More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing and diction in several languages, her breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
• she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total
• she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
• she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
• she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens.
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, her father is flemish, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia) and American roots ( her grandfather is from Detroit). She was raised in sicilia first then in Belgium so she speaks both italian and french as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada.
She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1996/1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, stayed number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for 58 weeks in a row and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US.
This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar through her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years. She is absolutely massive in Russia for instance.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace", used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera, topped the charts for months and become a recurrent in the local singing contests since then.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban (they are friends and he told she is a role model for him), …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol:
I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by by Lara.
Out of my mind I can list:

○ Love of Tired Swans (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version)

She also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love".
And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).
Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed originally with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy: Igor and Dimash connected after his Adagio cover, also endorsed by Lara.
Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him after it.

On April 23 2023 she had again a wonderful concert in Tbilissi, Georgia

Yes she can, but it is not needed. Dimash doesn't throw shade at her, in fact he admires her and she has been a major influence on how he performs. I will admit that he is more versatile and likely has the best vocals we will probably ever hear, but Lara isn't that far behind and when it comes to communicating the emotions in the music i think they are equal. I enjoy both of their signing styles.

He has admitted that she is one of his favorite singers and has implemented parts of her singing style into his own. I've heard many good singers, including Dimash, sing this. When I want to listen to Adagio, I choose Lara every time. Some songs are just owned and, for whatever reason, we do not give them up to a "newer" singer easily. I've been a fan of Lara Fabian for more than 25 years and have yet to hear a better version of this song.

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific parce.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music composition and different lyrics (Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).
But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer of this new version.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.

Great reaction again. :-) Lara Fabian is for me the best female singer in the world. I really suggest her Italian sung versions of "Caruso" and "Perdere l'amore" (same concert) wich will give you instant goosebumps and her own written song "Broken Vow", that is a real masterpiece.
Quite possibly the greatest performance of all time. Lara is incomparable.
This is a pop version of my favorite "classical" piece, Albinoni's Adagio. Fabian wrote it - both Italian & English versions. (She also writes in French & Spanish.) Story is EVERYTHING to her as someone who calls herself a "songwriter with a voice."
Her pop treatment retains the gorgeous spirit of the source material in ways that no cover of her song ever does for me.
Stellar patient build in dynamics & intensity. Very sensitively performed. Master of technique + brilliant emotive choices with skill to carry out every decision.

Lara Fabian was born gifted with such a talent for singing. PLUS, she was very well trained by the best opera teachers from Belgium and Italy, but she decided to sing pop songs, she also has the knowledge to sing in operatic way, she studied from her 8 to 18 at the Belgium Conservatory of Music (there she learned Bel Canto, piano [she composes her own songs on piano), she started singing professionaly at the age of 15, in 1985, her first video clipe came when she turned 16, in 1986 and her first world wide album was released at the begin of 1990. Then since 1998 she kept having vocal lessons with her Italian teacher untill nowdays, she has two vocal teachers (From Belgium and Italy) and she keeps having vocal lessons at least 3 times per week on-line. Lara also has been working as a vocal coach on The Voice Canada, she already worked as the vocal coach at the Star Academy program in France from 2004 /2008. She speaks fluently and composes in 4 languages (English, Spanish, Italian and French), but she is able to speak and understand a little bit of Russian, Dutch and Portuguese, she already sang live in 12 languages.

Ya have to love Lara's reaction to the applause after she is done as if she is so surprised of the great reaction and I think she actually was due to her being so modest. I know people are routinely gob smacked by Dimash's talent, and rightly so, but Adagio is Lara's song, as in she wrote it. She sings it both in English and Italian (she speaks more than half a dozen languages) and she writes her own music. No one can deliver her songs like her, no one has her emotionality and connection to the lyrics because they're HER words. I know loads of people will disagree, but for me, Dimash is neat and truly has a virtuosic voice, but I'd rather listen to Lara any day.
it's very easy to see why Dimash fell in love with her and her singing as a boy.
The crescendo of this performance gives me an out of body experience. To hear the song is one thing, but to see her perform it takes my breath away and draws my soul out into the universe to commune with God.

I think this is the only song for which I adore the cover of it by Dimash (specifically the 2017 The Singer performance) but still find Lara's performances of it a whole level better again. She wrote it. She more than owns it. And especially this particular performance. The arrangement, the orchestra, the setting. Wow indeed.

This concert "From Lara With Love - 2000" is absolutely spectacular!! You'll love just about every song many of which she wrote the lyrics. She sings in Spanish (Quedate), Italian (Caruso & Perdere L'amore) and in English (Love by Grace, You're Not From Here, I Will Love Again, Yeliel (My Angel) and closes the concert with Broken Vow. There are other songs but the ones I listed are my favorites.
"Love By Grace" made Lara very popular in Brazil. The song was featured on there most popular soap opera and is still a favorite today. Wynonna Judd covered the song in the US.

Small correction. Love by Grace is an original from Wynona Judd, initially a country song, and it was adapted as a Pop song for Lara. Lara’s cover version is the one that made success in many countries but indeed especially in Brazil where it was used in the very famous Camila scene in Laços de Familia soap opera and topped the charts for a few months.
