  • Hey guys! I’m back with my second true crime and makeup video, thanks for all your support on my last video, it meant so much to me! Today’s story is on the Twilight Killers, and the reason they have this name is definitely a strange one! They are the UK’s youngest double murderers and this is definitely an intense case, there are some parts of this story that really stayed with me. Would love to hear your thoughts on this case down below! Thanks for watching! xoxo

Hi my name is Danielle, welcome to my True Crime and Makeup series! I’ve been interested in true crime for the longest time now, what started with me watching true crime on TV with my Nan from a young age eventually turned into studying for a degree in Law & Criminology.
When I first watched Bailey Sarian’s Murder Mystery Makeup Monday series I was completely hooked, I loved how she had combined two of the things I’m most passionate about and delivered it so well. She totally inspired me to take the leap and do the same thing on my channel, so all credit for the idea goes 100% to her.
I’m from the UK and will be covering cases from both the UK and internationally, let me know if there are any cases that you’d like to see from me! More cases will be coming soon so please subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

And stabbing is a horrific way to kill someone. Both of the people woke up and knew what he was doing but he didn't care. I don't want to justify what they did but the girl's mother was definitely not fit to parent. Being a parent is hard but if your kid has behavioral issues like that and you don't get them help, that's abuse. The sibling dynamics and favoritism wouldn't help either. That kid just needed some really intense therapy and a better caregiver.

To the question why they could fall asleep after the murder. I was reading a book a while ago from a psychologist about crimes. She was interrogating criminals and murderers to see if they are competent for court. She observed that common thing amongst them: she said that a murder requires so much energy, murderers are literally worn out after the killings. So it might have happen that they just fall asleep due to exhaustion. :/ It's horrible.

    • @MsMaryPatricia

They were so fixated on removing the "problem" in their life keeping them apart ie her mother and sister, that after they finally did it, they could "relax". No normal person would feel like that but they're not normal.

I don’t understand why both of the times I’ve seen this covered, people go to great lengths to say that the mom didn’t play favorites. In both cases, they both then describe a bunch of behavior that sure sounds like it to me. And why shy away from it? Parents _do_ often have favorites. It’s their duty as parents to keep their kids from seeing that, to forge unique but reasonably close to equal relationships to all siblings. Elizabeth and Katie were very similar, they were best friends. It’s not Kim’s job to just accept that; it’s Elizabeth’s job to connect with Kim and if they can’t manage to connect on their own there’s all sorts of help available.
I’m not excusing Kim’s insane reaction to Katie’s being the favorite and I don’t think that one hit - which is definitely one too many - should form the foundation of a relationship that dysfunctional. Kim was crazypants and accountable for her own actions. I’m just saying. Elizabeth definitely played favorites and couldn’t or didn’t hide that from the kids.
I mean come on - taking Kim’s things and giving them to Katie as punishment? That’s some Cinderella BS.

At that point, Kim clearly didn't want to live in her mom's house, under her mom's rules anymore. Without knowing what the items were that she gave to the sister, we can't comment properly but perhaps this was an extension of the 'lesson' about what no longer living under her mom's roof would look like - at 14 everything she had would have been purchased by her mom. If she went off with the bf, who was himself only 14 and unable to look after her, those things wouldn't be provided for her anymore. The sister who genuinely wanted to be there may as well have them. Everything else was put in black bags symbolising the situation.
Although the sister got on really well with the mom, this could genuinely just be because she was kind, respectful and grateful, inevitably producing a better relationship in the eyes of onlookers.
Anyway, however we individually see it I respect your use of 'crazypants'.

@@gemmagilmore-darbey175 I could see your perspective as well. Troubled children can be exasperating and exasperated parents can make mistakes.
But if that’s the case then I would say “If you didn’t have favorites, you sure did a good job of *looking* like you did.”
Exasperated parents do make mistakes, to be certain. But let’s not let Katie’s differing behavior set sound like “she was more grateful, she *should* have been treated better.” Because that just plays into fueling a cycle of resentment. And it’s unreasonable to expect a 14 year-old to be the one to break such a cycle.
(Trust me; my parents absolutely expected me to be the ‘bigger person’ than they at times were being, and it took a long time for me to 1) accomplish it and 2) not then also be resentful of *that* expectation on top of the other things I resented.)

I can see this from both sides. Kim's mother was not responsible for her death by any means, but I do believe her handling of this situation was poor. Throwing your child's belongings away and banning them from seeing their partner is just never healthy. Giving their belongings to their younger sibling, even. That's just petty and immature, and shortsighted at best.
Obviously no one could have imagined this scenario turning out this way. Normal teenagers don't react this way to poor parenting, this has a collection of aspects that lead to this unfortunate crime.
But I can't help but believe that if things had been handled differently, this mother and daughter wouldn't have lost their lives- and another daughter wouldn't be losing her life to the prison system.

    • @dianesmith7208
      @dianesmith7208 Před 2 lety +15

I’d never have done that to my children. Kicking them out doesn’t help them or you does it? It’s just adds more fuel to the fire. Lucky for me I was attentive and gave them my love and attention. One big thing though that I told them over and over growing up; mutual respect and love and listening to each other is sooo important to a parent child relationship. They didn’t have drug or alcohol problems, boy/girl trouble nope. That’s not to say they grew up with out bumps and bruises and tears. They tried their things and then chose mostly good friends and common sense most of the time. I also told them that they could be and love whomever they love no matter the who as long as that person treated them with equal respect. My one son is non binary, my daughter is bi. They were both afraid to tell me. When each did I said uh huh, what’s your name? They were somehow surprised that I was like ok, so what else is up with you? In other words, you are my child, you are the same good person you’ve always been and this changes nothing about how I love them. And there ya go! That mom threw more than her child’s things to the curb. She threw out her child as well. Very very sad.

I too have amazing relationships with my daughters and everyday I strive to be the mother I needed and didn't have. But even with all that, especially being pregnant, I wish I had a mom so bad. It sucks so bad to have a "mother" in your life who actively tries to ruin you. & you never get over it, no matter how old you are. I hate her so much that I find solace in the fact that one of her kids is in jail forever, one is dead, I will NEVER acknowledge her, anf shes a horrible wench who will die alone and miserable. This case sits with me weird because growing up I had a similar relationship with my mom and sister, I had so much resentment towards them because they were so close and I felt like I never had anything even remotely like that with anyone, let alone my mom. Thankfully through therapy for other mental health reasons I slowly started to realize that they weren't bad people, and they didn't deserve to be treated the way I had been treating them for so long, and slowly I changed and tried to work on our relationships. I'm so thankful for that because now we're all pretty damn close with one another and I do feel relatively accepted and supported by my mom but hearing about Kim's story makes me wonder what would've happened if I never changed. I would never go as far as she did, but it's crazy for me to think about how at that age we went through very similar things, and how differently things turned out for us.

I’m not excusing them for what they did, but I was in awe when it was said that Kim’s mom put all her stuff in containers & basically gave her stuff away at 14. No wonder she was so messed up and essentially resented her mother to the point where she did what she did. As a women who grew up without a mother, it was incredibly hard and every day I wondered why I wasn’t enough. Before I was even a teen and it still sits with me today, as someone almost 30. I was even basically locked out or kicked out really, at 17 bc I was with a boy she didn’t like and that ruined my life. And this mother did it at 14? What the fuck ???????
I’m not blaming her for what ended up happening, but I will put blame on her for the way she chose to parent Kim that made her hate her mother. I’d be interested to know if Elizabeth actually put forth any effort in helping her daughter rather than just chalking it up to “having different personalities”. Ugh it’s gross

I live in the US, I'm really enjoying this. Could you do a story on Jean-bonnet Ramsey? I'm curious what ppl think outside of the US.
