Inside The Episode: Night Family | Rick and Morty | adult swim - Krátké a kreslené filmy
We have to admit that Jerry did something clever in this episode
Definitely, jerry saved the family in this episode
@@TheNadroj10 Well honestly not really. The end of episode clearly says to us that night people "won" and the only thing that made day people go back was that night people just went "i don't wanna live anymore". So in the end the Jerry action while absolutely smart and good didn't matter at all
Typical gaslighting predators lying about Jerry. They exist in every comment section.
@@erwinmatys To be completely fair, it would have worked had all the "falling asleep and waking up back and forth" not happened during the climax, or had Rick just agreed to not be a filthy slob about the plates when offered a truce.
@@TheNadroj10 Yup. Jerry actually did something right for once.
Honestly what an incredible way to write Jerry, He is his own special as the "normal guy" in the family
He's an interesting character. I think a lot of people can relate to him because he wears his insecurities and weaknesses on his sleeve.
being normal as a main character in rick and morty is unique xD
@@bobbymudda that's why I love Jerry. We've all got a little of him in us
That's why he's my favorite.
Whats the name of the show?
Rick literally going to a forbidden planet and "using his credit" with a warrior that looks like it came straight from Warhammer 40K to just forge indestructible plates is in a whole another level of stubborness. I love it.
This is the same guy who made a vat of fake acid after all
@@xephyre6955 then created an elaborate scheme to force morty to use it again because he got butthurt that Morty thought it was a bad idea and wanted to be proved right
Meh, weakest part of the episode
@@kurtpunchesthings2411 Morty was right tho
The weakest part is you.
I love how the opening foreshadowed Rick’s subconscious subservience to Summer. She sighed and he let her and the family use the device. Then later her night person is in control.

other than the part where the night people won and eventually just gave up because somehow they could shutdown all of Rick's tech, but they couldn't do mundane tasks
@@InfernosReaper They had motivation to do those things, so they could have those sweet vacations
Pretty sure night Jerry forced Summer and Beth to headbutt in the final fight to turn them both into night people, so he lost it for the family
Me too. H e was so sweet and had a nice friendship with Jerry.
There were both "Us" and "Severance" vibes for this episode and I loved it.
Finally someone said it :) Should get more upvotes.
The funniest part of the episode for me was when Summer went night person and Morty told everyone to hide behind his abs
That got a good laugh out of me. So did "Having trouble with your car neighbor?"
@@ZombieAndroid Or when the neighbor is watering the plants and they run it over "Why even bother Jean" lmfao
Or when after all Summer speech Jerry says: "Its night summer!!" And Beth says: "Thanks Jerry😑"
I laughed when Rick punched himself out of the car after his fist deflected off of Morty's abs.
@@ProGamer-lk9qw lmao hell yeah
It was really fun to see Summer being the true Rick heir: maybe she isn't that smart, but she has a dark side that can even outmatch Rick's according to this episode.
The more the series goes on the more I agree with this. A lot of people think Morty is Rick’s “heir” so to speak, but he is too willful. He learns from Rick but he tries to not become him, because he actually wants to live, be happy and look for meaning. Summer however, as stated in the Voltron Mafia episode, has no one, she doesn’t have a Jerry or a Morty or a Rick, so she’s always willing to do the things to get the attention of her family because she has no one. It honestly makes me want to know who Diane was if Rick compares her with Summer.
I think this is a fair assessment because it further solidifies Morty as his own person and as the character that eventually "rises above"/Moves past Rick out of everyone in the family
I would say Summer is very smart lol not Rick level but I think people get fooled by her teenager interests and valley girl voice 😂
@@goodnewsgeek42 Yeah, I think people can confuse what I said with "not that smart". Summer is smart, but not "Rick level smart".
We can even see this power over Rick and the beggining of the episode. When Summer makes Rick angry by denying she wanted to use the sleep machine and just stares at her phone, Rick gives up and lets everyone use it. It really shows she does have a manipulative side, like Rick himself
I really liked the scene where they’re fighting each other and they keep knocking each other out and waking each other up. This season has been really good so far.
That cracked me up! The music restarting everytime a night person opened their eyes 😂
@@tiarastokes3897 right I had to keep rewatching and seeing what everyone is doing, jerry knocks himself out on his own twice
This episode revealing that Summer subconsciously resents Rick was not something that I picked up on. This episode revealed a lot more about her character then I realized
I AM THE BEEST YOUUTUBER YOU'RE ALL TRAASH COMPARED TO ME IM THE BEEST 😂
I feel like the episode probably should have done more with characterizing the Night Family and laying out how they relate to the family's subconscious feelings more. You can tell there was fertile ground to work from there, but I think they kind of lost the thread when they resolved everything in a protracted action sequence instead. I don't know, think it needed like one more scene for character work.
@@hermannlakehuntdream7678 I would tell you to screw off but that's what you want

Honestly, this episode gave me some serious Russian Sleep experiment vibes and I absolutely loved it. Plus, Jerry seems to be the MVP of this season right now, they just keep handing him wins left right and center
I was looking for a comment that would bring up this particular CreepyPasta story
I actually really like this episode, I love the more family-centric stories they’re telling this season. Not all episodes need to break new ground. It was this kind of comedy that made me fall in love with the show in the first place. At least this is heaps better than episode 2
id say its on par with season 2, though if i let nostalgia talk id say season 2 was better. it consistantly struck gold with its concepts and execution. so far this season is 4/4 good episodes so we'll see
Ya I think we can all agree that episode 2 is bottom of the barrel for the season so far. Completely carried by the sci fi concept and just gets worse after it’s explained
@@nathantremblay4529 after episode 2, we get less focus on morty, he become more submissive, maybe ep 2 will be adress in future ep. So far, after ep 2, the focus-centric on morty character become distant, now more on the family. Last ep is on Beth. This ep is on Summer.
Episode 2 wasn't even that bad.
@@nathantremblay4529 it's the worst of the season but so far thats only 4 episodes and none of them are straight up bad
Rick is always looking for Summers approval. But it's extremely subtle. Awesome writing.
Summer has definitely come in to her own as a character. She’s an evil genius and Rick definitely holds her in higher regard than the rest of the family! Can’t wait to see where her character goes in the future!
Same. I know they have Prime Rick and Evil Morty in this show, but imagine if they made an Evil Summer.
did you just copy this comment from another video?
I think Rick holds Beth in a higher regard than the others. Then Summer, then Morty and lastly Jerry. Himself before everyone else, obviously.
I think this is going to be a theme the entire season, with a lot more focus being on Summers character. Even in the first episode of the season, when Rick is talking to the Haunting Diane AI, he says that Summer reminds him of her
@@beke2672 I believe so
Summer transitioning to night summer out of nowhere after staying up all night has got to be one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while lmao
I really enjoyed another classic Rick and Morty moment with the family. My favorite part was seeing the two with abs of steel.

For me it was when they were knocking each other out and their day and nights were reemerging
This episode becomes sadder for Rick when you remember that Rick said that Summer reminds him of Diane
I love how Night Summers control of Rick was foreshadowed when Summer got Rick to initially allow them to use the Night People. There is a side of her that controls those around her and those features of he personality were exemplified when she became night Summer.
The episode finally showed Summer's potential, portraying her not only as equal to Rick, but also smarter, a better leader and even more menacing. Great for including more women in the writing room and creating more in-dept, realistic characters. Bravo.

I don't understand what you mean, please explain? (sorry, I'm being THAT moron).
@@peterdonnell3784 To catch a w or catch a dub is a slang term which means getting a win, meaning lots of good things are happening to Jerry this season like in this episode Jerry ends up saving the family
Love the horror aspect of this episode.
Also love that Night Summer basically outsmarted Rick
This is one more awesome episode from this season. The initial quote at the start of the episode was a perfect setup for the horror tone of the episode. What I find most hilarious is that you have managed to insert what I thought were the most cheerful scenes from the trailer into a horror episode.
This was definitely one of the more low key episodes, but it felt more like watching Season 1 or 2. Since it was more down to earth than previous episodes.
Very, very well said.
Just wish it was funnier, first 2 seasons were able to balance plot and humour flawlessly but now days it’s either one or the other
I don't know what you mean by down to earth? This was the weirdest Rick and Morty episode I ever seen. There was too much overemphasis on cartoony gags while the first two seasons were more absurd sci fi.
I just love how he wouldn't rinse the dishes too the end. It made me hate him, but it was hilarious.
That was such a unique episode, absolutely loved it.
At first I thought this was Jerry’s fault since the communication with Night counterparts opened this problem. However, as the episode went, it was the communication that saved them. Rick was at fault since he clearly refused to compromise.
This season has been really fun. This episode's concept and atmosphere is an example of why I love Rick and Morty: They take a weird concept and take it to the MAX.
The "I rule the night, now I will seize the day" line was also a callback to the Carpe diem mad max episode after Beth and Jerry divorced.
easily best episode of this season and overall definitely in the top ten somewhere. loved that the way the family "wins" is based on the logical conclusion of the base premise and I appreciate that they respected the concept enough to give it a thematic edge with the horror vibes. super solid just like my poo. great job
bruh, this is literally the worst episode of the season so far.

They say Night Summer represents her inner resentment of Rick, yet the episode doesn’t really go anywhere with it. It’s brought up once and then it’s never addressed again. It would’ve been better if there was any payoff to this revelation to how Summer feels about Rick.
Agreed, maybe summer venting about rick for real could have been how they won with night summer satisfied with how day summer finally went off on him
Give it time to breathe. Everyone resents Rick in one way or another.
And rick resent all of them
That’s with most writing/arcs in this show
Why would they need to go deep into it this episode. Have you never seen a show that makes an arc out of it.
Am I the only one blown away by that call back to season 1? that went right over my head the first time around. Great work!!
The Summer and Rick dynamic has always been different than Morty and Rick's dynamic, and I think this episode was a fantastic furtherance and exploration of that relationship, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing where else it goes from here.
Some of the sight gags (like the gasoline factory, to dynamite museum to Dry leaf storage Explosion) reminded of an early 2000s cartoon called Megas XLR.
Ahh i see you to are a person of Culture

Rick could have saved himself a lot of trouble if his simply created a dishwasher that didn't require you to wash your dishes before you wash your dishes.
Jerry did something useful again! (kinda) its nice to see him help out in his own way
This season is really good so far! Actually getting a bit scared by a Rick and Morty episode is a new feeling, but this episode achieved it!
I'm not sure how most people will feel about this episode, but it's easily one of my all time favorites
This and Bethic Twinstinct!
That was a nice episode. The season is doing great so far
I find it hilarious that this all started just because Rick wouldn't rinse his plates till the very end.
one fun detail i noticed was the little audio cue every time people transitioned into night people and back, and how they started making fun of that concept during the fight scene where the sound would go back and forth constantly
This season has been fantastic so far.
Definitely the best episode of the season thus far. I really like that they threw out all the stuff we "know" about the characters and created something very different - a shadow world of what we know about these characters.
This season has been a banger so far
Really fun episode, I love seeing the family get a chance to work together
This is a great episode I loved it TY
This is probably the best episode they've done in a while!
I'm so glad they had the restraint not to title this episode "What Ricks May Mort" or something.

I wish we (folks in the states) got the uncensored versions of these episodes outside of having to wait for the season to be over and buy it digitally or watch it on a streaming service.
Great season so far. Cant wait to see more episodes

Fantastic episode- clever, scary, funny, it had it all!! Well done to those who helped create it :)
Might be one of my favorite episodes tbh
This episode is an incredible metaphor for those of us with seemingly different identities at different times… like manic depressives I imagine and people who work like a robot part time and party hardy part time..
this season is on fire I didn't see that coming
The soundtrack for this season has been brilliant, I really hope they release it.
It feels like a really huge coincidence how this episode and apple tv+ severance came out the exact same year, especially when their concepts are so identical.
It's almost like they're lying about this being an old idea or something
@@InfernosReaper ideas are almost never rare. if you come up with something someone has already thought that already. so it's possible day came up with the same concept
@@theedwin not unreasonable to think that might be the case, until you account for them going out of their way to be like "we've been sitting on this idea since the early seasons"
Plus there's that whole them talking about "the dynamic of Summer resenting Rick in the episode" but it's barely a footnote in the episode.
To be honest, half the episode felt kinda like a first draft, which really doesn't help the claim that this was a well-planned episode.
@@InfernosReaper This episode was likely written, or at least outlined more than a year ago. There were reports that they were working on scripts for S6 and S7 in mid 2021.
@@InfernosReaper Yeah, that was really weird. I'm totally fine with them just making a short story based on the same concept... but them specifically pointing out this was an "old idea" felt disingenuous.
Jerry was the MVP in this episode 👏
i like that summer basically peer pressures him into giving them all night persons
It's interesting that they said they were going for a carpenter vibe because I definitely saw it more as an hommage to Us by Jordan Peele.
The music this ep was dope
Rick: Indestructible dishes no problem. Installing a dishwasher instead of making your grand daughter wash dishes by hand. Impossible.
Jerry is the only one that had integrity.
Summer and Rick had an inverse relationship. I thought Rick would be unyielding but then again, he's always buckled for his family. Moreso to his grandkids, especially when Summer just went to ignore Rick and he buckled and gave the entire family a night self.
Imo this is the best episode of Rick and Morty without a doubt! I was on edge the entire time watching it - it was just so clever. It hit every beat and I know I'm going to be thinking about it for the next few months at least

Love the way they used John Carpenter style music in this episode, had those 80's horror movie vibes going for it.
Indeed. The tone of the episode as well gave off very John Carpenter vibes too.
These episodes feel so basic and simple somehow, and a big step back from the epic sci-fi madness... yet, I really love them. It's nice to just take a step back and dive into some smaller stories for a change, thank you.
Great season so far!!!
Generally speaking, Summer whenever there's a partner or association with Rick, she's usually stuck with a side job or as a contingency plan of sorts while Rick and Morty stay as the primary duo. She's given these responsibilities not so much out of Rick knowing he can trust her with being what can save him and Morty in a jam, but more so that she stops bugging him about going on adventures with him. Sure she gets the "wolverine claws" and other gadgets to use as a sort of payment, but she's still getting sidelined cause frankly, her name isn't in the title. Its simple to say that she wants the same attention that Rick gives to his grandson and his daughter, but Summer's development has been inclined to being something that as we've seen with Night Summer, as a challenger to Rick's genius and authority because of being neglected and treating her as a benchwarmer.
I think my favorite moment was when they flew out of the car and then swapped from night to normal person during the fight. It was so crazy watching the fast switching
it's amazing how Rick is so stubborn that he is willing to risk his control over his body just bc he wants to prove a point 😅

Easily one of the best episodes of the season 👌
The bit where they do sit ups had me cracking up.
Uh I know it's very presumptuous to criticize the writers for not getting the characters they write for, but Rob does realize the Summer whose opinion means very little to Rick died and that Rick and this Summer have probably one of the closest connections in the family right? Like yeah Rick didn't care for Summer and didn't want her involved in adventures at all, but that changed after eps like "Raising Gazorpazorp" and "Something Ricked This Way Comes" and even "Ricksy Business" as he actually grew an appreciation for Summer, thus why she started coming along on adventures and even helping out being given protocols and tools to help out as Rick could actually trust her to have his back when needed. This was even spelled out in this season's opener "Solaricks" that Summer unlike Morty generally is also able to get things from Rick for helping out as the two have more of an understanding. Which you'd also think Rob would know as he wrote "A Rickconvienant Mort" aka the one where Rick and Summer go partying together and Summer helps Rick out of a "stupid relationship" he had gotten into due to his wild love of parties and losing himself in them. Hell even in THIS episode Rick only agrees to turn everyone into a Night Family when he sees Summer annoyance and attitude when he originally blocked the idea so... yeah Rick now does not have a low opinion of Summer. Honestly I thought Summer was the one in charge because this episode was homaging Us so she fit Lupita Nyongo's role as leader of the "other" in that film.
Another reason that j think creates create drama that isn't there
It is fraudulent to say that Rob Schrab wrote any of those episodes you refer to. He is not a writer at Rick and Morty, has never been, and if he is an actual person, will face legal charges of plagiarism.
Each episode of Rick and Morty is composed from the drawings, not the pen. I compose a story with plot lines to program artwork that needs a theme to bring things together. It is why the consistency should begin to make sense. It came out of one mind, the art and story.
It made sense to me as an artist, with a storage facility of drawings, to piece a plot together for my pictures, rather than write for other animators. That keeps my intellectual property in the same place, writing, voice actor parts, and artwork.
This method provided the best solution to bring the unique perspective into the main focus. I improvised a narrative for animation to be at the forefront.
Copying and pasting pseudo-writers into the credits, was not my idea. It is fraud. Rob Schrab sounds like a false name. Did his mother name him, Schwab?
@@zacharylacanam sorry to ask but, who are you?
@@whiteeye3453 I am inventor of Animation technology. That machine defines how each Rick and Morty is created. Other animated cartoons and digital media have made use of it. Several projects, including Solar Opposites, as well, are essential to the patent I hold. Writing and artwork for each episode are part of the same creative process.
It has been verified in France. Transcripts, a demonstration of how my animation is unique, audio and database of artwork are copyrighted. You have never heard of me for two reasons: I prefer to remain anonymous, and plagiarism cuts me out of the picture.
It is my regret to inform you that non-essential executives, writers, producers and ‘other’, are frauds, with an illegally acquired claim ownership.
Even the copyright, Roiland et Harmon, infringes by placing Justin and Dan before it. At least, one of them has the same last name, coincidental. The former should call himself Justin, Inc.
@@whiteeye3453 Yeah that's another good way to look at it. I get applying a lot of the drama and deeper character writing and exploring relationships in the last 3 episodes of this season but you know sometimes Rick and Morty is just about going along on a nutty adventure without a big attached point to it and just embracing the insanity. Like "Morty's Mind Blowers" even has Rick point out "no this episode doesn't have a point and it's stupid of you to think one" but the inside the episode stuff talked about that actually being the point of the episode... even when it actually said it wasn't.
This episode was fantastic
I love the carpenter theme! Enjoyed the episode !
I have several questions including how night Jerry ended up helping the family, how night Summer ended up foiling day Rick's plan even though that device had been activated, what the night family's plan was (it was either to turn everyone into night people or extend the area the night family could operate) & how the night family ended up taking over for months at the end as well as being active during the day

the fact that this episode came out shortly after the success of the first season of "Severance" is... interesting. They even have a scene where they share (rip) a quote from the show, saying: "Request denied!" or something like that.
