When depression and lack of spiritual fitness meets opportunity for using. 😖
Well said! 🤩
Kyle is right, there doesn't have to be a traumatic event that occurs.I had four months off meth and no traumatic event occurred. I was taking my dog for a walk when I ran into a friend that I missed. He walked home with me and the rest is history. I call it a 3 day slip. I'm back to being clean, but I have to be very careful right now.
I'm so impressed that you got back on track so quickly! Very impressive. Thank you for sharing that 🤩
Excellent video. Thank you Amber and Kyle for sharing your experience and wisdom.
I personally try to respond to loved ones relapse really calm and loving bc I’ve learned that when they relapse it’s day and day out self loathing and suicidal thoughts. What a beast these drugs are. After detox and back into recovery I sometimes get angry and sad and share that with them but it’s better to learn and grow smarter and more supportive.
You get an A++++
It’s great you can be so honest
It's so nice to hear some one talk about these difficult issues in such a genuine way!
Thank you for sharing - I have been trying very hard to understand why my BF has relapsed so many times.
I love Sober Dog!!!!
Me too!
I do too. I just kept cheering for him. Then cried some too when he talked about his PO having a prior young person die.
@@PutTheShovelDown He's also gorgeous :)
Mine says hes thinking drinking.. It's not full blown drunk binge but its enough. He gets ill for a few days from it but then hes ready for another drink after he starts feeling better.
Thanks!
Thank you Anthony! shoot me an email if you get a chance. There's something run by you. amber@hffrc.com
Ah yes. those fatal, self deceiving five words: "Just one indulgence won't hurt".
you said it, Gwin!
I am reminded of a Mark Twain quote: "You don't have to have a perfect memory when you tell the truth because you don't have to remember the cover story as well as the truth."
Bingo!
My addict claims to be in recovery but continues addictive emotional outbursts of anger and emotional abuse with me. I’ve excused it in the first few times as struggles with PAWS but now I’m starting to feel the outbursts are the addicts way of trying to push me away to give them a reason to use. The addict has also manipulated me to keep their addiction a lie, my failure was agreeing to keep this a secret because I was clueless to how bad the addiction really is. Going through my own recovery program has allowed me to see all of this, now I’m trying to find the resources to help me reverse these mistakes. TY
According to my friend Liz, the relapse starts in the brain when she starts thinking "How can I change things around so that no one will be around and no one will notice what I'm doing? How can I be sure I will be alone when I want to indulge a little bit just one more time?"
Totally agree. It's a return to addictive thinking 💯
Thanks.
You're so welcome
Hi Amber, i’ve been watching you since the beginning. I’ve separated with my husband because of a lot of his relapses. I thought the separation would actually give him huge willpower to stay clean but it didn’t. I still hope I could help him from afar.
Ugh. I'm going to move out until husband can stay clean for a year. What was your husband's drug of choice?
Hi Bright Star, so sorry you're going through this crumby situation 😓 It's not surprising to me that his drinking got worse when you left. I bet the flood gates are wide open 😓
Hi Sherie and Amber, no issues with alcohol at all. He has gambling addiction and I believe his drug of choice is meth. I am really not sure and familiar with these drugs. I know my ex keeps trying to be better but i just couldn’t help him anymore because it’s affecting my mental health soo much.. 😔i had to let go because our kids needs at least one healthy parent..
My AOL uses once a week. He can't shake off using it every week. He is a long term user. I have tried healthy boundaries, I am to the point of kicking him out but won't leave. Not sure how to deal with this. The most he has been sober is 17 days.
The question that comes to my mind is ...Is it his plan to use once a week, or is he trying not to use but falls down about once a week?
I have thought of that and I do give him the benefit of the doubt but I lean more to where he tries to use it only once a week. He has used for over 20 years. When he was sober for 17 days he said that he does not feel right. My guess is that he is not used to feeling without his drug
What was your drug of choice?
Hie ,my husband (29)is heavily alcoholic.
Due to this he is now heart patient.
My child is 4 years
Should I leave my husband? Or stay with him.
Tell him "It's Me and our child, or alcohol. You can't have both. So choose"
I have tried everything
But daily new excuse.
Hi Ritu, Here's a video I made about the topic of decided to stay or go: czcams.com/video/EE5D8U34cl4/video.html
