When you figure out the episode and remember THAT scene: 'Oh...'
really love how Rick lasered in on Jellybean as he stumbled out of the bathroom, and his eyes narrowed while he put 2 & 2 together... poor Morty, he just wanted to steer an adventure, awww... they really did a great job of conveying the emotion for that scene/ actually teared up when Morty was searching for the portal gun desperately wanting to go home
Bonus points for opening the portal again to shoot Jellybean for what he almost did.
The way Morty's mentality changed after that sexual assault on him is very well portrayed

Loved Rana's and Marketa's reaction in this as Rick and Morty isn't just supposed to make you laugh, but also shock you, appall you and and even make you feel sad. Glad to see this reaction ran the gamut of emotions.
Omg that bathroom scene was so disturbing. Poor Morty!!!

Rana was right. That sexual assault scene wasn't meant to be seen as funny. Shit was disturbing. First time I saw it I loved it as a hard turn. Made it seem as serious and scary as it is. Which if you're gonna go there, I expect it to.

You misunderstood my comment. It was a surreal moment that was funny that turned serious and uncomfortable pretty damn quick. I'm sure there are people who laughed at it without thinking anything of it but the intent was for it to be what I said it was.
Like you said, humor is subjective and as I said, I no doubt believe there are some people who laugh the whole way through.
fair enough. I just found the whole absurdity of it hilarious as well as the mental picture of a bunch of animators sitting in a room making a scene where a boy gets raped by a jelly bean.
I think I read that that absurdity was also their intent.
It was for sure disturbing, but having it intercut between that and the Meeseeks viciously killing each other also made it hard not to laugh at just how crazy this episode was.
For me the best part of this episode was always the woman going "what the fuck" as Jerry makes the shot using a tomatoe. She's so scared and confused at the same time

The fact that it came out of nowhere and had no warning, it can make people nervous laugh. And the ending where he got what he deserved makes for great payoff.

I just watched this again and the best part is watching Nahid kinda sulking while Rana's into it, and then "the bathroom scene" starts and you can see the break happen as Nahid starts to laugh and Rana just gets more and more horrified. SMILE!

It was interesting to see that the girls didn't find that rape scene funny whereas the guys did. Both Rana and Marketa seemed shocked and Rana even made a comment that it wasn't even funny.

I think there are two sides to this. #1 you have two different scenes cutting back and forth from each other, so there laughing completely caught me off guard- which I could find a understanding when I saw them with confused expressions while watching it.
#2 three of those people knew how to react to the bathroom scene. (Blue & white striped shirt- Green camouflaged shirt- Orange shirt) That shits not funny- *Noticed that the guy in a button down white shirt laughed loudly when Morty started to kick his ass, so that's a win*
