My sentiments go for the freedom of these creatures in the wild. How i wish they could be transferred to a sanctuary where they could move freely and live as normal chimps
Every time I see that chain I cringe... They are sentient self-aware beings with less than 2% difference from us. They should be protected against ownership.
That don't suprise when I read our human history where humans themselves were chained and sold on roads as slaves just couple of centuries back When we are so brutal towards fellow humans do you think such behavior towards animals is surprising?
This is one of the most heartbreaking things you’ve ever seen? Then consider yourself lucky because as sad and heartbreaking as this is, it’s Disneyland compared to most. None of them look underfed or emaciated in anyway. Sadly it won’t be much longer until that chain becomes far to easy for a chimp to break and odds are, all hell will break loose and it will end up in a sanctuary if it behaves and doesn’t hurt anyone, odds are it will be shot on sight at the first sign of aggression.

@Tracey Benna These chimps spend all day every day where you see them in these videos. The chimps are used as props for tourist photos..so they have to be dressed. Can't be peeing or pooping everywhere. The outfits prevent them from taking the diapers off. No clue where they sleep at night or if they wear clothes at night. However, I wouldn't be shocked to discover that they sleep in this same spot as well.
Finally she gave the older chimp the baby i dont find this cute what so ever. Yes the chimps are adorable but how can people live with themselves treating these chimps so horribly. I hope they get rescued and move to a sanctuary
It is NOT her baby. She is a 5 yr old juvenile chimp. Chimps cannot have babies until about age 14. None of the chimps in this zoo have mothers. They have been ripped away from their mothers in the wild. Their mothers were most likely killed.

This is absolutely awful that the mother is chained up on such a short chain. I can't believe someone is cruel enough to do this to such a sweet chimp.
He doesn't belong in this environment, however he's a juvenile chimpanzee, which means that he is 5× the strength of the average person, sadly this means that it would be extremely dangerous to let him loose. He belongs in a sanctuary with his own kind.

These young chimps have been stolen from their mothers..to be used as paid photo props in this zoo..so tourists can pay to have photos taken with them. That is why the short chain for the juvenile chimp..for photos and to prevent escape..of course. Very cruel!!
Denise Brashears to me the onsie would be good to keep the diaper on if the baby isn’t allowed to be with it mom outside. That would be the only possible reason I could understand that one. There’s nothing cute about captive wild animals yes they are absolutely gorgeous but they need to be in the wild unless they got it captive and are going to try to rehabilitate it for the wild but in this case it doesn’t seem that way

Same , I thought Aww so cute ,then oh , this poor monkey is on a short chain . I don't know if any else noticed but the lady that had the baby pushed the bigger monkey off the porch while the big money was holding the baby. So sad.
Heart breaking,..you can clearly see the older chimp getting more and more anxious the longer the woman was holding the baby and this shows just important interaction their own kind is to them, also look how the older chimp is making himself a natural barrier between the baby and humans, it just shows that even tho the older is still a baby he still instinctively knows what's best for baby,....so upsetting especially when you realise the older chimps is more than aware he is chained and he wants it gone
You don’t know what you’re talking about lady. The older chimp simply wants to hold the baby because she is a female chimp. She is acting on her instincts and that’s all it is. When female chimps hit adolescence they become super interested in infants. It happens in the wild too. Maybe you should actually know what your talking about before you spout out BS. It’s just a adolescent female chimp wanting to hold a infant. It’s instinctive. You reading into it way too much.
I noticed that chain was too short, too. I get they must chain them or they'd run wild, but give them more length to move about like chimps do! Expecially w/a baby. Keep a close eye on them, maybe separate from others who may harm but that chain was about a foot or foot & 1/2 in length. Poor thing. (The Loyola Bonobo Sanctuary never chains their apes. They roam freely & are sweethearts) There must be a reason this guy is chained even tho you see they care very much about their chimps. But he needs more length & I wish a leash or something other than a CHAIN!
BLWN GT 1 I thought that was probably the case as I've seen other videos with adult orangs and chimps that have younger ones n the cages with them. People always assumed the babies were being illegally trafficked from the jungles in Africa but I couldn't understand why when they've got a whole troop they could breed. It kind of looks as if they are training this bigger one to care for a baby so perhaps they plan to move it into their breeding colony who knows It's really not for me to judge honestly because that's a different country with different laws and cultural norms. Right or wrong If they aren't members of the CITES treaty banning them from breeding then they can do as they wish with their chimps if I understand correctly.

i don't for the life of me understand why the zoo staff doesn't play with the really little ones, like the one in this video. babies are used to getting constant attention from their mothers. at least the older chimp seems to understand that the baby needs to be held. but that's not enough. if you're going to have a tiny chimp like this, you've got to give it a lot of physical contact. what they are doing is just not fair to the little imp. there are so many fun games you can play with a tiny chimp. repeatedly toss it up in the air and catch it, going higher and higher each time. tying it to a helium balloon and letting children swat at it with whiffle bats as it helplessly floats around like a pinata. tickling it until it passes out. playing "catch" with a friend by tossing the chimp back and forth like it was a basketball while it squeals in protest. waiting until it's fast asleep then pick it up gently -- being careful not to wake it -- and dropping it into a bucket full of freezing ice water. locking it up by itself in a very scary haunted house for a couple of hours. give it a yummy treat, let it enjoy it for a minute, and then suddenly start yelling at it and blaring an air horn as you chase the screaming little chimp around the room. there's really no limit to the number of fun adventures i'd come up with for this tiny little imp if i was working there. he would never get bored! quite the contrary: he'd probably constantly be alert and on guard for the next terrifying game, nervously rocking himself back and forth in a pitiful attempt to try to comfort himself. please, please, I hope someone working there will read this post and be inspired to provide him and all the other little ones with the stimulation and enrichment they so desperately need. won't someone please think of the baby chimps?!?
Dollyo Chagi Unfortunately, IMO, this place is there for one reason and one reason ONLY - money. Its a shame because those animals deserve SO, SO much better than some "road side" market type zoo, left in small cages and on chains all day. They take "donations" for walking the babies around, having the older chimp in jean shorts do tricks, and to just 'be'. If they were somewhere more developed with better laws and law enforcement, they'd be shut down in a heart beat and those animals put into proper rehabilitation programs. Sadly though, that will never be. Those animals and all the future inhabitants of that hell are doomed to that terrible fate. I hate to think about what happens to those babies when they grow up, as older apes don't get the attention that babies do. Granted, they appear clean and well fed, but THAT'S IT! You said it all in your comment and it sickens me that this place and I'm sure many others exist at all. I do my damnedest to NOT visit their page, but for some reason I did today. I regret it and cannot watch another minute. That poor guy in the shorts begs for attention, you can see there's a personality in there, a brain and a yearning for more... anything more than his own personal hell. These chimps have been poached and smuggled from Africa to this country as they are not native to Asia. Hopefully they were confiscated.

He doesn't belong in this environment, however he's a juvenile chimpanzee, which means that he is 5× the strength of the average person, sadly this means that it would be extremely dangerous to let him loose. He belongs in a sanctuary with his own kind.

These young chimps have been stolen from their mothers..to be used as paid photo props in this zoo..so tourists can pay to have photos taken with them. That is why the short chain for the juvenile chimp..for photos and to prevent escape..of course. Very cruel!!

Denise Brashears to me the onsie would be good to keep the diaper on if the baby isn’t allowed to be with it mom outside. That would be the only possible reason I could understand that one. There’s nothing cute about captive wild animals yes they are absolutely gorgeous but they need to be in the wild unless they got it captive and are going to try to rehabilitate it for the wild but in this case it doesn’t seem that way

Heart breaking,..you can clearly see the older chimp getting more and more anxious the longer the woman was holding the baby and this shows just important interaction their own kind is to them, also look how the older chimp is making himself a natural barrier between the baby and humans, it just shows that even tho the older is still a baby he still instinctively knows what's best for baby,....so upsetting especially when you realise the older chimps is more than aware he is chained and he wants it gone
You don’t know what you’re talking about lady. The older chimp simply wants to hold the baby because she is a female chimp. She is acting on her instincts and that’s all it is. When female chimps hit adolescence they become super interested in infants. It happens in the wild too. Maybe you should actually know what your talking about before you spout out BS. It’s just a adolescent female chimp wanting to hold a infant. It’s instinctive. You reading into it way too much.
I noticed that chain was too short, too. I get they must chain them or they'd run wild, but give them more length to move about like chimps do! Expecially w/a baby. Keep a close eye on them, maybe separate from others who may harm but that chain was about a foot or foot & 1/2 in length. Poor thing. (The Loyola Bonobo Sanctuary never chains their apes. They roam freely & are sweethearts)
There must be a reason this guy is chained even tho you see they care very much about their chimps. But he needs more length & I wish a leash or something other than a CHAIN!

BLWN GT 1 I thought that was probably the case as I've seen other videos with adult orangs and chimps that have younger ones n the cages with them. People always assumed the babies were being illegally trafficked from the jungles in Africa but I couldn't understand why when they've got a whole troop they could breed. It kind of looks as if they are training this bigger one to care for a baby so perhaps they plan to move it into their breeding colony who knows It's really not for me to judge honestly because that's a different country with different laws and cultural norms. Right or wrong If they aren't members of the CITES treaty banning them from breeding then they can do as they wish with their chimps if I understand correctly.

i don't for the life of me understand why the zoo staff doesn't play with the really little ones, like the one in this video. babies are used to getting constant attention from their mothers. at least the older chimp seems to understand that the baby needs to be held. but that's not enough. if you're going to have a tiny chimp like this, you've got to give it a lot of physical contact. what they are doing is just not fair to the little imp.
there are so many fun games you can play with a tiny chimp. repeatedly toss it up in the air and catch it, going higher and higher each time. tying it to a helium balloon and letting children swat at it with whiffle bats as it helplessly floats around like a pinata. tickling it until it passes out. playing "catch" with a friend by tossing the chimp back and forth like it was a basketball while it squeals in protest. waiting until it's fast asleep then pick it up gently -- being careful not to wake it -- and dropping it into a bucket full of freezing ice water. locking it up by itself in a very scary haunted house for a couple of hours. give it a yummy treat, let it enjoy it for a minute, and then suddenly start yelling at it and blaring an air horn as you chase the screaming little chimp around the room.
there's really no limit to the number of fun adventures i'd come up with for this tiny little imp if i was working there. he would never get bored! quite the contrary: he'd probably constantly be alert and on guard for the next terrifying game, nervously rocking himself back and forth in a pitiful attempt to try to comfort himself. please, please, I hope someone working there will read this post and be inspired to provide him and all the other little ones with the stimulation and enrichment they so desperately need. won't someone please think of the baby chimps?!?
Dollyo Chagi Unfortunately, IMO, this place is there for one reason and one reason ONLY - money. Its a shame because those animals deserve SO, SO much better than some "road side" market type zoo, left in small cages and on chains all day. They take "donations" for walking the babies around, having the older chimp in jean shorts do tricks, and to just 'be'. If they were somewhere more developed with better laws and law enforcement, they'd be shut down in a heart beat and those animals put into proper rehabilitation programs. Sadly though, that will never be. Those animals and all the future inhabitants of that hell are doomed to that terrible fate. I hate to think about what happens to those babies when they grow up, as older apes don't get the attention that babies do. Granted, they appear clean and well fed, but THAT'S IT! You said it all in your comment and it sickens me that this place and I'm sure many others exist at all. I do my damnedest to NOT visit their page, but for some reason I did today. I regret it and cannot watch another minute. That poor guy in the shorts begs for attention, you can see there's a personality in there, a brain and a yearning for more... anything more than his own personal hell. Anyway, I could go on and on about this place, but I won't. This is not the place, nor is you comment the place for one of my novel sized rants. Thanks for your comment.
