  • Madrid, Spain is home to one of Europe's most dangerous areas called La Cañada Real - where Europe's largest market for illegal substances is. This barrio a along 16km strip of land filled with thousands of inhabitants from Spanish gypsies to North African immigrants that live in a combo of legal and illegal houses - and while one section is extremely dangerous because of narcotrafficking, there' also more to the story. Join me on an adventure into this no-go zone!

Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 CZcams videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

@MichaelHighlure Its not youtube its the advertisers, they dont want to put their ads onto certain content like drug/sexual/offensive/violent. Lots of large companies actually pulled their ads a few years ago, which would have killed the platform if google didn't action on it. I think it made international news when coka cola ads were ending up on some Nazi content.

Although Former Mayor Rudy Guiliani cleaned up New York City in the 90's and early 2000's... Some of these areas remind me of New York City in the 80's. (Harlem, Bronx, Etc.) I can relate this video to the horrifying sections of North Philadelphia and certain Parts of Newark, NJ and Jersey City, NJ, as well as the industrial neighborhood of Hunt's Point in the South Bronx. Eww... I admire your politeness in you saying to people that ask you for a cigarette no, I don't have sorry. I used to be like that and people would assume that I'm soft and take my kindness for weakness. After a few incidents of assholes trying to push up on me, I decided to be stern on the matter. What I do now is tell people I don't smoke or no, I don't have any and I keep it moving. It's not wise to get nasty or have an attitude because that sparks a fight. So instead, I just have a serious face when I say no and the key is not to stop or stare. Smirk just a little bit or even a very light snicker without overdoing it. Say no with authority, lose your eye contact with whomever after saying no (But always give eye contact when speaking to anyone), and keep it moving.(Not too fast because it shows fear but at a normal fast pace like if you're late for work or something. "Just look like your busy and don't want to be bothered". That way, people will sense a strong-minded person and they will think twice before pushing up on someone. Being too nasty is a sign of fear and they can read that. I've seen tourists do that and get nasty to people in Manhattan and it gets ugly. Don't get nasty whatever you do unless you have to defend yourself. Being too polite is a sign of weakness and they know that. Smiling when you're scared can lead to a robbery or being beaten. That's how women get mugged, assaulted, and even raped because the criminal sees a smile as being nervous or scared. (Except in flirting or if it's a kool person in a safe place, then it's okay) Street people may not be smart, but they are intelligent in sensing other people and reading body language. Now in a nice area... you can tell someone hey I don't have or I don't know and I'm very sorry sir/lady. It's up to your discretion on how to talk to people. If they are going to do you in or get you... they'll do it anyway. However, my tips work because as a person who grew up around thugs, hustles, and tough guys... the psychology is first to see if a person has a strong mind and then they evaluate how tough you are, and then who you know, and if you have a weapon. This is a universal way of acting and judging/dealing with people. Same thing in America. people judge on attitude and color. (Blacks and Hispanic thugs in the street like to prey on light-skinned people such as Whites, Asians, Indians, Etc.) When the crazy homeless ask me for a cigarette, I'll respond by asking for 50 cents, or if a beggar asks for a dollar, I'll ask them for a cigarette and then they get the message and will leave you alone. I've done it many times in the streets and especially in the Subway and it works. Maybe there is a time when the person is too crazy or desperate to rob you... Then, that's a different story that requires a flight or fight scenario. Be careful out there and God Bless.

After watching some videos and reading a bunch of the comments i got some point's i would like to discuss with this community:
1- You're in Europe, first of all, don't compare our slums or "no go zones" with your's, remember, you guys are working with an open market while we deal with a closed one. When i say market, im talking everything you can imagine that's bad, that you guy's have and never heard of.
2- Every "no go zone", " slum", " barrio", "guetto", whatever you wanna call it, are the same, and the most dangerouse one's are the one's nobody talk's about, not even the locals!
3- Every "bairo", "ghuetto" that works like this one, is just a mule.
4- Yes, it is dangerous, till you get out of their territory, a real european dangerous guetto, will track you down. For an example, those 3 girl's, they would've been interrogated about your channel, and believe me, if you did something, like snitching recording, or whatever, the so called "boss", and im talking about a suited mastermind, with connections, with airports, police, private investigatores, politicians and etc... saw something he wouldn't like, you my friend were a goner, and not in a good way.
5- Next time, if you're afraid to go in to a slum, that is so called dangerous, first grow a connection, or ask directly on your channel, if someone or somebody know's, or work's in this type of line to email you or message you. A real boss, won't be afraid to talk to you!
6- Blurr the cares when passing by on drugmarket like that, respect the location, doesn't matter where you are, you might get unlucky one day...
7- If you think you've seen it all, you are wrong my friend.
8- Yes, you are right, sir, the streets make, and it is, a bad influence, but remember, not all of the people, you see and criticize sarcastically, are single mother's, crackheads, junkies or whatever just cause they were curiouse, a lot of them were delt with a syringe against there will, some were raped by there own family members, and some smoke light drugs just to escape reality. Don't judge one's kindness, for entertainment, don't be friendly, be real!
9- Remember, every single fucking country in europe has it's corruption, the media is controlled, and what we know is what the government let's you know, in all bases, full or deep, big or small, dark or light, "with so much peace how come the police is so afraid?"

I would love for you to do a video on American Hispanics in New York City who have migrated here just a generation or two. (Not Fully Anglicized Hispanics like Chicanos or other Hispanic cultures that have been here for decades) You'll interview a lot of people who speak broken Spanish and English. It's called: "Spanglish" For example, there will be people from Puerto Rico who come to NYC at a young age and have never finished school and assimilate into the streets and they'll mix their 5th grade Spanish with English street terms. They are called: "Nuyoricans". Then the same will be true for Dominicans who are called "Dominican York". That's why the say carro for a car instead of coche. They'll say mapo for mop instead of trapiador. In the wintertime, they'll say the Boila is not giving heat for the boiler instead of caldera. A security guard will be called a watchymeng ( Night Watchman) instead of guardia or un offcial de suguridad. Puerto Ricans used to call the cops "La Jarra" because in the 1950s, every cop was Irish and Puerto Ricans couldn't pronounce every patrolman who was named O'hara. A very famous now Puerto Rican neighborhood in Lower Manhattan which is actually the East Village located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan is called "Loisaida" because Puerto Ricans couldn't pronounce the Lower East Side and this area has city recognition from the town and Avenue C is called Loisaida Avenue. Spanglish is the new culturally recognized vernacular in NYC and perhaps on the East Coast. These phrases were taken back to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic where now they speak like New Yorkers! LOL. I remember speaking like that as a kid and my mom would smack me in the back of the head for not speaking proper Spanish. My favorite one is the bodega. In Puerto Rico the proper term for a bodega is a Tienda (Store) or Colmado (Grocery Store) in the 50s and 60s, many Puerto Ricans had grocery stores to cater to their people. Many businesses in New York City have storage basements and they would always go down to bring beer, wine, or extra products to stack upstairs. So they were always going down into the Bodega (Storage place for beer, etc.) So they started nicknaming grocery stores and placing signs that would say Bodega. Then in the late 70s, Dominican migration came to NYC in masses and they bought many of the Bodegas from Puerto Ricans and they kept the name. In the Dominican Republic, they Call it Tienda, Colmado, or Pulperia. But as time passed and people migrated back and forth, and the name Bodega became a staple in Hispanic grocery stores in NYC and the Caribbean. I guesss now the Domicans say it in Spain as well. I remember going to Puerto Rico to visit in the mid-1980s and I would ask where is the Bodega and people would look at me funny, smirk, or don't know what I was talking about? Some would say, look I now you're from New York, but we don't talk like that over here. Now a Bodega is more common than a tienda or Colmado in Puerto Rico because of mass travel back and forth. SMH. Go figure. The things I went through as a kid which were weird and now they are the accepted norm. There's one derogatory term, but I'll say it because I think it's educational. Puerto Ricans would say "No speakie English" and the Irish Americans, Italians Americans, and some Black Americans would call them Spics.

You are a very confused person unless you are aiming for sensationalism with your videos. These people have created their neighborhood after their patterns, they have chosen this way of life. Naturally, they will cut off your electricity after you steal it and don't pay. I grew up near such a neighborhood and I know the risks very well, and believe me, for a teenager it is far more dangerous. There are no friendly people in these neighborhoods, don't use those words because everyone is trying to screw you up somehow. Poverty is caused by laziness, which leads to sources of income of an illegal nature. Here, in Bulgaria, we are very happy that a large part of these people moved there. It's all about mentality.

Pretty sure Elliot’s videos show that you are utterly wrong. 😂

I was scared you might meet one of those Gypsie pickpockets you exposed awhile back.
