- Mimic is perhaps the cruelest and most vile Sonic villain to date. From betraying his own team to pitting heroes against each other Mimic has done it all as he looks out for his best interest.

One interesting thing I just realized about Mimic: His current disguise as Duo takes an interestingly similar design to Slinger of the original Diamond Cutters. The fact his fake disguise is similar to a member of the team HE INDIRECTLY MURDERED is very cold and shocking to realize. Almost like if he was trying to give a sign that Whisper would have to take a moment to fully speculate.
Mimic is probably the most sinister Sonic character yet.
Hahahahha, he takes a lot of pleasure in emotionally torturing Whisper. It would be really interesting too see the DC's dynamic in the haydays. Given the massive age gap between the two (16-32), I wonder if he saw her as something of a younger sister and had fun teasing her and giving her training sessions from hell.
I think the thing that makes Mimic so fun to hate is because he has two of the most detested qualities in history, Traitorous and Cowardice, he never does anything for any reason other than to save his own skin, he betrayed his team not for power or money, but so that Eggman wouldn't kill him.
He really has some detestable qualities that make him a fun character to root against! I had to hold myself back from comparing him to characters like Peter Pettigrew 😅

He's honestly disgraceful even by Neutral Evil mercenary standards. Most of them consider greed to be a greater "virtue" than cowardice, but Mimic is practically too cowardly to even BE a mercenary. He's not NEARLY the professional he thinks he is.

It's funny how the Diamond Cutters are just the Sonic equivalent of FOXHOUND from Metal Gear, yet in this case the Decoy Octopus lives.

@@AFeralTrout420 Not really a comparison since the Diamond Cutters are literally based on FOXHOUND. They have a Sniper Wolf, a Revolver Ocelot, a Decoy Octopus, and the lion and monkey have the roles of Vulcan Raven and Psycho Mantis.
This is the most tragic and dark story in the IDW series ever.

It seems to me that Mimic is worse than Starline. Although Starline also did a lot of terrible things and maybe even worse, he at least did it for a bigger purpose: to replace Eggman, Sonic and Tails and break the Sonic Cycle. Mimic sold the team, tried to kill Whisper, and Tangle at the same time just to save his skin, and also emotionally torments the first one just for his pleasure, and basically does his job for money and pleasure.
I think how the Mimic reveal is gonna go down is during the long run, Mimic continues to stay under everyone's noses while attempting to sabotage The Neo Diamond Cutters by manipulating Lanolin because of her strict, stubborn no nonsense yet inexperienced attitude and this would lead to tension within the team that is of course until during one of the races where the Neo Diamond Cutters are trapped and Lanolin calls "Duo" for help this is where Mimic revealed his true identity and colors and proceeded to leave her for dead, this is where Lanolin realized how wrong she's been for not believing in her friends
That would be a cool reveal. I can't wait to see how it pans out
And then Whisper, who may be a fool for trauma but she's no dope, reveals that she wasn't entirely taken in by Mimic's act, having her conscious speak to her in the form of her fallen diamond cutters, and reveals to have had hidden a miniature communicator in her teeth in case they were double-crossed, which she uses to contact and inform Silver who then helps them escape. afterwards, Lanolin then tearfully apologises to Silver and Whisper not only for not believing them, but for how she talked to them as well, before they all go off to help save the day. Whisper also had Tangle fitted with contact lenses with hidden cameras, as Mimic might get rid of Whisper's mask which might record him, in them to record Mimic revealling himself which they broadcast to the audience via the jumbotrons
My guess is that Jewel, Tangle, Whisper and Lanolin have actually figured out who "Duo" really is and the Clean Sweep Inc. had been playing them too, so they choose to play dumb to their manipulations in order to lure them into a trap of their own.
@@gokuandmario4ever good theory. what would make it more realistic, if they had, perhaps not since issue 64 and 69, since it would be lazy writing, and Lanolin, in spite of deciding to go along with it, didn't actually want to believe Duo was Mimic, but then had to accept it, and still feels a bit hurt

Mimic STINKS at his job, and he HASN'T gaslit us! He's just getting away easily because Lanolin's such a boorish bullheaded sucker that she's easy for even a guy who's too cowardly to do his job right to manipulate! Make no mistake; I want Mimic DEAD, but it's not at all his fault that Lanolin acting so mindlessly cruel!

I want Mimic dead; make no mistake, but he can strip Lanolin and shave off all her wool with his knives before then for all I care!

Man, Mimic is one of the scariest characters in Sonic! I haven't read the spin off comics so this video is really the first time I've learned about him.
Mimic is the type of villain who will go out of his way to inflict serious damage to your character persona in many ways imaginable, whether it could be mentally, physically, or emotionally without an ounce of remorse. Just like Ridley the space pirate from Metroid when he ate Samus' parents infront of her while she was a child.
Please let Shadow end Mimic. It would be a cruel irony as he led his team to be killed by Shadow Androids.

Personally, I'd rather Eggman kill him; sharper irony for the fact that he's been trying to cover his tracks from Eggman ever since.
I also kinda want his face to be smashed in by the Blue Cube Wispon who finally realized Mimic can never be a good person and lets himself be used to destroy his former partner once and for all. Especially since one time he reached towards the Wispon to spare himself. Maybe he tries it again only to die anyways.

@@misterniceguy429 Dude, Doopliss is one of SEVERAL shapeshifters in Mario. How am I supposed to know you're not talking about Bowser Jr., Kamek, Cackletta, Antasma, King Olly, or Lee from the original Paper Mario? Heck! Doopliss and Lee are both Duplighosts, which appeared as generic enemies in the original Paper Mario.
Furthermore, Doopliss can also turn people into pigs and outright switch bodies with others! In theory, he's arguably more dangerous than Mimic. The only thing is that Mimic is a, excuse the term, "bloodier" villain.

Yes. This mercenary has almost no feelings or emotions. Even if he respects someone (like Zavok), he is still willing to stab someone in the back. It's surprising that with such stereotypes, he is neither a villain nor a hero, but rather something worse! In many of his qualities he is very similar to Starscream from Transformers. Although I hope that he will be given a chance to improve, but with a character like his, it is unlikely, but possible.
At least Starscream has his flamboyant charm; with Mimic, you just want him diced into sushi!

Starscream and Mimic are both charming, but unlike Starscream who can only run and not fight, Mimic has at least shown that he is not afraid to fight on equal terms sometimes, when he fought one on one with Whisper and Tangle and against Eggman's armies with other bad guys so far, while Starscream, although he fought with Arcee, but only because he injured her and it was easier for him. Mimic surprisingly still helps Clutch and happily teams up with Serge and Kit, of course for his own purposes, but we'll see what this mercenary has in store.

@@videogollumerThe same goes for many other villains like the deceased Doctor Starline and the restless Eggman. They all have their own talents and disadvantages. But Mimic is a professional in his field and this is the only thing for which I respect this villain. Although he is an Assassin, unlike Eggman, at least he does not torture or mutilate, as Starline and Eggman did, so he also has limits. Even though he is cowardly in some situations, he is not as afraid of death as many people think, because when Whisper spared him, he would have chosen death over defeat. We'll soon see what he chooses in subsequent comics.

He initially appeared in the first 2 miniseries written by Flynn, who was probably less constrained in his writing for those. He's been toned down while in the main comic.
If you think this is dark, then you haven't seen some of the content in the archie comics. They had darker stuff than this, with Sally being roboticized(a agonizing process where a living being is forcefully turned into a robot) into Mecha Sally, everyone including Sonic being killed by a demigod named Enerjak in an alternate future, Knuckles' father being abusive towards him, Eggman having a mental breakdown, etc.
Also the origin of Charmy Bee is that in the Archie verse he isn't a kid but a young man who was tortured by Eggman so much that his mental state regressed to that of a child.
Of course most archie stuff is lighthearted fun, but when it got dark it could cross lines where SEGA mandated stuff can't.

In the world of Sonic the Hedgehog, I have seen many villains, each of them interesting and cool.
But Mimic for me became the first antagonist whom I hate and despise with all my soul.
I thought that he was just a victim, but as it turned out, he didn’t appreciate Diamond Cutters. Claire, Slinger, Smithy and Whisper. They are nothing to him.
How I hate Mimic at this moment 0:39 where he tells Tangle what he really thinks about them.
He is truly disgusting and deserves to suffer for his crimes. Mimic is a dirty traitor and a rat who values himself more than others.
He also imagined himself to be a “professional”, it’s a pity that Whisper didn’t kill him when she had the chance.
I feel sorry for Whisper and may revenge not bring her comrades back.
Mimic is a disgusting villain to be honest.

As someone in a comment wrote, perhaps it's a mantra? Something he repeats to himself to justify his past actions.
He is, by definition, a sociopathic remorseless conniving cowardly shape-shifting killer. Whether their lives were taken by his own hands or not, he is accountable for the murders that occured that fateful day, and the fact that he's willing to kill not only Tangle, but Lanolin, Jewel and Silver (not to mention countless others) to reach her is unsettling. Just imagine you're walking back to your quarters to meet with friends, only for a blade to strike you off-guard and leave you dead or in a hospital bed.

I really hope Tangle doesn't get too roughed up. But I feel like if anyone's gonna be hurt first, it makes the most sense for Tangle as they're the closest with each other.

Mimic to me gives off serial killer vibes and he legit creeps me out and that’s a good thing. Most Sonic villains I’ve seen are funny (Eggman), pathetic in an annoying way (Infinite and Zavok, cool (Chaos, Dark Gaia, Mephiles, Scourge) and Mimic is none of those, he doesn’t make me laugh, he makes me uncomfortable, he’s not cool because he’s a coward and he can turn into anyone. Like imagine he can shapeshift into someone’s parent, sibling, romantic partner, co-worker, friend and he can just pull a Michael Myers and just stab them right there!
Mimic is not a sociopath. His actions resemble that of a psychopath.
What do you think Mimic would be like if he wasn't a villain but an ally towards Sonic the Hedgehog since he's one of the few characters to go underwater?
Possible reformation? Difficult to think, since Tangle refers to his actions as "inexcusable", but, you never know.

This is how I've seen Mimic. Sure, people see Surge and Kit being opposable foes to Sonic and Tails, Clutch being like the Kingpin of the Sonic IDW, Rough & Tumble being the goofiest Team Rocket ver. of the Sonic IDW comics and Dr. Starline and his twisted acts and experiments just to prove to be better than Eggman while astonished by the maniacal doctor's works.
Mimic, however, he's definitely the most interesting villain for me. Because of him being the antagonist of Tangle and Whisper, and his fate with the OG Diamond Cutters (especially Whisper), that really terrified me because not only will he do these twisted actions for fun, but he only does it to benefit himself.
Unlike the other Sonic villains who want to take over or destroy the world, Mimic does it to survive. If you think about it, Sonic and his friends are in a war against Eggman, his robot army and other villains endlessly.. While there are heroes who are trying to fight for their loved ones and everyone else, some people tend to do twisted actions to survive and it's disturbingly realistic..
If you've seen some historical events on war, there can be backstabbers and betrayal on armies, rebellions, battles and many more. It may be an act of cowardice and/or selfishness, but Mimic is an example of the twisted version of humanity.
Sometimes, we do the most horrendous actions to survive in times of war like this, even if the cost of the price is to take many lives.

Mimic is a master manipulator, and it was thanks to his manipulation that he seemingly got Silver and Whisper off his back. BUT, he barely did anything to manipulate Lanolin. He just said some corny stuff and she was all in and ready to go against her teammates. Either Lanolin is working for Clutch, or he's she's incompetent.

I'd argue that the president during Gerald Robotnik's life was the most vile Sonic villain, but sure. Erazor Djinn is a close runner up for murdering his gf after she worked for him.
I'd go for Mephiles the Dark or Black Doom, I mean, they literally have Dark and Black and Doom in their respective names and the latter even tried to have the human race as orderves, not to mention he was the only one to scare and get into the head of Shadow the hedgehog
Gerald died an arguably worse man in the end, the irresponsible hypocrite. He's at fault for Maria's death too for constantly playing with fire, yet he couldn't admit it and blamed everyone who wasn't at fault along WITH GUN!

The new idw chapter was great. Especially with surge. I'll be honest as for mimic, i really liked him. Only stared to dislike him because he screwed silver but it was for the better as he got to hang with blaze. Never cared for the DC old and especially New, tangle is annoying, lanolin is insufferable and whisper is cool sure but its the same thing every time. She does something, regrets it, starts crying ,etc
*LOL* Mimic should just quietly remove every member of the cast. That way, he can become the central character of the franchise.

I have a hypothetical question for you: Let's just say there is a Sonic character that works for dr Robotnik in the beginning, because that character genuinely thought that Dr Robotnik is a hero. But then, that character is slowly discovering dr Robotnik's true nature. After numerous genocide's committed by Dr Robotnik, he/she finally has enough and decides to ditch dr Robotnik and joines the Freedom fighters. Would that character commit a treason by doing so? Also, could you do a video about "The most tragic Sonic villain ever"?

You have to admit... they did a GREAT job with making him so hateable! LOVE him as a villian and the traits they took from real-world octopuses they incorporated into him!! But I would absolutely RELISH using him as a sushi generator... can't WAIT to see him be exposed and humiliated!
Also, I've been wondering if Mimic did SERIOUS damage to octopi, squid and other Cephalopod Mobians in general as a result of his actions.

I think there is something of a mandate that most Sonic characters should be mamals, think I read somewhere the team had to negotiate pretty hard for Mimic's species. Don't take my word for it, though. Clair Voyance was originally a shrimp(?) as a reference to Mantis Shrimp(?) from Metal Gear.

Actually, Fiona is the most vile, Mimic comes in second. Mimic is evil because it's in his nature. Fiona had the chance to become good but she chose to become evil and has shown no remorse ever since.
