What Made Survivor Series 2005 So Awesome?

- Survivor Series 2005 is an all time great PPV in my opinion. Maybe it’s the nostalgia or whatever but I love his PPV. How could you have not been hyped for the first ever Smackdown vs RAW Elimination tag match? This was a special night. Then you add in Triple H and Flair and Cena vs Angle? It was lit. So lets go back to 2005 and take a look at this PPV.

Ric Flair vs. Triple H
WWE Heavyweight Title Match (Special Referee: Daivari)
John Cena (c) vs. Kurt Angle
Survivor Series Elimination Match
Team RAW (Carlito, Chris Masters, Kane, Shawn Michaels & The Big Show) vs. Team SmackDown (Batista, John Bradshaw Layfield, Lashley, Randy Orton & Rey Mysterio) (w/Bob Orton & Jillian Hall) - Sport

Honestly I can’t be the only one who’s always preferred smackdown
Bulls Fan 69 you’re not.
I did
Facts man, the show just felt different
When I was a kid, I was a Smackdown guy, thanks to Eddie.
Honestly only time I can really remember raw having the sauce over smackdown was during the punk/cena feud and Ambrose/ Rollins first feud
Can we acknowledge Undertaker's full beard?
it was awesome !!
Shit was fire
That was so fucking sick!
THIS IS WHAT I THOUGHT. Didn’t expect to see a comment on it
Thought I was the only one that wish he kept it
Finally someone acknowledged survivor series 2005
One of my favorite ppvs of all time. The 5 on 5 and Last Man Standing matches are Undisputed classics.
I want OSW to cover the Ruthless Aggression Era so bad LOL.
The Raw v Smackdown Survivor Series match is an all-time classic with both announce teams bickering like crazy and as usual, Randy Orton scored his third consecutive win in a Survivor Series match...only to be spooked by a royally pissed off Undertaker who came back after Orton backed him near the titantron using Eddie Guerrero's lowrider
Bout time
@@christianjohnsjohns8723 Glad to see another brah here :D! The Orton-Taker storyline would be interesting to see.
WWE: Ric, we need 27mins out of you tonight.

It is stuff from the past tho lol
hard to do that nowadays when u hate everything wwe lmao
@@heavyhitter5538 WWE is not as good as it was especially with pro wrestling's popularity declining, listening to people with the same complaints over and over and over again is becoming redundant and sometimes just gets too much like some people wishing Vince should just die. I remember back then some people use constructive criticism but nowadays, it's more like losers trying to sound cool and edgy on the internet for something that is meant for entertainment, meaning fi you're not entertained, why not just grab the remote and switch channels and if you're gonna give your grievances on the product, make it sensible and not just something to fish for likes.
Remember back then we had a Survivor Series tradition in my household. We made a big BBQ Party, Beer, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Hot Wings and watched Survivor Series 2005 in the backyard with a Movie Projector connected to the Cable Box.
We used to do that for all the big WWE PPVs. We still do it for some MMA or boxing events but the last one we did was McGregor and Mayweather.

I remember RAW vs. Smackdown 2005.. my whole entire family were talking about it and brought the whole family together every show.
The only time SmackDown vs Raw truly felt like a war between the two brands. Two strong GMs, two brands with great top stars and lockerroom leaders as world champions. Plus the final chapter of Evolution with Triple H vs Ric Flair in a vicious gimmick match, last man standing to be precise. And one of the best storylines of all times, Undertaker vs Randy Orton, with that awesome comeback moment from a burning casket after Randy set Undertaker on fire in one at No Mercy.
That was WWE storytelling at it's absolute finest! If only that kind of consistency and brutality could make its way back into today's product.

Imagine if Lesnar wouldn't have left wwe and Eddie didn't pass away, the SmackDown! Team at The SS '05 would be:
-Batista
-Brock Lesnar
-Eddie Guerrero
-Randy Orton
-Rey Mysterio or JBL
Batista probably wouldn't get pushed if Brock stayed
If Trips was still champ, that would be their very first televised encounter
Brock will hit Eddie what Goldberg help underdog win the title
high as a muthafucka Batista probably would’ve still got that push especially cause he was in Evolution. JBL on the other hand would’ve never got that main event push they probably would’ve had him in the US title picture.
Thing is only reason Randy was on the team was because of Eddie's death. Eddie was originally on the team not Orton.

Hope you feel better and sure why not. I actually want to see an Armageddon 2005 video like barely anyone talks about that ppv and honestly it has a very good underrated Hell in a Cell match between Undertaker vs Randy Orton
Yeahhh
Get well soon
Randy Orton being surprised by the Undertaker was the first screamer I've ever watched on CZcams back in the day in 2007 or 2008 I think. That mofucker actually put the girl from the Exorcist right after the Undertaker kicks out the casket.
And Poor Orton Gets His Ass Clapped By Undertaker LOL
Anyone else remember being 7 years old thinking for months The Undertaker was dead?🤣
I thought undertaker dead for 10 years
I thought he was dead until I was 9 tbh.
Legit, every time The Undertaker disappeared when I was a kid, I legit thought somebody killed him😂.
Happened in 1994 also. Lol
I love Shawn Michaels, my favourite wrestler of all time. But Smackdown had always had that spark, there was just something about it. It seemed like it always had the better talent.
I liked Smackdown because they always took you in before Raw whenever you played a Career mode in the video games.
@@senseispud2197 Facts, and it always felt more mobile than Raw, more opportunities etc.
This one is so sad for me. Because my man Eddie Guerrero had just died
Triple H vs Ric Flair was a VERY underrated match man, good storytelling and drama
I forgot.all about it. Thee cage match was Crazy
Yup. Both matches were great
From 2002 to 2005 the brand split was legit and it was awesome, after that WWECW was added Eric Bischoff and Heyman were out of the company and the brand split went to shit.
The brand spilt still worked well in 2006, I wasn’t until early 2007 when the brand spilt started going to shit

16:54 At that moment I wondered did Kane & Edge put their differences aside for the love of their brand. Especially when no one was pointing out that those 2 had a deadly feud over Lita just about 5 months earlier 😂😂😂
Edge wasn't even in the match tho he was injured briefly
Funny story about this show. So this show was in Detroit where I lived and I was like 8. Weeks before anything was announced and before they were doing the qualifying matches for the teams, a local commercial popped up and showed all the participants in the match (this was before Eddie had passed so he was in it) and me thinking wrestling was still real and always live it had me super fucked up lol.
Lol at Flair “living his best life” in 2005 as IC Champ 😂
Flair Had Actually Asked Undertaker If He Wanted To Be The Intercontinental Champion Undertaker Said "That's The Only Fucking Thing That's Stopping Me From Getting A Grand Slam Ric"
@@futuregohan4837 he doesn’t want a grand slam
Eddie vs Shawn rivalry would have started that day.... In fact, it was gonna build up to Wrestlemania 22. Every time I here about Guerrero, I remember the good times and then feel sad.
I was a Smackdown guy thanks to him. He introduced me to WWE during his championship reign.
But, still the Pay Per View back then, was fucking lit and I was rooting for Smackdown to win.
Speaking of Smackdown vs Raw, remember that time after the 04 draft on Raw, when Trips was "drafted to Smackdown" after he and Eddie had a match at the main event, Smackdown and Raw lockerroom came out and started brawling...
Was that a tease for this or were they suppose to have it last year?
That Nas is Like instrumental at the intro great video once again team Smackdown since 99 ftw

So was WrestleMania
Good healthy competition is what wrestling lacks in 2019

ImInfinite MidWest aew is trash no storylines just bland and lackluster..... garbage 🚮
The buildup to a great SD vs Raw match, HHH/Flair LMS, Orton completed the "3 peat" and Taker's legendary return made this 2005 edition a fun show. Also keep grinding bro

This series is so good man. It’s making me nostalgic for childhood moments I had almost let go of. Truly thank you 🙏
Anarch Rex nonono thank you for watching bro🙏🏼
Just watched this entire storyline on wwe network. Cool to see you narrating it yourself. Keep up the good work, love your channel.
Damn That triple h and ric flair match was as long as this video
Now I feel like a idiot because I used to prefer Raw
Lol there's nothing wrong with that. You liked what you liked. It's not like it's sacrilegious.
Raw after Survivor Series 2005, Eric Bischoff has one goal to accomplish to keep his job, and that is to force John Cena to lose the WWE title, which that didn’t happen.
I preferred RAW, thought the booking on that show was more dynamic
I've been recently revisiting a lot of the Survivor Series shows from my dvd collection and i rewatched this one from 2005, you are definitely right, Raw and Smackdown really did feel like completely different shows. I was always a Smackdown guy through and through during the Ruthless Aggression era as they were always about putting on a good show and it was about the talent unlike Raw where it was just one big repeat show of Triple H on a weekly basis with very little change. The main event of team Raw vs team Smackdown was fantastic, it really did feel like a clash of two worlds colliding and even the commentators from both shows couldn't stop arguing lol I also thought Undertaker returning to scare Orton was a great way to end the show and seeing him in the ring debut his new attire with a full beard just made his return even more epic. Overall a good solid show.
I didn't have cable growing up so I couldn't watch raw. But smackdown on upn was what I had. And they did the raw rewind . So yeah it was different raw always made me curious.
I was team SmackDown by default since Raw was on cable and i didn't have cable....
I remember thinking of raw as such a mythical show where the old attitude era wrestlers went to
It’s so sad that wrestling isn’t like this anymore the live events just aren’t the same hopefully they can get back to how it was
Thank you! Once again, great memories! Was 9 in 4th Grade and after 3 whole years of two brands being their own things with own styles finally come up against one another just like SVR 06 which just came out. Was team Smackdown while my best friend who was 10 in 5th Grade was team Raw and my sis who's the same age just wanted to see what happens.
I legit just discovered you’re channel and I love it ❤️
Who would have known 15 years later Lashleys new finisher is the Master Lock
Considering that Eddie was supposed to be in the Raw vs Smackdown match here instead of Randy, and considering that Randy and Shawn were the last two men in the match and also the fact that Eddie and Shawn were going to have a match in Wrestemania 22, That makes me wonder if this would be the first thing to build for there potental match in Wrestlemania 22 if Eddie was still alive. Just a thought.
Was waiting for you to talk about 05’ bless up🙏🏽☝🏽
Great video again. Brings back good memories👏👏
I feel like WWE got rid of the brand split because SMACKDOWN legitimately felt like a better show than RAW once guys like The Rock and Stone Cold left the company and Undertaker moved to SMACKDOWN. I still remember SMACKDOWN superstars constantly main-eventing almost every PPV, especially Taker at Wrestlemania. That's why WWE sabotaged SMACKDOWN and took most of their stars during the annual drafts because they couldn't have their main show be overshadowed by their "B show". But they really overdid it because now no one really gives a shit about SMACKDOWN anymore..
No they got rid of the brand split because they didn't have enough roster to work two separate shows. The reason they did the brand split in the first place because they had a lot of wrestlers on the roster and couldn't put them all on one show. So having two seperate shows made more fresh stars and it worked for a time.
@@urbanexplorer6994 and they did it again, and we almost had SmackDown being so good, I actually flipped out if I missed an episode in 2016 (hadn't done that since 2007) and now they really made SmackDown FUBAR.
The Shady One i feel like as soon as SmackDown! starts becoming better on RAW they end up doing some dumb shit like the Wildcard Rule or having SmackDown! people come on RAW or RAW branded ppvs for one night
Thank you for this video brother, well done. I was in the house that night for my 9th bday. Unforgettable show they put on.

I’ve always loved smack down more than raw, not only cause of the roster but also cause growing up it was life chilling on a Friday night done with school for the week, and then tuning in to smackdown, good times
This is true raw parents would always come in at 10 saying goodnight I would have to sneak to watch and always fall asleep before the main event lol
Man these kinds of videos makes me miss the brand split. I couldn’t grow up much with it but seeing all of the Smackdown guys defend their GM and Raw invading Smackdown made it feel like 2 teams of the same company like they actually had beef

This year marks the 18th Anniversary of WWE Survivor Series 2005. What a time and 18 years feels like a long time. I can remember like it was yesterday coming home from school where i tune in to SmackDown when after the release of WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2006 it was on commercial led to the real SmackDown vs Raw in which the traditional Survivor Series Elimination match was what both shows got beef for 2 months. I was full-on SmackDown fan. I didnt have cable where I watched on Raw but repeats happened on Telemundo channel 47 every weekend afternoons, Saturdays or Sundays playing repeats from Monday's broadcast on Spanish dub. I'll never forget when this ppv had it all. It spoke volumes how all the superstars from both brands would settle their epic battle to prove which brand reigns supreme. The match was so unique in its iwn right but lets not forget the commentators bickering on each other. Tazz was savage in the deck and roasted the Raw announcers which made me laugh. SmackDown had Randy Orton, the legend killer who cemented his name to win 3 survivor series elimination matches for 3 years. While Raw had Shawn Michaels as thw only legend in the team to represent the Red brand to take on every superstar SmackDown has until he was eliminated by Orton - 2003 ending - and until the end when Randy wins and celebrated with the mid-card talent, boy he was bound to meet and see the return of the Undertaker. That shocked look on Orton's face flashed before his eyes. He wanted out and Undertaker takes out every mid carder left and right and tombstones William Regal while leg splitting! Orton met his fate and Michael Cole called it "it is indeed the beginning of the end". What a night. Happy 18th Survivor Series 2005.
Bro I was in the crowd not far from the stage, when the lightning came and hit the casket I was standing on the seats. I almost fell and my leg shook the entire way out the arena after that. That shit was amazing
The look on bob ortans face when Randy ran up the ramp
Brooo I grew up loving Smackdown because of how good they booked the brand split
Undertaker coming out at the end of the SVR match was dope af and unexpected
The story to Triple H/ Flair and the Smackdown vs Raw matches were so damn fantastic. Flair being an old Bastard that wouldn't go down was cool to see and then you got Shawn coming back from 3 on 1 only to end up eating an RKO and have Randy win it for Smackdown only to have Taker come after him at the end to continue their feud to Armageddon was genuinely one of the greatest endings to a ppv I've ever seen. Everything else was also very great.
I wish I was around to see the ruthless aggression era.
I didn’t start watching until 2006 at the end of the ruthless aggression era. You could really feel a shift in quality a couple years later. I was in kindergarten then and I wish I could’ve been a few years older and started watching in 04 or 05
