Harry drives out of workshop - looking like he's celebrating his 11th birthday! What a great day for all involved.
The look on Harry's face after the Zags start up was just quality. Like a kid in a candy store. 😁😁
Ye its superb! like me getting a model saturn 5 space rocket back in the days of being a child 😁😄
And he looked the same when he took her for a spin, if not more so. That look won't fade soon, no sir! Pure joy.
Ha ha!! Exactly!!!!! (I was thinking kid in a sweet shop!!)🤣
@@mantarayal that's what I meant. I'm just being considerate to the foreign viewers. 😉
Sweet shop you mean
It is a wonderful restoration, there is so much going on under the skin. What a glorious sound, Thanks Harry
Skin is mostly new metal now
sounds like a kid blowing a raspberry
@One Issue Voter, as they said.
@@johnnunn8688 they said they will trim the body..... bit of a bodge. It needs a different rad
@One Issue Voter agreed also some of the welding is a bit suspect to say the least
Not just A car, THE very car that shaped the rest of your life! And now she’s your pride and joy.
Congratulations Harry.
after the test drive, the presenter's mood rose, positive emotions went off the scale
Seeing the Lancia coming back to life and the look on Harry's face is just priceless! Congratulations!
Fantastic video! Iain Tyrell's watching this, thinking 'I could have tuned those carbs by ear..'
Such a pleasure to see the enthusiasm Harry showed upon his return from his first drive
All of everyone's hard work so far summed up in that smile.
My dad had a Zagato in 1971, it was a 1.3 1969 model in a fabulous original metallic colour, called Rosso Mirabella, it was absolutely gorgeous, so gorgeous intact that it attracted attention wherever it went. On one very memorable occasion a chap on his bicycle was so captivated by it's beauty he couldn't keep his eyes off it as we drove by and ended up falling of his bicycle as he turned his head watching us in awe as we drove by, a very funny and memorable moment. My Dad loved the car so much , he would film it on his 8mm cine camera, which when I watch them today they bring back so many memories. The Zagato was a truly beautiful car, a work of art in my opinion and way ahead of it's time in so many respects.
Seeing Harry take it out of the garage, I just knew he couldn't resist taking out farther. Like a kid with a new toy. Part of Harry's charm.
Best channel on CZcams. Amazing video as always. I love the various projects that are underway, and glad I'm not footing the bill.
A boy with his toy, I can actually see the excitement on Harry's face and in his voice. Well done.
Harry's face after driving the Zagato says it all. The time and money that went into bringing this car back from the dead was worth it. It sounds incredible, and I can't wait to see it finished
I am not a big Lancia fan. And I’m not necessarily a big Zagato fan. But I’m a total fan of anyone who is pouring so much passion and resources to revive a unique and lovely automobile such as this one.
This seems to take forever this restoration, then you look close and see the quality of the work, it's going to be totally worth the wait, congrats to all involved thus far, great work indeed.
I cant believe that Harry is going to rally this Jewel....
We love you harry, we hope you are saved.
It's simple really: I can't think of more passionate car enthusiast than Harry.
What a sound! A true Italian beauty 🇮🇹
Great to see it going again! It will be a fantastic car when it’s finished.
wow! the best Harrys video yet, having cut my teeth as a boy on classic restorations and working in the paintshop at Marrrenello to complete my apprenticeship ( those were the days!) i can fully appreciate the work that has gone into this. Harry seeing this wonderful car coming back to life, like a kid in a sweet shop
! Fantastic work by all . Thank you.
The diameter of the exhaust is extremely important on these little V4 engines from Lancia. The original diameter gives you the original performance and engine characteristics, as designed by Lancia. Even a small change in diameter makes a significant difference. On my Appia (the Fulvia's older brother), we experimented with different pipes and even the smallest change was noticeable. Lancia knew their stuff. Keep it to original specs all the way.
So I guess that still holds true for the Abarth spec Twin-cams in the 037 and Monte Carlo Silhouette? Any idea what those were? Cheers
Like the look of the 2000 Sedan on the other ramp. Lovely
Turn the volume WAY UP for this video, it's a great one. After the restoration is completed, this car needs a solid 10-minute video with nothing but the sounds of it and the road while Harry drives it with the brightest smile on his face. 👍
only grown men that love cars can enjoy this...the pure pleasure and the simple joy......lol...
What a charming moment, obviously emotionally charged.
She started so easily, the whole project has been carried out to the highest standard. The result is truly special.
Looking forward to fully assembled!
It is a joy to see such a poor sad car finally restored to proper glory and shine! It put me a smile!
This has got to be my favourite restoration amongst Harry's curent YT videos. I was surprised to see how much work had taken place since the last episode (around 3 weeks sgo) & the look on Harry's face when the engine started first time was just wonderful.
The Lancia is really taking shape & will be a wonderful addition to Harry's collection, especially as he has such an emotional connection to this car. Brilliant stuff!
The flame-orange colour was the right choice - it's a fire-breathing dragon, the little Lancia!! Such an emotional moment after such an eventful voyage of discovery in restoration. Almost cannot wait until you can drive it away for real.
Congratulations, Harry. I have a huge amount of respect and appreciation for these cars now and the amount of work you've put into this one. As an American, we never got these, so I've never seen one. This certainly is a beauty.
I couldn't believe it the other day when I saw one of these driving around in a rural town outside of Melbourne in Aus. These things are incredibly rare to begin with and to see when on a country road out here... I think it may be one of only a few in Australia.
Thank you Harry for supporting craftsmen like these.
I'm following you since some years and i have to say that this is my favorite project from your channel! It's so nice to see you this happy about being back with the Fulvia Zagato! For me it's such dream car and yours sounds like hell! I wish you all the best with her and thank you so much to bring us with you along this journey!
Thank you Harry!
If one could bottle up Harry´s happy feelings and sell them, we´d improve the world.
That color of the car´s so right, and then we have the so sound.
More sports cars for everyone!
The happiest I have ever seen Harry. What a wonderful moment and how good does that machine now look. It's also got a very angry note which suits it perfectly. Great work
Wow… those chaps really have got a wiggle on, pulled out all the stops and made astonishing progress!!! Superb work ❤
Fantastic to see it running after all this time. This has been my favorite project on the channel. Even more than the Jag and the Espada.
Harry in this video reminds me of Christmas when I was 7 and I was trying ride my new bicycle before my dad had finished assembling it. Some kids never grow up and are all the better for it!
I think Harry enjoyed this video more than the viewers!
Almost got a little emotional when that little car came back to life. Amazing work!
You're that happy while there are still a lot of parts missing. Imagine how good this is going to be when its on full throttle with those carbs. It already sounded great when it was ropey so now all the panels are the right shape and its been put together by people who know what they're doing its going to be immense.
This is one of my favourite projects you've done. Its so good to see a car that has been bodged and half done for years get restored back to better than new. I can't wait to see it out and about now. Even the colour suits it. Love that little car.
Oh Harry, you are such a child. BUT SO WOULD I BE. Beautiful. You have the resources to bring this baby to life and bravo, bravo, bravo.
Sounds better than a 1600 has any right to! That is going to be so much fun.
That's been so, so satisfying... It roared into life so nicely, and the sheer excitement of driving it around the block must have been incredible. Fantastic!
Wow. Just wow!
Immensely satisfying to see this project come together. (The broken throttle pedal pretty much summarizes the entire journey). Very well done!!
The Birth of another Baby for Harry and it breaths . Checking with instruments and not a piece of old hose pipe , catch up Ian ? Now a waiting the maternity fee and letting the lady at home another mouth to feed . Well done to all in the rebirth of an icon and Harry .😀
Looking extremely sharp
Wow, barely touching the key and it lights up instantly. That's a happy engine. And that sound!! Delectably Snotty!
I love this car. Really grown on me. Love these ‘ground up’ restorations. Iain Tyrell would tune the carbs using a hose pipe. 😂
HaHa. I think everyone watching this was thinking the same, and expected to see a rubber hose sticking out of his ear. 👂
We're always to amazed that our old cars start again after we pull them apart and yet... the factory produced 1,000's and they all started!
Drove to Paris and back to Manchester with my old restaurant boss Fernando and a fellow waiter,Pete in 1984 ish...... A magnificent machine!
Happy as a kid on Christmas morning. Almost as loud as a Christmas Cracker. What joy and excitement. Well done guys.
The only thing better than this will be seeing Harry drive it for the first time
Oops! Should have watched the whole video before commenting🤣
It's looking lovely! I've seen a few of these, but I think they all must have been bondo-monsters. Seeing yours, the real beauty of what Lancia and Zagato were doing is revealed!
Not much of original metal left
Man what a great job they did. True Masters at there craft.
Harry like a kid in a sweet shop, fantastic. It is amazing how much joy a car can bring to the genuine enthusiast. I bet it feels better than picking up a new Ferrari. Great stuff.
It's better than new
This car comes from such a great time in automotive history when Italian manufacturers like Lancia and Alfa Romeo made such stunningly beautiful coupes that were purpose built for spirited driving through the Italian Alps.
congratulations to the mechanics excellent work
Wonderful to see Harry like a kid in a sweetshop, that little Zagato is a very emotive thing! Fabulous restoration and so glad we have been able to follow it.
Looks great Harry. Just a quick one on the Carb intake stacks, two of these could be longer than the other two due to the asymmetric port lengths across the Narrow angle Lancia V4. From the back of the engine coming forward it should be short/long/short/long and ideally the difference in length should be circa 100mm? This would certainly help to equalize the induction port length. 👍🏻
You can change the trumpet lengths but that does not alter the fact that the position of the Emulsion tubes within the carburettors are always at different lengths in regard to the position of the inlet valves and that is why when all said and done a vacuum check will not be 100 percent accurate as was shown because one reading was done on a short intake length and the other on a long intake length but because the Radiator precludes measuring the front port then you do no 2 on the first carburettor and no 4 on the second carburettor as they are both the same length inlet tract and then the tricky part is setting the idle mixture screws and in that area experience with Fulvia V 4 engines is of great importance as they are an art to get as close to perfect as you can.
Didn't they mention something about other trumpet options? I got the impression they wanted to see how it worked with this setup before deciding whether to see if a different setup would work better.
Whenever I see that engine I imagine it doubled-up into an ultra-compact little W8. It must have crossed the minds of a few Lancia people back in the day. ETA >> I was grinning non-stop at the end when Harry drove it out of the garage. ETA2 >> no mistaking that sound for anything but an Italian - if heard it coming I'd know it was a Lancia or maybe an Alfa.
After all that work and Webers from a completely different car and it fires up like that. Amazing. Then that classic Italian music in almost perfect tune from the start.
Love it. Impressive by all involved
👍👍
Fabulous video. Magical stage of the process.
Anyone who has ever rebuilt a car will appreciate the immense complexity of the mechanicals required to get an old car moving under its own motive power.
Anyone who has ever rebuilt a car will recall the magic of the noise, sounds, smells, sensations of its rebirth - they’re old memories reborn!
This video captures these emotions succinctly.
I remember getting an old mini going again, and feeling similar sensations. It didn’t need doors or a dashboard - just as long as I could feel and hear the thing going again, I was happy to have my car back. Just as in this case, the rebuilt engine was more powerful, cleaner and stronger than the rusty old thing that it once was - but felt instantly familiar.
Absolutely gorgeous!!! I hope one day Lancia will return to its former glory
You took us on an adventurous journey and the result is more than rewarding. So happy for you! Amazing work from everyone involved. Can‘t await the first shakedown and a proper road trip.
Very Big 👍 from me, those craftsmen definitely know what there doing Harry.
A dog with two Kn**s wouldn’t be any happier
Love this car and build ❤
This is joyous. This car will be forever the ‘Harry Meaden, Lancia Fulvia Zagato”. With a unique documented heritage.
Bravo, Bravo.
I've rebuilt a few engines. There's nothing like the thrill when it first fires up.
I felt your excitement. 👍
Lancia Zagato!
THE stuff of legends, well, here in the U.S. at least. I worked on one DECADES ago. Gave her a Pertronics ignition, set valve lash, and tweeked the carbs, & took it for a drive. Great, FUN car!
Enjoy her Harry!
I couldn't help but smile watching your excitement, Harry. That authentic love of the specialness of various cars, despite having driven (and even owned) so many, is one of the things that makes your channel such a delight.
Wow - what an awesome series this is - really enjoying to see the Zagato transformation. Now it starts to look like a brand new car. Great work, from everybody involved.
Must be the best one there is now . Congratulations harry
These people are artists. Their work is just beautiful. Can't wait to see the Fulvia on the road again.
He is right, "it sounds really good" !!!! That glorious "rasp" from the tail pipe makes me think of my old S3 Fulvia SSD 377M, long gone.......and the colour is spot-on!
Always good to see a happy fellow petrol head!
Harry. So pleased for you. The joy on your face. An early Christmas present.
Back to life, baby. I enjoyed that almost as much as Harry. A nice car.
It's an endlessly interesting design, everything under the hood and below the car is very clever and interesting. Then the work looks lovely, add superb body style, I apologize for ever suggesting this was bit far to go on this car. Very happy for Metcalf. You can calibrate that carb vacuum gauge with Tyrrell's hosepipe.
6:17 Make sure that the fuel lines (especially rubber hoses) aren't too close to the exhaust system. 🙂 Radiated heat doesn't need to make physical contact.
Wonderful day. I can’t wait to see this gorgeous little car finished and blazing along the road.
Fantastico momento! Che soddisfazione!!! Bravissimi
All credit to your team of restorer’s top work.
I wasn't prepared for how amazing it sounds. It's mega
YOU KNOW YOU HAVE GREAT MECHANIC'S, WHEN YOU MENTION SOMTHING (LOWER SUSPENSION) YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH AND ITS FIXED BY THE NEXT VISIT 🙂💪👌👍 GREAT GREAT JOB BOYS.
... The Beast lives on! Thanks Harry.
You gotta love a pair of 45's. They go on forever.
50 years old sounds superb well done awesome
The sound is magnificent 😍
Harry looked like a kid in a sweetie shop when he got in and drove it for the first time. What a wonderful restoration series.
When a car falls in to Harry's lap you know its in safe hands and he'll make it great again. That is one very sweet car now. It sounds absolutely fabulous !
So, basically, it's a new car. Nice to be able to follow the proces. Thanks.
Nothing like the induction sounds of webbers. I had a tripple setup on my old 240Z. Beautiful sound. Can't wait for the first drive in this beautiful car.
Such a delight to see Harry fizzing with so much excitement.
You are basically getting a brand new Lancia Zagato 1600 Harry!
Wow i didn't expect to be so happy seeing it on its own power
I have absolutely zero interest in the Lancia Zagato but would I skip this and miss one of Harry's video's ? Absolutely no chance. Great entertainment as always.
I've been watching you channel so long that I started clapping at my TV when she started mate! Keep up the great content
Awesome job. Sounds great, once that’s dialled it will purr along. I love your enthusiasm, ‘A kid at Xmas!’ I’d be the same. That’s how my car makes me feel when you’ve been out driving it and step out, walk away and look back at it. Usually followed by take a photo!
A truly joyous moment when the Lancia fires up ✌🏼👏🏾👏🏾
Sounds great ✌🏼
