- Raising kids as Muslims in today’s world is no easy feat. We are constantly dealing with negative portrayals of Muslims in the media, and sometimes, even within our own communities. But how can we overcome these challenges, and use them as opportunities to truly teach kids to love Islam, and pride themselves for their Muslim identity? How can we our educational institutions foster and help empower the Muslim identity in Muslim kids - or can it? Hina Mirza joins us to discuss this very interesting topic.

*There are countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and many in Africa Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, East Africa there are many Muslim's in East of Africa we even have a Turkish school. In Middle east like Oman, Qatar, e.t.c where someone can shift and live better. Possibilities are there but it depends with you. The problem with our Islamic Ummah they feel living in Europe is the best option only for them and their children to speak English with good accent. Many parents don't appreciate a Teacher who is a Non Native English speaker yet they teach with all their hearts but I heard many parents saying a White Teacher is the best for their children. We are not united and we keep down our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters who are Teachers. Now people have to face the fruit they said it was better than the other!*
I feel like she is using "equality" incorrectly... I feel like Islam promotes equality between sexes but not sameness. So we are equal in value, but we are DIFFERENT. Equal but different. Equal in value, but different in some of our roles in society. I think making sure the language is used in a way that really accurately depicts the true and equal value given to both men and women in Islam, by God (the Exalted) needs to be emphasized. Like for example a female has A, B and C, and a Male has D, E and F. We each have our own special tasks/responsibilities. At the same time, on the day of judgement, we will be judged in the same ways. I just really feel like Islam doesn't promote an idea of inequality, but of difference.
I think you mean equity not equality
You are true but many Muslims don't even understand the difference
Did she not say that tho? We aren't the same. We're spiritually equal but ofc we have differences, feminine side(having baby, taking care of the baby/feeding it, etc) and the masculine side(working, protecting, paying, etc). I feel like she said something like that, indicating that only girls can have babies and so on. Allah Azzawajal knows best.
Oh wowwww mashallah I love her response to the story they taught her daughter about "gender eguality" I'm so impressed at her approach mashallah. May allah give me and all the mothers out there in the world the knowledge and imaan to approach our children in a way allah will be pleased and solidify truth and convey the word of islam to our children ameeeeeen thuma ameeeen
Allah*
Loved this vid! I hope i can handle this as well as her. I really liked how she explained this kind of subjects to her kid.
very informative....thanks~
Informative
Thanks for the video, very nicely put together and simple to understand. It should not offend anyone since it is all common sense and the commentator did not force her opinion on anyone but guided us as to how to tackle some of the issues faced by not only muslims but all concerned parents. If someone tries to put her or Islam down, the only thing we should do is, pray for them and hope they can also see the light. Please don't bring the religion in discussion, and once again this lecture was all about common sense.
Well said😊
Masha Allah
O you who have attained to faith! Be patient in adversity, and vie in patience with one another, and be ever ready [to do what is right], and remain conscious of God, so that you might attain to a happy state!

I think the sister is a bit off. Islam DOES support gender equality, just not Gender sameness. Men and women are equal However they have different roles
Allahuma barik laha
KJ forgot to mention the 1998 pilgrimage Haj Mecca . A great sight seeing tour. One morning i was making excuses and had a lie in (extra sleep) while super energy orange beard and group went to pray at the Kaaba, but apparently there was some robbers breaking in the apartments and when they reached ours they found me sleeping snoring away. When the group came back from prayer there was panic until they found the money safe then said ' Praise Allah you saved Us' KJ reflecting back, what did i do?
Buit didn't Allah send the robbers ? Nothing happens without the consent of Allah. The group should have been cursing Allah instead of praising him, that makes more sense.

Assalam Aleikum we should always be concerned about what our children are reading or doing in school. We should be concerned about them even being able to get out the car and go in the school safely for that matter. Its 2020 all kinds of things be happening. I like the video. JazakAllah

Well said. Very informative and educational. Nice to see a young, educated and professional Muslim woman with these views. MarshAllah! Let's share this widely.
so how do you see integration evolving between muslims and non muslims when the separation of islam is so firmly indoctrinated ? I see religion as abuse!
it says in the qurran that you should not take a non believer as a close friend as you will surely become one of them and Allah will have nothing to do with you! Not the best advert for friendship!
the child needs to be careful that a muslim man does not 'thighing' all over her legs while her mum holds her down
v nice

Beautiful and informative talk......God Bless!
I followed in individual path not related to specific teaching, that's what makes us unique. From your family on wards.
Masha Allah fantastic talk may Allah always help and guide you sister.
4 :00 - phe - men - ist do try to put others including husband and kids own for themself esp. property and image.
Quran 4 : 32. And wish not for the things in which Allah has made some of you to excel others. For men there is reward for what they have earned, (and likewise) for Nisa there is reward for what they have earned, and ask Allah of His Bounty. Surely, Allah is Ever All-Knower of everything.
Raising children in the West the islamic values is difficult
Thts why islam said men n women r equal bt nt same..the west generally misundrstood this verse
I am Christian and my husband is Muslim. We agreed our child will be raised Muslim. Since I stay home with them I will be responsible for teaching them most of their faith. But we disagree on whether or not our daughter should wear the hijab. I want it to be her choice while my husband says she must wear it. What should I do?
Honor and obey ur husband just like the oath u took before God. Ur daughter can't follow ur lead, if u don't follow ur husband's.... you shouldn't give ur child too many choices because its a child and they don't know better than adults.
Parents- I work in an Islamic school--- NO. DON'T DO IT. The kids here are so confused about their religion and the Islamic Studies and Arabic programs are a joke. Become sufficiently knowledgeable in the religion and home-school them. Or bring them to an Islamic country in a pious sector of the population.
I hear too many stories about lots of people saying they went to islamic school and left islam :/
100%
It's a Muslim school... With more regard for the western based curriculum
Nah. I put my kids through islamic schools, and today everyone praises my kids in front of my face to say they are well mannered, well raised.
Secular Humanism if FAR SUPERIOR than ANY RELIGIOUS NONSENSE.
Our family celebrated yarvi every month inviting local friends where mother cooked the meals, father sings Naats and preached Koran to local children. But i am not the son of a preacher man but a military air-force man. KJ in fact I hardly ever go to mosque and mix with community making jokes and having fun all the way. Agnostic
The only reason you are capable of expressing your opinion and ideas freely is that because you live in a non-islamic country or a secular state. Let that sink with your islamic identity that you glorify every chance you get.
Have you ever heard Indonesia? smh
Their Muslim values come first, and it seems that they have issues with the Canadian values. So please Canada ship them back to a country where they can embody their Islamic values. So many other immigrants from other religions would love to be a Canadian and accept Canadian values.
matt matt Muslim states were the first to implement your values "freedom of expression" centuries earlier while your people were burning 'witches'. Secularism has nothing to do with it, it's geopolitics that is ruining the Muslim world. Once this blip is over your fun goes with it. We'll go back to our lands and come back as conquerors
Travel. You will be better off for it.
Muslims lack parenting skills. I have witnessed this for 15+ years. Currently I have Muslim neighbors with several small children. Bed time is a struggle and the ear piercing shrieks go on from 6pm to 2am every night. Instead of comforting and loving their children they let them run wild and then scream and yell at them. No structure no compassion. Very painful to hear. Turn down the lights, turn off the tv read a bed time story while having a snack or something to drink. Hug kiss go to sleep. I know toddlers can be difficult but they only turn into monsters when they do not get the love and discipline they need. Letting your kid scream for 8 hours straight and then allowing the older kids to bully the younger ones is despicable.
She should have gone into detail about what are the "specific roles" that a woman "has" to fulfil and why...
women are women's worst enemies... lol
mssummerrose1 Most converts are women. Read about the role and high status of a women in Islam. U are fighting for ur basic rights while we are enjoying more of it since 1440 years ago. What is god given cannot ever be better than what flawed humans thinks is good for them. This battle of the sexes that u guys have going on is put at rest 1400 years ago by Islam. We love our men and they love their women, we enjoy our rights given by the creator to us for freedom to education, to marry, to divorce, to earn our own earnings, to never spend on a household but be cared for first by our fathers and brothers and then by our loving husbands, to be respected and given high status from our role as mothers and caretakers of our kids, we have a right to inheritance again that money becomes all ours with nothing to be spent on a household expenditure as that is the part where the man is responsible for. Men and women are equal in Islam in the sight of Allah, we are ranked based on our good deeds. We are different in our physique as each has his role in this world.
Throwing homosexuals off roofs?
Q. Why not avoid all these issues and move to an Islamic country?
A. Because they're not as good as non-Muslim countries. (But let's not talk about that because that's racist and bigoted and intolerant and prejudisced and not really fair.)
yes i thought so too, then again i thought the british ruled india for 200yrs, (ruled , not stayed) the french : algeria, vietnam so some balance? Right?
Wrong answer. The correct answer is that many of the Muslim countries have been destroyed by invasions of America and NATO and many are now not habitable for Muslims like Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq etc and then there are countries like Palestine which has been invaded and illegally occupied so now those Muslims have no choice to go anywhere except take the land of the inavders...
They don't live there because your beloved NATO and isarel have destroyed so many Muslim countries. And installed their puppet gorverments who never runs the country with transparency and with unity . As a result many Muslim countries don't reach the full potential and are always under developed .

White People BEG to live in oil rich muslim countries. Too bad they do not issue permanent visas.
If you want to help your children, teach them no religion
KemAMP : Spot on. Do not handicap your children by exposing them to religion on a young age.
They will believe everything an adult tells them. Give them a fair chance and wait untill they have reached an age on which they can distinguish fiction and reality. (say 18 years).
Then teach them about ALL religions; not only the religion their parents, by the merest chance, were born into.
If then they want to embrace one of these religions, there is no blame on the parents.
No religion, apart from atheist illogicality, is a perfect dose to destroy a society.
Kemamp : to you religion is not important, but to us Muslims religion is the top most important thing in our life . Because we do everything to make God happy . We believe in after life and all in the prophets and Revelations . We believe in Jesus and Moses . But sadly people like you have forgot the purpose of your life . You forgot your creator , your whole life is meaningless sir . You will realize everything that I'm talking about is true when you are dead but that will be too late dear. There is a God and we live for Him . We live with hope , hope of paradise and meet God . And that's ultimate peace and purpose which you guys will never ever understand.
@@pedigree910 when you play a game, why should you play in the way which makes the game designer happy?
This video is intensely anti-woman.
It's pro-women. She is talking about how women actually have a positive role to play in a household.
