So far it's just been banger after banger. I think the last time it was like this was season 3 (for me).

Seeing it again, you really do understand why Night Summer is in charge. Rick sort of craves for her approval which is why he was asking Summer what was wrong. It sort of makes sense especially after Rick saying that Summer is a lot like his wife. And everyone else looks to Rick for approval, except Jerry, he's just him lol.
Idk exactly how much I agree with the Rick looking for Summer approval thing, but if it were to be the case it's possible it could be Rick needing approval from young fans to keep the R&M brand alive and well.

Rick also told the voice of Diane that their grand daughter reminded him of her this season. No one was around so I doubt he bothered to lie.

yeah it's basically the Meeseeks episode, except instead of Jerry causing all the problems, Jerry solves the problems (and it only doesn't work out because of Rick)
The dark atmosphere of the episode really sold it to me

I don’t think I ever seen Rick use a normal gun, so this is so unexpected.
He uses a gun in the first episode of season 2.
The thing in this episode is that JERRY did the best decision with his Night Jerry
These episodes with the family in their house and their own planet is amazing.
Watching it for the first time brought about strong John carpenter vibes and after watching the BTS after the episode, explaining the homage to Carpenter 80s horror style and how they used that as the foundation for this episode made it even more satisfying!
Loving this season and how they are creatively using bits and pieces from past episodes/ seasons and expanding on the story and characters.
But about the tribute to Mike Mendel. Theyve had that cartoon of mike and his dog for the past two seasons and you're just now noticing it? Ok, I can see that happening but you thought it was for the dog? Whuuuuuuut
Summer just became my favorite character 😂
Even though Night Family was a reference to Night Gallery which explains the soundtrack. I feel like it also had a reference to Us aswell, like with the female protagonist being the leader of it all and the way everyone was speaking being like her too
Also the plot twist when Summer turned out to be Night Summer in disguise, was pretty reminiscent of when Lupita Nyongo as the normal mother turned out to be the tethered in the end.
I felt some Us vibes in this episode too
What's funny is that the horn sounds that Beth made while they were mocking Jerry were from a trombone, not a trumpet.

Looks like Dew-Quil cocktail helped Summer gained a new ability, falling asleep with eyes open
I've fr met people who would go this far an further to avoid doing dishes. Also this season is on fucking fire, I was pretty mixed on the last one but this has been straight gold so far.

I'd definitely learn languages with a night person. And I like the idea of at least writing notes to one another.
*Edit:* To answer your question, I don't have a dishwasher, but I do soak my dishes first, so I've never had to worry about rinsing them.

The robots were an homage to the bad robot in Disney's Black Hole (one of them) and Dr. Who's Daleks.
Movie had a lot of possible references though the most recent one that comes to mind is Us.
When Rick went to that planet, I legit thought *"OH SHIT IT'S ABOUT TO GET REAL"* and then he just made plates 😭
I kinda wish you guys would’ve watched the inside the episode at the end.. Dan Harmon and the main writer of this episode pointed out the Rick and Summer dynamic and callbacks to season 1. But otherwise great reaction! This was my second favorite episode of this season so far.
This is very much a cursed monkey’s paw situation. If they made their “night selves” do simple and easily achievable things and not be dicks and take advantage of them then we would still have our gasoline factory, dynamite museum and dry leaf storages.😂
Also 2:02 please tell me I’m not the only one that finds this super hot? And makes me love Rana even more?

I like that Rick kept his car from his original universe instead of the one made from garage junk.
Another great episode of this season. I'm hoping to see in the future of how Summer's character will go. I call Night Summer Evil Summer. So I'm guessing this is the first time they had an Evil Summer in this show.
Who was the extra plate of pancakes for? Jerry had a plate and brought another one for the head of the table, and then it disappears later in the scene. Makes me wonder if there is mystery character we will find out 3 seasons from now that had always been there.
Could just be an animation error.
I like how Night Jerry introduced himself to Day Rick even though he and Day Rick already met.

Night Summer IS Rick's wife. Remember when the night family accosted him and made him eat the leftover food off the dish? Before that, Night Summer said "I have always been here, deep inside the mind of your grandchild, waiting to come out." So, Rick's wife, as Night Summer, probably always hated that Rick never rinsed his dishes, and she finally found an opening to force him.
Or it's the side of Summer that wants to be the top dog and is tired of doing the shit other people don't wanna do while being ridiculed for doing it wrong? Which is what Rick constantly has Summer do and constantly berates her for?
I prefer your idea though. Maybe that's why Morty's got a little bit of Rick in him? That just means Naruto's one fucked up giant incest space baby. I was cool with Naruto before but now it's going too far.
You guys should check out Amphibia and The Owl House. They are basically the new Gravity Falls.

Funny how everybody was thinking the gun was for the family. I guess guns are not that harmless
I think the having to rinse your dishes thing is either myth or outdated procedure perhaps pertaining to older low quality dishwashers or badly maintained dishwashers or something.
For the past 11 years the only things I don't put in the dishwasher have been non-stick pans. Everything goes in, I never rinse anything and everything comes out spotless always.
So yeah... night family needs to shut up. Surely with Rick there their dishwasher is better than mine.
They don't have a dishwasher. Their kitchen is a bunch of cabinets, a sink, and a fridge next to the stove. Rick doesn't do the dishes and therefore doesn't care about it. He also will go out of his way to not make any concessions for no other reason than ego. He might be intellectually a genius, but he's emotionally an idiot. It's a character flaw that's the cause of most of his problems.
