- As my last Daring vid was from the days of the WiP ship, I figured it was time to update this one. The ship is especially good in the current meta with rocket planes buzzing about all the time, as fast acting smokes gives you a convenient shelter.

Calm waters = less stress on the encoder = better quality. The WoWs usual water KILLS video quality a bit like something like snow falling would.
time to upgrade to 1440p! ;-) But it looks pretty decent to me.

@@Shadow.24772 yes, but it's very low tier and the enemies are extremely slow, couple that with a lot of islands in these low tier maps, and a good player can work around the lack or torpedo range

Ah yes, I too use the Calm Waves mod found on Aslain's modpack. Its easier on the eyes imo and in some cases, it makes it easier to line up a perfect broadside salvo into a ship's broadside! -But then your shells will miss anyway.- Also:

Water always seems to be the worst culprit on my machine.
@@bosunbones.8815 I dont see a difference on mine, if anything it made my gameplay look smoother im at a solid 75fps with and without the mod

The tactic you use with HMS Daring here is the exact same one I use in my HMS Icarus and HMS Lightning.
Slow down, smoke, blast, run.......rinse and repeat.
Loose off some torps as ye go etc.
Love the daring, not only does everyone underestimate you but I love how it plays. Best moments are leap-frogging (which is what I've been calling it personally as well!) just outside the radar ranges of those thirsty cruisers. Only downside is the heal being a bit underwhelming but if you play your cards right, it's not a big problem - at least you have a heal or two.
That water effect is beautiful. Cracking game too.
Perfect timing on the vid, got the Daring just about the time this came out! Tried using it like my Gearing, and it wasn't working very well at all. Started with the hit and run smoke gun tactics, and suddenly the results are amazing!

The fire setting ability is indeed God tier for a DD. I had an amazing round where I set 17 fires with the Tier IX Jutland

Nice video. I was really punching myself in the nuts my first few matches with Daring trying to use it as a hybrid torp boat. I've been appreciating the AP but think I'm still underestimating the HE potential.

My RN DD style is running and gunning and smoking up is to ninja disappear if I get in a nasty situation. Yes, she is slow, but you are super agile and very small. Plus with this rate of fire, you don't have to worry about missing shots at max range. In my experience enemies tend to get bored of missing you and target bigger friendlies. Ah, important part of this is that there are other things to shoot at for the enemy. Also 1 of the best thing is the 360 degrees rear turret which can make you agressive most of the time able to use full attack potential while dodging incoming fire.
Why do I feel like the mod added some sort of gigantic plastic layer on top of the water ? Image quality is top notch tho

I think you forgot to mention one very important thing about Daring. It has the great british acceleration with the same sluggish way to come to a full stop.
The calm sea mod is amazing. I use it for a while now and will stick to it. It also does wonders to the FPS on old computers. The only downside is the shade or reflection it creates when zooming in on an enemy ship. But it goes away by lowering or disabling the additional reflections in the GFX settings of WoWs.

Hi, I earned that camo on the lightning, how do you get it on the Daring? The Lightning more then holds its own at tier 10 too.
Parody The Daring perma camo can be obtained in the exterior tab for 5000 doubloons.

Just remember now this thing has 19mm pen so now this thing is even better as a firestarter and can spec RDF as well
It picks up speed quickly though so it dodges surprisingly well

I never made any efforts to grind the IJN DD line, but I can't avoid feeling really bad for the Shimakaze in the current meta. Like, I probably shouldn't but I just felt so bad seeing it be completly wrecked by the Daring.
Daring is a villain to every other t10 DD, not just shima. What they're really worried about is CVs
The thing is most shimas don't run SE which is a huge mistake. The Shima still has her place though as the biggest torp monster in the game. If you manage to be in the right place when the enemy pushes you can break 100k at the 3 minute mark quite well. Plus she is fast enough to get where she needs to go.
Shima still is a great DD when it comes to competitive.

Reminds me of a game I had in my Aki the other day, when my team called me a noob for not sitting I'm my smoke in the open cap with an enemy Moskva and Buffalo rushing me. Yes, because smoke negates radar, right?

I recently Switched from a Gunboat Gearing to Torpedo build Somers, and OMG now i realize the OP ness of the daring, when i can no longer delete it in a duel.
The only DDs that can beat Daring in a close range duel are Kleber with reload boost active and Harugumo if his guns are already pointed the right way. The rest get shredded no matter what captain build they're running.

Whenever I need a wows pick me up I watch this video and get stoked and play daring and everything feels ok for a little bit. But then I remember I still need 1.5 million more xp until I even have one maxed commander ):

hte new settings are better tho image is slightly more blurred at motion but the upped framerate does a big job and makes it looks better over all, imo.
this thing is even better than the gearing since i am gun heavy.

@@jimmyc00l Because the game was a toxic cesspool the last time I played it and I want to know ahead of time before I download a 20 GB game with my 1 MB download speed internet. WG refusing to balance their game doesn't help either.

I feel like Daring is kinda similar to Grozovoi in a playstyle... Useful torps and very strong guns, useful consumables. I play both in a similar way. But half times you smoke up in Daring, you just kite with Groz... Two very fun ships.
Daring is for a lot closer engagements
I partially agree and partially disagree on the smokes against planes.
On one hand you're right with the smokes reloading so quickly and having so many that you aren't wasting them when you use them defensively
On the other, and this is definitely a niche, the total duration of the smoke from emission to dispersion is 50s: shorter than the fighter consumable. In a situation where there's no-one spotting the fighters, the CV will always have that 10s spotting when you leave the smoke (plus the shorter duration might encourage them to stick around).
Aside from that, great commentary as usual, though I would think the flak upgrade would be interchangeable with aiming systems, seeing as you spend a lot of time with your AA disabled anyway
Edit: Mixed feelings on the modded water, I mean it's pretty but doesn't look right (for the scale of the game) imo

Totally agree that games these days are mostly steamrolls... is it matchmaking? CVs? What do you guys think?
I'm not sure, however I think it's mostly a combination of the current meta and player skill. I think player skill has been worsened by new spamming ships like smolensk which encourage passive play, after all you can't expect a bb to push with a cruiser camping behind - it results in too much concentration of fire on one player. With that said, controlling flanks is crucial in this game. I've noticed that in most of these steam roll games if not all, one flank falls (mostly being A I have no idea why. I think it tends to be a more open aggressive flank due to similar map designs) and then the people at C tend to camp around island cover and result in more passive playstyle. Then they are fighting on two fronts with broadside exposed from the fallen flank and it just becomes impossible for any kind of carry to occur.

or like how 8 out of a 12 team went behind one island then sat there for 12 minutes. That sort of roll. Makes you want to shell your own team sometimes.
You either have suicidal DDs that "Try" to take the cap but they get assraped by CVs, Radars and godtier shelling or you get the superbly passive DDs that avoid the cap like the black plague.
Then there's me being an idiot open gunboating in a Harugumo lmao.
@@bladeclanhalo3 I wouldn't say DD players are the worst, but DDs are a demanding class so your average potato that might not be as noticeable in a BB or CA is much more noticeable in a DD
RPF vs IFHE on Daring?
Usually just use AP on all, except trying to get few fires on BBs.
Pienimusta I think you want to set as much fires as possible so don’t take ifhe
IFHE is mandatory if you want to be optimal. You can't Pen DDs and BB's superstructure otherwise. DDs just have to angle and then you're fucked.

Great video (watching it for the third time I think) but it brings to mind the effect of TIME on these tutorials. In this case the IFHE rework has effectively flipped the situation where the Daring is concerned - you CAN now pen 19 mm without IFHE while adding IFHE has a greatly increased penalty where fire-starting is concerned and brings no benefit at all. Almost makes me wish you would pin a comment at the top of your older vids warning people not to follow equipment/skill recommendations which have been overtaken by time ...
