  • Inspired by ‪@SabbaticalTommy‬ and ‪@RealLifeLore‬ , I decided to visit Ceuta, Spain, the Spanish enclave in Africa that borders Morocco. Some call it Europe's most problematic border. It's a fascinating geopolitical border situation, and I've always been curious as to how life differs there from the mainland of Spain.. Join me on an adventure to find out.

    Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
    The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 CZcams videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

    A lot of arguing here between Moroccan and Spanish. Guys we’re in 2023 now not in 1500’s, nobody is gonna change any borders because the international community will not permit it. Russia is now finding this out the hard way, to their own demise.

    • @AdventureElliot
      @AdventureElliot  Před rokem +2

      The fact that my Spanish channel has exploded proves to me that the algorithm is wack.. Within 1 hour of uploading a video in Spanish I usually have 5-10k views and on this channel around 200-500. I’ve made well over 200 videos on this channel and poured everything I have into it and yet the results are nothing compared to my spanish channel. But the silver lining is I’ve learned a ton and I’ve especially learned what Spanish people like to see. But this channel is all but essentially dead. Every video dies out very fast and doesn’t get promoted. The biggest mistake I made was making a viral video “7 razones por las que prefiero vivir en españa” that got me 5k subs and most of them don’t understand English so they don’t watch my channel anymore. Anyways, I’m glad people like you (who are bilingual) found this channel. It shows there are people out there that are like-minded and that appreciate this stuff, which means the world to me. Who knows. I might start another English channel just to get a fresh start. Thanks for always watching.

I like your videos whether in spanish or English anyway and if you get to have a big audience in the spanish channel that would be a great achievement

    Despite the logic of geography and history, you find those who reject the Moroccanness of Ceuta, Melilla, and the Ja`fari Islands, which have all been Moroccan since ancient times.. Ceuta was colonized by Spain, taking advantage of Portugal’s defeat in the Battle of Wadi al-Makhazin in northern Morocco. It is strange that Spain demands Gibraltar from the United Kingdom and does not take the initiative to hand over what it colonizes to Morocco!!!

      Ceuta and Melilla were the only territories (apart from Puerto Rico when it was Spanish) that voted to stay in Spain. And you cannot compare these territories with Gibraltar, because the English never conquered it, it was simply ceded in a treaty and they also stole more territory (in the treaty only the castle and the port were ceded and they took the town a part of its waters and airspace). In addition, they never asked the Spanish citizens who lived there if they wanted to be English, they simply expelled them.

    How do the people of Ceuta feel about the existence of Gibraltar as a sovereign part of the UK given that national Spanish politicians act on the basis that Gibraltar is part of Spain and the Gibraltar government does not exist??

      They don't like Gib .. But Ceuta and Melilla are globally recognized as Spanish and have been for over 500 years. Gib is recognized still as a colony by some. I don't really care however, both places are just good 300-500 year old foreign policy . History has its cycles.

      @@AdventureElliot The situation between Ceuta and Gibraltar could not be more alike except Morocco is not as hostile as Spain. Morocco and Spain have much to gain from acceptance of the territories, but hate the territories as they are a continual reminder of how poor their own society and economy perform.

      @@peteregan3862 the Moroccans are actually very hostile.. read the comments in this video or any other video in Morocco I’ve done. Moroccans detest Ceuta and Melilla being internationally recognized as fully Spanish.

      @@AdventureElliotBecause you repeat the Spanish propaganda and deny the history. These cities were Moroccan long before they were colonized by the Spanish. Both cities still have the remains of the Merinid fortifications (which was a Moroccan dynasty)
