevalve, Koenigsegg has the fastest reving production engine ever made. I believe he said it can rev up to over 13,000rpms, but I would have to find the video again. Not saying the engine can reach 13,000rpms but how fast the engine can get to the rev limiter in seconds. Just insane.
yeah it redlines in .3 seconds which in insane but thats not even the most impressive part of it, its a 3 CYLINDER, 2L that makes 600hp, 300hp per litre is absolutely unheard of, bugattis 8 litre 16 cylinder with 4 turbos and 8 radiators makes about 190hp/litre. and a lamborghini aventador svj, makes just under 120 hp/litre,

To start things off, yes, I own a Volkswagen. However, I love all car culture.
Bugattis are cool and all, and I respect their contribution to the automotive industry. But, it is hard to deny Christian von Koenigsegg and his team's determination despite not having so called "pedigree". Furthermore, the founder, himself, came from a working class family and started building his first go kart at age 5. The competition between these 2 companies is unfair. You are comparing one company, founded when automobiles were relatively still new by a man who came from a wealthy family and is currently funded by the world's leading automotive corporation, to a company who was practically founded in a shed by a man who had almost nothing and is currently fighting against the rules and regulations set forth by today's society.
Also, you made an error in your video. When the Stig lapped the Top Gear Test Track in 2008, you failed to mention that the Koenisegg had no form of aerodynamics to help slow the car down under heavy braking. Furthermore, this crash happened during a reattempt after the car beat Bugatti's record at the same track driven by the same driver under the same conditions. As a result of this crash, a rear carbon fiber wing was made standard for saftey reasons which actually increased performance slightly.
Just stating facts here man.
Also, I forgot to mention that when Koenisegg did their most recent world record run. It was in Nevada on an uneven public road. The fact that it achieved that on such a surface is astounding.
Yeah, I was disgusted at the fact that he missed a lot of things about Koenigsegg like the fact that not only what you already stated about the Top Gear incident, but the fact that the Stig pushed the car too hard in the bad track conditions. Soo many things I wished were mentioned and judged more fairly upon.

There are even unofficial "records" made by Koenigsegg that are higher than the official records aswell. Back when Bugatti Veyron had the record, i think it was 401km/h or something and Koenigsegg's previous record where 388km/h, Christian von Koenigsegg Spoke in a interview that costumers hade gone way beyond 400km/h with their cars... On a regular road....
The Bugatti speed record was done with a modified Bugatti too. It had modified rear body panels. And any way there was a brief period that the Shelby untiamate aero had the record. And so did the Hennessy Venom GT.

The scoring was unfair. Koenigsegg totally gets a 5 in the future category. It is extremely unfair to not talk about the extraordinary technology and engineering that Koenigsegg develops. And in the Attainability category koenigsegg should have won because they are more rare and you cant hold the fact that they are newer company against them

The “future” was sooo biased, Koenigsegg really deserved MORE than 5 points, they definitely lead in technology. The Regera's Direct Drive transmission which was invented by Christian Koenigsegg himself is just an exemple.

The pedigree category seems weird considering modern Bugatti is not the same company. Bugatti went bankrupt and collapsed in the 60s and the name was bought decades later. Just like in professional sports, the titles and records don’t follow the name, they follow the franchise. Modern day Bugatti shouldn’t receive any credit for a “long heritage” because they only go back to the 1980’s

What the scoring should have actually been:
Top speed
Bugatti and Koenigsegg 5.- Both are top companies in this aspect both historically and presently.
Attainability
Bugatti 4 Koenigsegg 5- Bugattis are too common, which can caused value to drop. Koenigseggs are sought after like crazy and have gained millions in value as a result.
Track performance
Bugatti 3 Koenigsegg 4- Bugatti haven't really made all out track cars like Koenigsegg and their cars are too heavy to be racing beasts. Koenigsegg have made incredible track beasts such as the One:1 and CCGT (Jesko will be an absolute beast but has not raced yet so can't really be taken into account) but due to multiple unfortunate circumstances and a long history with track and race organisers, they have not been able to show what these cars are capable of hence the 4.
Pedigree
Bugatti 4/5 Koenigsegg 3/4- Bugatti is an old company and well known. If you ask a non-car guy what the fastest car is and they'll tell you a Bugatti Veyron. Koenigsegg despite being a lot newer than Bugatti, does have an interesting history, such as the reason why all their cars have a ghost on them, and the story behind their badge. They are also well respected by everyone who knows about them.
The future
Bugatti 2/3 Koenigsegg 5- Koenigsegg have a bright future ahead of them, producing wacky cars and showing that they are well capable of producing hybrids such as the Regera and the Gemera, they have also created multiple new technologies including Aircore wheels, Freevalve, redesigning the gearbox TWICE, and many more (a more complete list is on their website). Bugatti on the other hand, are stuck selling the same car over and over with a new body or slightly reduced weight. Plus their W16 will not be relevant in a couple of years and they have so far not shown any ability to adapt to renewable energy sources/ hybrid power which will undoubtedly dictate the car market in the next decades.
Total score:
Bugatti 18-20
Koenigsegg 22-23.

Agreed. Bugatti hasn't really changed much at all. New styling is basically it. Koenigsegg is constantly changing everything about their cars, from styling, transmissions, engines, wheels, aerodynamics, you name it.

I think some additional categories could have been considered, like tech/innovation and luxury/comfort. I'd easily see Koenigsegg taking the top spot in the former, with developments in transmission technology for example. I'd even say that their development is significant outside the hypercar realm, since it's not unthinkable to see some of their tech in much more accessible vehicles in the future. Bugatti in turn is basically all about "more is better", which I do not see as very innovative. In turn, at least according to reviewers like Doug DeMuro or Shmee, Bugatti would pull ahead in luxury.
Bugatti is definitely more luxurious. But I don't get why people think that Bugatti just pushes for 'MORE'. Do you really think that giving a car more horsepower is enough to make top speed runs that are comparable to Koenigsegg's speeds? There are plenty of hyper cars that have more than a thousand horsepower but they still can't beat a Bugatti despite being lighter while having a similar horsepower. I really think people underestimate the Bugatti's engineering aspect. It's not easy to make world records with a luxurious tank.
i like that the veyron did a 7:40. that means with the little mods i have done to my elantra, it is faster at the nurburgring then a 1000 hp buggati

When people are only bitching and complaining in no constructive way it’s hard to do anything but write them off as haters. They should be close like within 20% score in my opinion in favor of Koenigsegg. I do get what you mean it’s kind of disappointing to always be a close win. Christian literally sunk his life into this product. He set up the chess pieces. Picked out everyone he wanted on his team. He works on those cars with his team! He's a well likeable guy. Michael Blewer 1500 is the average output, the electric motors can overlap in the rev range, the maximum can be 1750hp with 2200Nm of torque, the 1500hp and 2000Nm figures are just the average power output.

That's heritage though. Bugatti has such a rich and interesting history, Koenigsegg hardly has any history. It makes sense under the category. Either way both companies are absolutely amazing

flixd konesegg has a 320 hp per litre on the Koenigsegg Jesko. The Bugatti Chiron has 190 hp per litre. The power density of the Chiron is horrible compared to a Koenigsegg. Not only that a smaller engine ways less. Koenigsegg is ultimately better.

Why do people invest so much feeling in a brand? You don’t own it, you don’t design or have any input in design , you don’t get paid or receive free cars from them. I don’t get it. It’s a personal OPINION, who cares what others opinions are. The older I get the more ridiculous brand loyalty looks to me. Sure I have brands I prefer for personal reasons but I definitely don’t feel compelled to argue over my personal choice in a brand that I choose to pay for when I could choose to pay for others. Unless you are the owner or design engineer of a car then ultimately you’re just a customer like everybody else .

It does. Did it in 2017 with an Agera RS and michelin tyres that Bugatti had earlier suggested would explode at such speeds.CvK even made a slight jab at Bugatti after the run saying the tires were fine. The 300+ doesn't count coz it did one direction and isnt a production car.

This was biased towards Buggati.
You could easily tell how he kept on supporting Buggati. He left out so many notable Koenigsegg achievements and focused on the less notable Buggati ones. Put up any koenigsseg vs buggati duel of a generation and the egg would win. The 0-400-0 chiron was 10secs slower than an Agera RS. He left out the Regera (Fastest 0-400-0) in the world and CCX as a whole and their records. Also he forgot Koenigsseg made the fastest and most advanced transmission in the world. He even supported the oneway run of the Chiron supersports which doesn't count.
