Morning Willy! I just picked up a Century 100B off of eBay. Seller said it was “cleaned, lubed, and ready to fish”. Well…not so much. Watched yours and Rick Stivers videos, and now it’s ready to fish! Can’t wait to get her on the water. Thanks for all the great videos.

I’ve bought more than several reels and parts from Gary Barber. He goes through them before he sells them and ships quickly.. so if you’re looking for something else, give him a shot first.. he trust worthy.
But I’m extremely happy that you got the reel you bought working well.. Once you tear them apart a few times and figure out their little ins and outs, you’ll be doing it with your eyes closed! 😉

Hi Willie, changing the old oil. My Ex did it just like you said, but I was there to hand him everything needed. Oh yeah, he thought he was a superhero.
He used a funnel, but not the end clicks, shaking thing. 😂
I see the reel color difference and that bronze color stood out.😮

Gary sent me a Citation 110B earlier this year that was too nice to use. I still might use it, but I’ll have to get over the “It’s too pretty” feeling!
Man, that 100B was exceptional.. I have “nothing” that can come close to the way that one operates..

Hey Willie, we're back and the computer seems to work! Enjoyed this video and I learned that you really do something besides fish and shop for old reels to restore! : ) Question: Why does your Triumph riding jacket have "Jim" on the tag? Didn't think I watched closely did you?( haha) It seems that most of the Johnson 100B's that I have come across have black buttons & crank handle paddles. Since this one seems to be made with higher quality parts and has the button & paddle in white plastic does that maybe indicate a better quality of reel? Should those be the ones that we look for? Just asking your opinion. In any case, Sopia & I always enjoy your episodes and are anxious to get out fishing again now that the weather is getting better. I promised that I would watch out for tree stumps... you should know what I'm talking about!

The “Jim” thing is a long story but I shorten it up.
My mother bought my youngest son when he was around 3 or 4 years old, a small stuffed penguin, so she asked him what he was going to name it, he sat for a few seconds and I yelled from the other room “Jim”. Everyone laughed and from that point on he was “Jim the penguin”.. So the name “Jim” has been the answer for any person you don’t have a name for.. I found the jacket in a Goodwill and it already had the name Jim on it.. so I couldn’t resist and bought it..
That reel is a strange one.. it’ll be hard to figure out if it is one of them without taking it apart.
First one I’d ever seen..
but an incredible find to say the least.. I’ll forever be looking now.

You left out the part you get oil in your eye and you drop the plug in the pan, or is that just me? 🤣
Ok, the plug in the pan thing I’ve done, but never the oil in the eye.. and I hope it never happens, 😂.
