@@markpugh6808 3 and 8 are the only ones I thought were awful, and 9 is unwatchable. Judgement has great ideas, deader was a neat concept with mediocre execution, I love inferno and HELLSEEKER, and the world building/lore in bloodlines is fantastic.

Disney is known for putting out films as limited editions back in the 80s. They used to say , Get it now before it goes back into the Disney vault.

Indeed. I hate limited editions. One reason I haven't ordered it. I have the 8 disc set. Got it a couple months before this was announced. I'm missing out, but I'm not certain I care.
Agreed it really doesnt need to be limited this will undoubtedly sell really well. I hate seeing some movie I love having a stupid print run and now people are dueling for it on ebay.
Funnily enough these are still readily available almost a year later. Just picked me up a brand new box set off of Amazon for cheaper than they were at release.

I agree about limited releases from Shout. I am dying to own this set, but lost my job to Covid and cannot afford it at this moment. Hopefully I can scrounge together enough money before it's OOP. I love the boxart, but you're right it is very busy compared to Halloween.
I understand your angst as a collector, especially when it gets into the higher dollar range. I’m fortunate in this instance though as I have the “Crystal Lake to Manhattan” dvd set and I’ve watched the heck out of it, but as much as I wanted to I never pulled the trigger on any of the blu-rays. I snatched this up right away when the preorder started. You get grumpy at times for the same reason that you get very excited or manic at others, you’re very passionate and that is that draws others to you, especially the Patreon bunch. Never change Heath.
Now we wait for The Nightmare on Elm Street collection! Hopefully scream factory does it soon! I have a gut feeling they'll do "red" blu-ray cases on them! That'll be sick lol

I bought this set and am happy that I did.
I sold my collector's tin for $80 and just put the money towards the new set. Amazon Canada had it for $120 shipped so essentially, I paid $40 and felt that was worth it. The fact that the Halloween collection is OOP and worth a ton now and with how great Shout's packaging in, I just had to do it. I wouldn't have thought twice if it was UHD but it's hard to pay that much for regular Blu-rays. Especially when several of these have 4K scans. All of that said, it's a great set and the packaging is absolutely perfect if you like original artwork.

Man I did not buy it, but I do have the bones to pay for it...but I won’t.
I did not want to buy because the older blu were just fine with me. I didn’t need the 3D version or the uncut or the 4K restorations or the special features because I feel all that is going a little overboard with the set.
Considering the franchise has been talked about to death, plus these films are ok just being in HD(it traps the aura of a muddy VHS feel with a little more clarity).
Like you said, there will always be a new set ready to be purchased years from now with whatever gimmick or bells and whistles at hand.
It’s crazy that this series is a gigantic Mandela effect with the counselors. Only movie with counselors or potential to be counselors are 1, 2, 6. I mean not even the remake has counselors. Wow three of the 12 movies - only counselors
I finally caved and ordered my full set.. I have all these on DVD AND blu ray already lol but this set came with the poster and lithograph AND the 3 replacement disks... I paid 165. I'm happy with the price. I'm just glad to have it.
Thanks for being honest about the box set! I just got mine today and love it! Like you I bought almost all the DVDs and Blu-ray’s before minus the tin set.
This is on sale for $80 right now. I'm up in the air on getting because of talks of them being released on 4k.
I love the Halloween Franchise but was not feeling the deluxe set with the random DVDs throughout for the set (hate the inconsistency in format) plus the price for a majority of movies that I'm middle of the road, loving 1, 2, 4, and 7, the rest just being meh to good. I would personally love them to try and rerelease the halloween franchise again after the next set of films wrap up. Even if it's a repackaging of existing discs with the new ones added, I'd buy that for the $100+ price lol.
I gotta for F13, I really dig this set more in presentation of the discs and art box. I'm a sucker for good art work. While Halloween has a nice minimalist approach, I can help feel it would've been cool to have a collage of iconic moments or even paintings of the distinctive masks throughout the history of the movies spread around the box imo. I'm also glad that despite the defects on the F13 set, they're already doing a replacement program for the discs. So now I can fully enjoy the set now. ^^
When I heard scream factor were releasing this, I ordered it straight away.
Who cares if two of the discs are the same ones that were available before.

Grumpy Heath is a hoot! 😂 I ordered, awaiting delivery, I somehow managed to get the Halloween one, after the initial release way back when, so I knew I needed this one, no questions asked!

This was a great video, Heath. A different and much appreciated perspective than most reviews for this set. As someone with the Blu-Ray tin box set, I'm struggling to purchase this latest set. For me, new scans and individual discs for each of these movies is really appealing. Aynd m love for this franchise runs deep. But nearly $150 with tax for simply better BluRays (and less appealing art & packaging) is a tough sell. I'm leaning toward pulling the trigger, but I feel you on the struggle to upgrade. I just hope the improved visuals are worth it! (Final note: I 100% agree the standalone mask should've been the main art!)
Always appreciate the honesty, Heath. I too have purchased this series one time too many and really hemmed and hawed about whether or not to purchase this. After watching another unboxing video and realizing most of the collection was repackaged material (the F13 remake and FvJ discs are insulting to anyone who plunks down top dollar for this set), I made the very difficult decision to sit this one out. It feels like I'm "missing out" on something but I also feel like that $150 could go towards expanding my media collection in other ways. Like you, I have the 8-film Blu-ray set, the 2004 box set, Crystal Lake Memories, the FvJ & F13 remake Blu-rays etc. I already have 85% of what's in this set, as do a lot of other fans. I hope the folks who do buy this set enjoy it, but for me, I'll wait it out and complete *my* collection when/if WB ever releases standalone Blu-rays of Jason X and Jason Goes to Hell.
Anywho, thanks for this video and for helping me (and others) feel less crazy about not buying into the hype of this thing.
Cheers, Andy! It does seem likely that parts 9 and 10 would get a standalone Blu-ray release later on when the larger box set is sold out. They could do that as early as next year, especially since all the work has been done on those discs now. And you're right about the hype, you would think this was the debut of all of these movies on Blu-ray, not the THIRD and FOURTH versions of many of them.

I unfortunately missed out on the “Halloween “ box set . I’m hoping eventually they will reissue it with the newer Halloween films.

It's a great set and done very well, the driving factor behind most people investing in it (including myself) was the fact that it's the first time the notorious uncensored scenes from part 2 have ever been shown. I'm surprised you didn't mention that. I'm sure in future single releases of the movie they'll be included though, so if one can wait they can just pick that up. Now if only they could find the uncut footage for part III.
I want to make sure everything solicited is there. I'm hearing reports of missing features that are listed but aren't on the discs, so I stayed away from doing an actual review until it's all sorted out.

The tin set doesn't scratch the disc's, bought it when it first came out and never had a problem
You got lucky! I know a guy who went through every set on the Best Buy shelves (via the customer service counter) trying to find an unscratched set.
I didn’t feel to bad about buying this one, but I have had that feeling plenty of times. I used to get so mad at anchor bay over the Evil Dead franchise and the first Halloween. They put out so many editions, each one with different bonus features. I just had to keep getting them. I didn’t have all of the F13 films collected in a single set so I was happy to get this. Now, about all of the disc authoring errors in this set....

As a budget collector im really satisfied with my 8 bluray set
i felt the same way....but i wound up getting it out of pure fear of regret if i don't.....i was upset that it was over a hundred bucks but whatever.
In the UK we’ve only really had the first 3 films, Freddy vs Jason and the remake on blu-ray until recently with the 8 films boxset. Glad I held out on these so ordered from the US for this boxset. I have a really cool dvd release, so I’ll sell that towards this awesome boxset. I wish I purchased the 15 disc Halloween boxset (I didn’t have a region free player then) and Michael Myers is my favourite slasher icon. I’d kill for that box.
I’m waiting for mine to come, yes, I already have the tin set but I was PO’d I missed out on the Scream Halloween set. I’m not missing out on the 2nd biggest set they’ve done. No way. Scream Factory does too much right (and I have a 3D TV)
Thanks for your honest opinions. I had the same feeling, but I passed on the Halloween set and have regretted it since so I pulled the trigger. I have a buddy who will appreciate my old discs so I won't be swimming in redundant releases. That said, they can stick the 4K up their butts, I am done rebuying these movies.

I’ve never owned any Friday The 13th anything until this set. I just never got into them for some reason. I did buy this set because my Wife wanted it, but I’m sure I will enjoy watching the films. I did hear there are problems with this set, such as missing audio and scenes as well as other issues.

Anyway this was an easy grab for me since I only owned 1 of the movies on bluray, and I didn't even own 5 and 8 yet.

Looks like 13,000 total. 7,000 of them had posters and lithographs through Scream Factory themselves, but those sold out in pre-order. That would mean there are a total of 6,000 units that were sent to retail sites. VERY limited, indeed.

I bought this set the end of November. I've never seen any of the films.
You can buy it on Amazon. Idk if that applies to the 13,000 or if the 13,000 number was just with posters and other stuff from Shout Factory but it’s available on Amazon
My understanding is that the 13,000 is divided among Amazon and ALL other retailers. Shout/Scream had 7,000 super duper special editions with the posters, but those all sold in pre-order, I believe.

Okay, so all of those poster/lithograph bundles sold out in pre-order directly through Shout Factory's website. I suppose that means that only 6,000 box sets were sent out to retail. That's even more scarce than I thought.
I didn't have any of these movies on home media before this new boxset. I only had the first two on digital. I'm happy to have them now! I do understand the fatigued caused by multiple copies of movies coming out.
Ah, that explains why its so expensive to get Empire of the Ants, The Dunwich Horror & Attack of the Crab Monsters on Blu Ray.

Still wondering how this set is still available lol.
But for real how gorgeous is this presentation that Scream Factory has given us. Every single case has original poster art. The tin set doesn't compare to the feeling you get when you pull out part 7 and feel like your holding a full release other than just a clanky metal box of discs that represent the series. Even some of those stand alone blu rays you showed in the video have disgusting blu ray logos plastered all over the front cover art. These movies have been released a million times but if you are that mega F13th fan and want the cleanest looking set as of today, this boxset clearly is the choice over loose blu rays (that is until 4KUHDs happen for each film). Just my 2 cents, feel free to disagree.
We deserve a new F13 movie.

Got one with the posters! I find it pretty cool also that they have 13 individual cases in the box set. I think it is a great box, overall. I did see that the Freddy V. Jason and Friday the 13th remake are the same discs and same menu design. 1 through Jason X have the Scream Factory Menu. The artwork is really good throughout and each movie is nicely done itself. Paramount just did a lazy job on the 8 movie box set of blu-rays awhile back. No artwork at all on the discs, no booklet and no 3D glasses for that original Part 3 release.
This new set has all of that and an all new 3D version. It looks good.
Heath, they did the same thing for Vincent Price, Volume 1 blu-ray set that sold out quickly and was OOP. The newer release has the extended version of Masque of the Red Death. However, it does not have the Vincent Price intro on each movie if you want it. I was fortunate to get the very first release. I got the extended as a standalone because I love that movie and it did have good extended scenes in it, about over a minute in length.

I usually NEVER buy limited edition sets but I quickly made an exception for this set because this is a upgrade for me. I only own the “Paramount 8” on DVD and i was looking for a upgrade. Looking at this seemed like a good choice and I wanted to make up for me missing the Halloween set since both sets are kind of similar in terms of the concept of having all the movies in one set and being limited. I honestly hope that they do the same for A Nightmare on Elm Street because the current set that’s out now is really subpar and deserves a way better treatment and it’s my favorite horror franchise of all time.
I agree, limited number releases are very annoying and to me totally pointless. This looks so cool though. They did a great job.

I have to agree with you on the artwork. It’s just far too busy with all the Jasons montaged together. The Halloween sets design is far more pleasing to look at.

Mine is supposed to arrive this weekend. It's funny; I don't have as many versions as you---just that same box set of DVDs (which I have to keep because they're signed by all the Jasons), but I did feel conflicted about spending that amount of money just to upgrade (I'm very picky about what I upgrade and usually it involves getting rid of the lesser version to save space). Still, it is my favorite horror franchise and I think the features alone will bring me around.

I thought long and hard if it was worth it, pre ordered the set, then two weeks later cancelled my order, then thought about it some more and reordered it and now I have it. Scalpers on eBay were selling it in advance for way more when you could easily order it on Amazon for the regular price. I actually didn't watch any unboxing video and waited for your video. I didn't want to buy the whole set either, but I wanted to finally have part 3 in BluRay 3D form, so that's why I bought it, but it didn't matter, because the place I bought it from, twice, cancelled my order. I'm trying to figure out if I should wait and see if they perhaps release part 3 in 3D by itself in the future.
I am in complete agreement with you. I was grumpy, too! However, Shout! Factory still got my money in the end. LOL Not sure if any of these Blu-rays will actually be played, or if they'll just sit in their cases--looking good on the shelf.

Although I already had these films on 2 different DVD versions I never upgraded to Bluray so this box set was a no brainer for me, and I don't regret it. However, I just don't understand the limited issue policy. Yes, it may give the company an initial panic buying spree income, but ultimately it just lines the pockets of ebayers who snap it up with the intention of selling it on at highly inflated prices down the line. Surely it would make more sense for Shout/Scream Factory to produce more and rake in all the money themselves.
I bit of a side point to your video, but I remember when scream factory was initially selling the 16 disc halloween set on their website for a limited time. I bought one, about a week later I got an email saying they had over sold on the limited sets so they cancelled my order and issued a refund. I then used the refund to buy the 10 disc set. 2 weeks later I get the 10 dick set and then two days later I get a package from scream factory, confused I opened it and saw they sent me the 16 disc set as well. I double checked my bank account, they hadn't charged for me it after the refund.

Never Hike Alone has been pressed twice by that fan film's producers on Indiegogo in small print runs, but it appears to be currently unavailable.
Have you had a chance to view the film quality yet? Would love to hear your take on it in a follow-up video.
So far I have watched parts I - VII as well as sampled some of Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X to see if I have the already reported reported issues, and sadly I do. Parts I and II were great video and audio quality and the Stereoscope 3D transfer on Part III was pretty decent and much better than the old school anaglyph. It’s not near as crisp and clean like your newer Blu-ray 3D discs are though, as there were quite a few moments of annoying image “ghosting” but the colors were nice and rich and the picture was pretty clear outside of the “ghosting”. As far as the reported opening credits not “popping” goes, mine did pop quite well BUT once the “Friday the 13th Part III” title fully extended out it was REALLY blurry to see and hard on the eyes. In fact it's the only stereoscopic 3D movie that I own that has this type (as well as the "ghosting") of issue plaguing it. I had two others watching with me and they also said the same thing I did, so I know it's not just my "age" catching up to me. Personally I’d rather have the replacement discs that are being issued remedy the “ghosting” issue more than anything else on Part III. I had no reason to check the 2D version so I cannot comment on the quality of that film at all. Although I’ve heard of people having issue about the video and audio quality of that transfer. Video and audio on The Final Chapter is great as well and I had no issues with that one. Parts V, VI and VII have probably never looked better than do on this set, especially for not being 4K scans. I don't have the tin to compare it to, however. Now unfortunately on Jason Goes To Hell as well as Jason X that's where it starts going downhill. Imagine that, where Paramount bowed out the biggest problems begin. I honestly felt that the stand alone New Line DVD’s of Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X had better video and audio quality throughout and that these Blu-rays were no better than high end VHS quality. These just didn’t seem like Blu-ray quality to me. I’m hopeful that these issues as well as the others that have been reported (missing "uncut" scene and out of synch audio on Jason Goes To Hell and missing audio on a scene in Jason X) are remedied through the replacement discs now being offered. Honestly, at this point I ALMOST regret parting with my New Line DVDs as they had no issues whatsoever and had consistent video and audio quality. Personally (and I am a huge advocate and absolutely love SHOUT/SCREAM’s products and own several of their other releases) I think what really hurt this release was that they never should’ve set such an early release date after announcing the pre-order. I understand the intent of wanting to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original film and all, but they really should’ve taken more time (maybe realistically released it in the first quarter of 2021 or even better yet, October of 2021) and delivered a more polished quality end product. Sure a good majority would probably have an issue with that, but either they want something “now” just to have it OR they can be patient and wait for maximum quality. One or the other, can’t have both.

Have the tin set already with crystal lake memories I really tried to tell myself not to get this. However all the new extras and new packaging every disc to its own case and this being my 2nd favorite horror series just made me pull the trigger. Did it through your link by the way hopefully my favorite horror series a nightmare on elm street gets its due very soon because the current blu ray set is inadequate imo great video!

Be sure to submit your request for the three replacement discs on Shout Factory's website. There were flaws on the Friday the 13th part 3, Jason Goes To Hell (Unrated) and Jason X discs.

@@nicklesm202 I believe the issues were that Friday the 13 part 3 (on the 3D version) didn't have the full 3D effect during the introductory title, Jason Goes to Hell omitted a couple shots on the Unrated disc and there was an audio issue during a scene on Jason X.
Dude 1-4 have 4k scans , part 2 has never seen footage , there in their own cases , the extras alone which I only mentioned a few , are worth this set , there is no Friday set even close to this , that tin set with those shitty sleeves isn't even close to this. Who ever buys this set would never need another Friday set the rest of their days , i know I won't.
The 4K scans are compressed down to Blu-rays, meaning 75 percent of the visual upgrade is lost. We will ALL be buying these movies again at some point.

And I said to myself, listen, if you decide you don’t need this, will you be able to turn it around for what you paid? Yes. So might as well secure a copy and I can change my mind later
I pre ordered directly from shout. A little peeved about the issues with parts 3, 9, &10. Plus some of the inserts are torn. Emailed them & haven’t heard back from them yet.
What are the issues with 3, 9, and 10? I have heard that some have some missing features. Keep us posted, Rob!
@@CerealAtMidnight the opening title sequence in 3 is messed up on the 3D part. 9 has a missing scene on the unrated cut when that guys arm breaks you don’t see the bone go through the skin like it’s supposed to be. And in Jason X, the audio from the teens in the sleeping bag when Jason slams them against the tree is missing. I believe shout had posted on Twitter that they are looking into getting these issues fixed.
I struggle with the first Friday 13th due to the animal cruelty of the chopping in half of the snake.

I was tempted by this test but I have the tin set from 2012 (or was it 2011?) and couldn't justify the double dip. The way I see it, eventually you're just paying for the special features and if that happens they cease to be special features and become the main attraction. I don't fault anyone who got excited and did do the double dip, but I couldn't personally justify it
Friday The 13th is my favorite horror slasher series, but I had to pass. I have the 1-8 bluray set and the remake on blu so couldn't justify the cost. Hopefully 9, 10 & Freddy Vs Jason will get new separate releases.
For what it's worth, Freddy Vs. Jason is already widely available on Blu-ray and it's the exact same -- literally, the exact same -- disc that's in this set.
Your hair looks cute Heath! 😁 I have the Crystal Lake memories bluray and that is it. I LOVE F13th but that is the only physical media I own of it. I am going back and fourth on getting this box set. That price though......🤣 That Jason artwork is a bit much. They could have been more subtle about it. My favourite Jasons are 3,4 and 7. They could have just put them on and I would have fine 😊

This set does look amazing but I can't afford it and I have the 8 movie Blu-ray set thanks to a good friend but I'm not sure I would if I did have the extra money but I love this franchise and I really need to get Jason Goes to Hell and X at some point just to have them all but I remember being disappointed with Jason X but that was when it first came out so I definitely need to revisit it. I love the extras and I'm curious how much extras are in this set. Great video. I do love the look of that set.

I dunno, man. To me, grumpy was rushing out to buy the numbered (only 50,000 copies) Friday The 13th Ultimate Collection dvd set with Jason's mask. Then, what? A year later? They release the exact same dvd scratching book set that was in the numbered edition, minus the mask of course.
At least with this set, each movie is in it's own case with original artwork. That is something, as a collector, I prefer. Add to that, new scans of several of the films and more extras.
I will agree on one thing. By and large, I'm not a fan of Scream Factory's art. I always use the the reverse original art with one exception so far - and that was only because Pumpkinhead's original art was worse.

There have been two pressings through the Never Hike Alone and Never Hike in the Snow Indiegogo campaign, but I don’t think it’s currently available. If you follow these guys on Facebook and in their Indiegogo page, you’ll know as soon as (of if they) announce a new pressing. Since it’s a fan film of someone else’s copyrighted character, they aren’t allowed to keep it in print or make a profit on the movie, so it comes in small, crowd-funded pressings.

It's a dam good set and Im glad I got it, but I have some minor gripes. Part 5 and 6 should have gotten a 2K scan even though they still look very good. The art for the box looks horrible and seems nothing like Friday the 13th. I also wish Shout offered a limited version that contained only the Paramount 8 and no bonus disc since Im not a fan of the New Line movies. Also, most of the bonus features are overkill.
It's a handsome set but I'd only buy it as an investment. I found the standard blu-ray set for about $5. That's good for me. I'd like to get the Crystal Lake Memories set for additional bonus material. And I'm with you on not being a fan of the rabid-inducing limited releases. Fun intro. Cheers!

It's an awesome set outside of the two errors on Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X... The 3D thing doesn't bother me as I'm unable to watch 3-D anyway, I didn't double dip so bad for this set because I knew eventually one day Scream Factory will put it out and they did! This is not a limited set that's why the math doesn't add up the posters that came with are limited. I hope they do a set similar to this one of Nightmare on Elm Street
It IS a limited set. Only 13,000 were made. of those 13,000, a total of 7,000 of the poster/lithograph bundles were set aside, which sold out in pre-order. That means only 6,000 sets remained to be sent to retail stores and Amazon.

Seriously? The new bonus content alone is worth the pick-up. (Says the person who hasn't picked it up. 😂) I don't own these in any format, though. The artwork is new & different. Why do people always want the same old, same old? You complain about buying the same movies repeatedly, yet you'd prefer to buy them again in a box with plain artwork? 😒 I want something that catches my eye. At least with individual titles, Scream Factory does it right. They give us reversible artwork, so we get both options; one for people who like things boring 😉& the other for those of us who like a little something different 😁. It's been a year since this video. They're still in stock everywhere online. I am about to pull the trigger, right when the first 4K is just around the corner. Paramount won't be having all the special features, so this box is still necessary. 💯
I wouldn't prefer them to release them again in a box with plain artwork, I'd prefer them to not release them again at all until they could give fans something truly special. As mentioned in this video, these movies were mastered in 4K and now, just one year later, they're being released individually to the 4K format. For contrast, look at what Shout Factory has done with Halloween on 4K in the last year: Every Halloween movie from 1978-2002 on 4K AND Blu-ray with tons of new special features. That could have been Friday the 13th, Bry. Let's also consider that the Friday the 13th set from this video was limited to 10,000 copies and STILL has not sold out. Fans are tired of being these movies over and over again, and they voted with their wallets. I also think the fact the way Shout Factory has handled Halloween is a direct result of the lower-than-expected sales numbers from this set. The message of this video is this: if you're going to try to sell me something for a third or fourth or fifth time, then give me the best thing you have. But that's not what Shout did.
@@CerealAtMidnight Agreed. I'm having a hard time lately with all the movies finally getting a blu-ray release. I get excited & buy them, only to have a 4K come out in the next month or 2. I keep hearing "we vote with our wallets". So, if we buy the blu-ray, we may get a 4K, but then we're out double the $. I demand a recount! 😂 I think I still have to buy the Shout! FT13th set. The Paramount 4Ks aren't coming with all the special features, from what I've heard. If Paramount now has the rights back, that means Shout! can't turn around & give us the 4Ks with special features, right?
