The 5500 is honestly the most underrated cpu for people who are willing to tinker and OC to get even better performance per dollar. The 5500 is monolithic and not chiplet so the infinity fabric can actually go fast enough it compensates for the lack of l3 cache. Doing 4733 cl18/20 is pretty doable on a cheap used crucial ballistx 3200/3600 kit with a decent b550 board.

@@TrulyAnimeKing depends on the setting I have on, but I used to only have the igpu inside of it, and it would get about 140-170 on performance mode, sometimes it could drop down to like 90, but now I have a real gpu to go with it and it gets about 200-250, if your looking to get a new pc, please try to get on am5 platform, like the Ryzen 5 7600, trust me it will be worth it man

Agreed. I recently upgraded my CPU from R5 1600(Non-AF) to R5 5600 and man oh man the performance jump is night and day. I was using B450F gaming with Zotac 3060TI. I bought the OEM pre-used(no cooler) for $75 from a neighbor.
Shocked the Ryzen 5 3600 wasn’t on here honestly. I know they had some issues a while back but it’s a pretty good super budget cpu that I pair with my 1080p cards Edit: ever since Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update, my cpu was struggling to keep up with my card. The new crowd ai is extremely taxing so I upgraded to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D
The Ryzen 3600 is also a very good budget processor, but since both cards currently have the same price point at $90 the 5500 cancels it out since it's ever so slightly faster in all categories... about 10%.
The hype on the 5600 was so huge where I live, that I actually bought a 5700X for the same price as the 5600, so it was worth it (I already had a Noctua NH-U12S cooler)

@@TheTryingDutchman if we’re talking 1440p, the 5700x should be enough for the most part. You will definitely notice a medium cpu bottleneck at times in new triple a games. The 5800X3D would be more suitable in those cases. But just wondering, what is your psu?

But yeah ill probably end up tearing it all down for a more beefy psu soon, though i dont feel like it, hence the effort i took to keep the wattage down haha
The 5600G is just the GOAT... THE GOAT. Save me huge on the GPU and did really good with games. Then, when I had enough for one it was just a big experience. Definetly a really good APU.
Last month I purchased a brand new 4600G, cooler included. The 5600G costs 33% more here. I paired it with an 3060 12GB and I'm more than happy. I was looking for an i5-10400f but the 4600G was cheaper and seems to be a tad more potent.-

I recommend getting a aftermarket cooler like the ag400 deepcool.. the stock cooler is fine but loud and even a cheap tower cooler will drop temps by 10c.. also you’ll want dual channel ram at 3200mhz at least 16 gigs .. if you plan on have a lot of stuff running try 32gigs the cpu isn’t limited here
Went with the ryzen 5600 here in December 2022, in Sweden it was around 170$ or 1790 sek but saved money getting a used B450 tomahawk max motherboard for 85$ or 850 sek earlier in the summer, then ram for 65$ + cpu cooler adapter for my noctua nh-u12p se2 i got for free with my previous motherboard & I5 2500 non k cpu. The B450 tomahawk max supports cpu free bios updates & with my gpu being the 1660 super for a while longer i think i made a solid choice. Motherboard has pretty much 0.1 - 0.3% difference in performance for a lower power cpu like this which is basically counting as margin of error run too run in benchmarks. Specially upgrading from an I5 2500k at 4.5 ghz with a motherboard that probably was slowly dying as onboard audio is already dead on that board & i had some front usb issues. (Had this 1155 setup since 2017 with the I5 2500k bought in March 2021 too coax a few more fps out of the system.) The ryzen 5600 is 0.2 ghz slower on boost clock speeds vs the 5600x but the price difference doesn't make the 5600x worth it at all. Specially if you are already chasing maximum fps with plenty of budget too do so. Which at that point you might as well look towards AM5 instead if you can spend like Ryzen 5800X3D money on a cpu for maximum fps while not having started a build yet.
i have a 12100f with a rx6800xt an a 1440p monitor and in most games with ultra setting my gpu is 99% and if you add on the ray tracing then my pc is always gpu bottlenecked (my monitor refresh rate is 165 and i have v-sync on all the time) it shows how powerful 4 core is for gaming
Offered 2 choices on my local pc store, an r5 5600 for around $142 and r5 5600x around $153 (Im from Indonesia). No brainer choice, went for 5600x and havent regrets it since

Have a ryzen 3600 in my system from 2-3 years ago with 2 months old Rx6800 its probably bottlenecked but still i dont fell the CPU being slow or anything and everything runs perfectly in 1440P 120fps high settings . Probably will keep it until the AM5 components drop in price a bit more like the MOBOs and than upgrade it to a new platform .

I am sitting in front of an Ryzen 5 5600 paired with an Radeon RX 6650 XT on an ASUS TUF B550M motherboard. Probably one of the best bang for the buck combinations available.
They are both good CPUs. I have also a gaming PC with a Core I5-13400 paired with a RX 7700 XT and it works very well. The B760 mainboards are often better than B550.
The 5500 is very underrated, yes the i3 beats it but the price diff including mobo and ram is not worth it. It has a lot of oc headroom and supports SAM.
most of the am4 motherboards that cost less than 80 need bios updates, so the cheapest one you can use out the box is like 80ish dollars 12100f motherboards are around that price, and the 12100f is like 20 bucks cheaper
Perfectly timed review as I wanti to upgrade my Ryzen 3600 bought secondhand 2yrs ago. I'm building a new pc and I'm conflicted whether I should make a heavy investment on i5-13500 or go with a cheaper ryzen 5 5600. I'll mostly be playing games on it and doing some 3d modelling with Blender
Upgrading from 2700x to 5700x using 3070ti mainly because I wasn't keen to spend around $1500 (AUD) on a new Mini ITX build and instead just wanted to get 2-3 more years of life out of my current hardware before I relegate it as a secondary PC. Pricing at the moment in Australia is $275 for the 55700x and $188 for the 5600... so it's hard to justify the extra $100 for 2 cores, but knowing the AM4 is finished in it's lifecycle, and knowing I don't need to touch any of the other components until my next refresh to DDR5 , I'll probably benefit from the extra cores from some editing / creative workloads when they happen.
4 months on, the pc is crushing it for both gaming (F1 23, Starfield, WRC, Assasains Creed) and music prodction workflows.Was surprised how much of a positive impact on FPS a new CPU has saving me the new build. Definitely worth it @@justmatt2655
I have one ordered as an upgrade to my MSI B-760 DDR4 with 12100F.... Decided that the UHD 770 was also a bonus in case I decide to run it without a PCIE GPU as a workstation only...should serve my needs for years to come easily....
5700g and 5600g use a monolithic design and therefore don’t have some of the latency drawbacks of amd due to like the infinity fabric. Many people would rather have a 5700g than a 5800x in fact.
A bit late but an oced 5700g with b die ram will be better than a 5800x it has more headroom and is cheaper. Also, it will have lower memory latency when ocing

3600 is available in abundance here, brand new, for 78€, nothing comes close in price. If you're going to talk about budget CPUs for gaming why not include that? You can actually get used ones for as little as 40€ ... I feel that this video could really benefit from considering used products, maybe make a second part, followup, you really don't need 5000 series if you're on a 1660 or 6600, save that cash for food/rent, buy a beer or pizza, gonna do u more good than the few% performance boost from having 5000 series, you literally won't be able to tell the difference except running benchmarks, if you're on a budget I really doubt your a record chasing overclocker 😊

Ryzen 3 3300x goat I was short in money and upgraded everything in my pc 4060, b550, 32ram, except cpu Cpu was next. But still never lag and reached 100% in multiple games opened at the same time in my pc.
Bought the 5600 as soon as my B350 MoBo got BIOS support for it in June-22 at $154 with today's currecy rate. (including 1 month gamepass) I was considering the 12100F at $77 + a b660 at $80 and also the 5500 at $115, but the extra cache on the 5600 is nice to have, still no PCIE 4.0 due to the MoBo, but B550's are just too expensive.

Hi, why do you keep mentioning pcie 3.0 and 4.0 as a way to measure a cpu's gaming capability since it doesn't really impact gaming all that much, even in terms of bottlenecking GPUs as it's only a few percent. Thanks for answering.

IMO number 1. Vega 7 in 5600g is not that different in term of power compared to your GT1030 and the 12100f is overall better gaming CPU compared to 5600g while being cheaper
im currently rocking a 2600X with a 1660S and im fine with that i mainly play Destiny 2 and it runs at 100+Fps in high settings with 1080p. cant complain

Those ryzen 5s will last a lot longer and are more well-rounded CPUs. I wouldn't even go near those i3 processors. If you have a micro center near you, just grab the R5 5600 for 130. No brainer.

L3 cache of 32mb is giving the cpu good for gaming, using 5600 + a520 ds3h and rx580, i am not asking for more, giving me a good fps, I am just playing world of warships and some offline game, more on editting

The 3600 is at an elite value rn a 3600 and gigabyte b450m Wi-Fi for just $130 at microcenter I just built my grandpa (yes my 70 yo grandpa) a build with a 3600 b450m Wi-Fi, 16gb, 1tb nvme, rtx 3050 (for the 4k upscaling cause he is using it as a media pc), evga 80+ bronze 650w, and Lian li case all brand new expect ram as oven box for 537 before tax (582 after).
Just ordered the 5600, for 136 euros with shipping, which seems decent considering a 25% sales tax/vat we have here. Will do fine on my b450 mobo. Considered the 5700x but it costs 220 euros so the difference was almost 100.
There was a prototype Nvidia CPU way back in the day. I remember it, Cause I seen some prototype stuff over the years. Days of me getting prototype stuff was pre covid.

The low cache size will definitely hamper gaming performance. I say this as a long time 3400g user.

I have an i3 12100f with a 6700 XT. Running a 144hz monitor at 1440p and its does amazingly. Huge upgrade over my i5 7400.

The memory controller is better in the 5000 serie and you can see it.
If you factor motherboard Intel I3 12100F with B660 is still more expensive than Ryzen 5 5500 with B550 so Ryzen 5 5500 is still the King for budget.

Owner of Ryzen 5 5600x with GTX 1660 TI. Getting between 60- 65 FPS on all games on high/ultra settings 1080p.
I am sitting in front of an Ryzen 5 5600 paired with an Radeon RX 6650 XT on an ASUS TUF B550M motherboard. Probably one of the best bang for the buck combinations available.
Do you recommend get that R5 over the Core i5-12400F? I want to upgrade my i7-6700 and i'm doing my research over the best budget choice.
They are both good CPUs. I have also a gaming PC with a Core I5-13400 paired with a RX 7700 XT and it works very well. The B760 mainboards are often better than B550.
The 5500 is very underrated, yes the i3 beats it but the price diff including mobo and ram is not worth it. It has a lot of oc headroom and supports SAM.
most of the am4 motherboards that cost less than 80 need bios updates, so the cheapest one you can use out the box is like 80ish dollars
12100f motherboards are around that price, and the 12100f is like 20 bucks cheaper

Ryzen 4500 is essentially a 4600G but with its iGPU disabled hence the lower performance than standard Zen 2 CPUs
Perfectly timed review as I wanti to upgrade my Ryzen 3600 bought secondhand 2yrs ago. Pairing with my RX6700XT / B450 ready for when I upgrade to 4k tv. 2years ago reviews implyed Ryzen 5600 not worth upgrading but now prices low makes sense until AM5 becomes more accessible. Upgrading from 2700x to 5700x using 3070ti mainly because I wasn't keen to spend around $1500 (AUD) on a new Mini ITX build and instead just wanted to get 2-3 more years of life out of my current hardware before I relegate it as a secondary PC. Pricing at the moment in Australia is $275 for the 55700x and $188 for the 5600... so it's hard to justify the extra $100 for 2 cores, but knowing the AM4 is finished in it's lifecycle, and knowing I don't need to touch any of the other components until my next refresh to DDR5 , I'll probably benefit from the extra cores from some editing / creative workloads when they happen.
That's weird, here in the uk the 5700x is only £20 more than a 5600x so it's a really good deal!
4 months on, the pc is crushing it for both gaming (F1 23, Starfield, WRC, Assasains Creed) and music prodction workflows.Was surprised how much of a positive impact on FPS a new CPU has saving me the new build. Definitely worth it @@justmatt2655

I have one ordered as an upgrade to my MSI B-760 DDR4 with 12100F.... Decided that the UHD 770 was also a bonus in case I decide to run it without a PCIE GPU as a workstation only...should serve my needs for years to come easily....
5700g and 5600g use a monolithic design and therefore don’t have some of the latency drawbacks of amd due to like the infinity fabric. Many people would rather have a 5700g than a 5800x in fact.

A bit late but an oced 5700g with b die ram will be better than a 5800x it has more headroom and is cheaper. Also, it will have lower memory latency when ocing

3600 is available in abundance here, brand new, for 78€, nothing comes close in price. If you're going to talk about budget CPUs for gaming why not include that? You can actually get used ones for as little as 40€ ... I feel that this video could really benefit from considering used products, maybe make a second part, followup, you really don't need 5000 series if you're on a 1660 or 6600, save that cash for food/rent, buy a beer or pizza, gonna do u more good than the few% performance boost from having 5000 series, you literally won't be able to tell the difference except running benchmarks, if you're on a budget I really doubt your a record chasing overclocker 😊

Bought the 5600 as soon as my B350 MoBo got BIOS support for it in June-22 at $154 with today's currecy rate. (including 1 month gamepass)
I was considering the 12100F at $77 + a b660 at $80 and also the 5500 at $115, but the extra cache on the 5600 is nice to have, still no PCIE 4.0 due to the MoBo, but B550's are just too expensive.

Hi, why do you keep mentioning pcie 3.0 and 4.0 as a way to measure a cpu's gaming capability since it doesn't really impact gaming all that much, even in terms of bottlenecking GPUs as it's only a few percent. Thanks for answering.

IMO number 1. Vega 7 in 5600g is not that different in term of power compared to your GT1030 and the 12100f is overall better gaming CPU compared to 5600g while being cheaper
im currently rocking a 2600X with a 1660S and im fine with that i mainly play Destiny 2 and it runs at 100+Fps in high settings with 1080p. cant complain

Neither are outstanding imo. I'd spend more with one that has a 4070 or a 6800/6800XT/7800XT.
But if you could only choose one of the two?
Those ryzen 5s will last a lot longer and are more well-rounded CPUs. I wouldn't even go near those i3 processors. If you have a micro center near you, just grab the R5 5600 for 130. No brainer.

L3 cache of 32mb is giving the cpu good for gaming, using 5600 + a520 ds3h and rx580, i am not asking for more, giving me a good fps, I am just playing world of warships and some offline game, more on editting
the 4500 has similar performance to an i3 10100 but on a better platform. i wouldn’t say it’s the greatest but it’s not terrible.
You may as well get a better used cpu for that sort of money though, it never seems to justify itself

This is my dilemma, used 3600 is more on average than a 4500.
Still using my A8 processor setup,and just bought a brandnew board for it. And also bought a miners rx 580 just to feel the difference after using its apu for decades. Just thinking what will be a better upgrade.

The 3600 is at an elite value rn a 3600 and gigabyte b450m Wi-Fi for just $130 at microcenter I just built my grandpa (yes my 70 yo grandpa) a build with a 3600 b450m Wi-Fi, 16gb, 1tb nvme, rtx 3050 (for the 4k upscaling cause he is using it as a media pc), evga 80+ bronze 650w, and Lian li case all brand new expect ram as oven box for 537 before tax (582 after).
i got 3300x still plays all games at 60 fps or more
