      Cheers mate! yeah its a good one. theres another on the 4th July but I cant make it. Have you ever compression tested yours? just wondering if 125psi is ok?

      @@RetroAndRusty it’s gutting when you get a date for a show you can’t make! 😂
      No never done mine actually! Was thinking of doing it actually but haven’t got any kit yet so won’t be for a few weeks or so I would think!

    I'm getting 95 lbs on my 73 Pinto 2.0 with 5 cranks, I'll go check again, it sounds like you're doing 9-10 cranks

    When doing compression test with a mechanical fuel pump do you have to clamp the fuel line? Or will be ok to just disconnect coil?

    • @RetroAndRusty
      @RetroAndRusty  Před rokem +1

      I did this a couple of times and took the fuel pipe from the Carb and put it in a Glass jar. If you do that keep an eye on it though as it will fill up quick. I'm not sure if clamping it would be a good idea as the fuel would have nowhere to go? It might damage something or blow the clamp off and go everywhere?

      @@RetroAndRusty i ended up just disconnecting the coil, the pump won't work unless the cars running. I did the compression test and the pressure isn't holding in any of the cylinders. Do you think its a faulty compression tester?

      @@ashikdossajee7533 sorry to hear your getting nothing. It’s probably worth trying another gauge and also I think oil down the cylinders helps seal the piston rings. Will your engine not fire at all? What happened or are the symptoms?

    • @ashikdossajee7533
      @ashikdossajee7533 Před rokem +1

      @@RetroAndRusty the engine fires up nicely and drives fine, the issue is I get blue smoke from the exhaust on hard acceleration, i think the rings are bad 😑. I guess I'll try another gauge i cant see why it wouldn't hold compression on all 4.

      @@ashikdossajee7533 it could be I’m not sure to be honest. It could be valve stem seals maybe? I get a bit of smoke form them sometimes if the car has sat around. I’d say check out a few more videos, try the oil method and make sure you do the test with the car warm as well. Hope you can get to the bottom of it soon.
