Brilliant Season!! UTV
Hugh Johns - wonderful commentator.
Thank you so much for posting, fabulous memories - this is my 1st season supporting Stoke, but remember some of the brilliant football played that season by
the likes of Ipswich, Villa & West Brom.
These compilations are the nuts. Thank you. Some football gold right here, and that's just the commentary! Classic!
Walsall, Brentford, Cambridge United and Exeter City - you don't see those clubs featured on TV today!
Yes you do every week on the football league show on Quest.
I've seen quite a bit of Brentford recently...
What excellent footage! Amazingly well done
Great, great players, great atmosphere, skill with a massive dose of passion.
Now it's all fucked up....
Another great compilation
I love these compilations but cannot believe how many Forest defeats are on them!
The ever-invisible Coventry amongst the Midland's highlights (I know there's the League Cup game towards the end). Oh, and I did see a penalty being scored against us in the Yorkshire section (I wonder if that was the only goal?).
Brian Moore, Hugh Johns, Gerald Sinstadt, Martin Tyler, Roger Tames, Roger Marlone, Gerry Harrison and Arthur Montford all reported their games for their ITV regions for World of Sport H-T and F-T.
I've just seen (on another video) Southern's coverage of the South coast derby between Southampton and Brighton (Dave Bobin commentating)! How come that ain't on here (it was from September 1980!)
Would you kindly add the London games please ? Thanks for the brilliant footage.

u missed the best the VILLA 👍
Champions Aston Villa.
Boy, has football gone backwards since then. Game dominated by diving, shirt pulling, wrestling, cheating, foreign millionairs now. Sadly I include my team as well.
Does anyone know where I could get the full 7th Feb 81 Huddersfield v Barnsley, my brother was mascot, it would make a good birthday present
Who brought the horn to the Ipswich v stoke game!!
Ipswich were a quality team back then? Those balls with the red panelling were brilliant, the goals looked better with those balls somehow???
bascet1 Yea mitre they were and they were Rock solid too, I was 11 and my mate bought one. I went all Man Utd home games early 80s and we used one 1979-1981.
no they weren't, they were Stuart surridge balls, United used them for a while as well
Why did big Malcolm ever get rid of Peter Barnes at City? He was class! He bought Steve fucking Daley instead! Shouldn't of got rid of Gary Owen either. Peter Barnes went to the dark side but came home eventually..
Brilliant upload. We may have the cream of the worlds players these days but the atmosphere and supporting you're club has gone non league. Cheers Sky, premier league and the greedy fuckers at the FA for ripping the heart out of our national working class game.
Bascet1 totally agree football is a joke nowadays no soul left.
We're r chester? Lol
How Ipswich didn’t win the treble that season is a mystery. By far the best team in the country.
Ipswich were a fine side, also liked Spurs that particuler year.
Chasing to much with a small squad
