Good job. I always add a cable with a turnbuckle so any sag, over time, can be corrected with an adjustable wrench. Never underestimate hanging kids, jumping/gnawing huge dogs, and yardmen cramming large mowers and tree limbs through it. I also offer a Thompson's water seal treatment for an extra $45. Like floor mats, they usually take it.

I use a 18v dewalt circ saw, it is an amazing little saw that combined with a speed square is very accurate. I did modify it a bit making a lock back pin for the blade guard, it seems to really help with the accuracy.

because the wood is constantly shrinking, I like to use some sort of metal diagonal brace. either turnbuckle and cable or long strap of some sort of top hinge across to bottom of panel support. Helps keep the gate shape for many years. Seen gates I've built 25 years later that still were in perfect shape all through the wood had rotted. Quick fix for posts like that I just make a metal cap.

How do you handle an abundance of work? I was thinking of hiring someone to take over some of the appliance repair jobs but am worried my standard and quality will not carry over. Also I worry about a customer asking for more work to be done and my employee taking the work on the side rather than represent my business. What would you recommend?

I recently retired from thirty-four years of building fences. I guarantee you that in three months that gate latch will need to be adjusted. Gravity is the most powerful force on earth. It will not be denied. Also, the gate will dry out and the pickets will move and shrink a little. I've not seen one wooden gate out of 50 that didn't need adjusted within a year of installation. Overall, not a bad job for a "fast and nasty"!

Hi from the UK. I enjoy all your vids and have been watching for some time now. I am confused by the title you use " Handyman" this term would never be used to describe you in England as a handyman is some one unskilled and will mow the lawn or fit a shelf , assemble your flat pack furniture, clear rubbish, a bit of painting, small un-skilled work in the home. You are obviously a skilled trades man, qualified and licensed to work on Electricity , skilled Carpenter / Joiner , not sure if you are qualified or licensed to work on Gas appliances as I was concerned you did not carry out any gas safety tests, operating pressures, consumption rating, flue performance test, spillage test or combustion analysis of the Hot Water Cylinder with Integral Gas Burner. how did you test for Carbon Monoxide ? in the UK I have to maintain ALL my qualifications and re-train every 5 years at my cost £750 domestic gas only, I have to be Licensed under Gas Safe and pay each year £180, my Gas Analyser cost £850 sterling and requires to be calibrated each year £120, add in insurance , public liability each year, ALL just to be able to be a Gas professional Heating Engineer

I don't want to be "THAT GUY", but why are the gate slates higher than the original level of the fence itself? Also, the tiny little gap under the original gate seems to be the same gap in the new gate. I would have used a piece of thinner wood (plywood) at the bottom so the gate is as close to the ground as possible. Seems like you just built the exact same gate you removed.
If the customer/renter was picky enough to worry about their dogs getting out of the first gap, Im sure they won't like the new gate with the same gap at the bottom.

@@TheHandyman1 I stand corrected...learned something new today, thank you sir WHAT IS THE “RIGHT” WAY TO BRACE A GATE
The reason we brace gates is primarily to keep it from sagging, to keep it functioning as it was intended to from the beginning.
Poor or improper bracing will cause the gate to have " Vertical Deflection" or sag. Compression Bracing
A compression cross-brace takes weight from the top bar and transfers it by pushing down against the bottom hinge,
or a vertical component or post, which transfers load to both hinges. Hinge Side on Right with Brace running from Top of latch side to bottom of hinge side. Typical on Wooden Gates.
